I drive a 2013 BMW F20 125d ... with regular supermarket diesel, it averages 48mpg or roughly 520-540 miles per tank. With Shell V-Power Diesel it averages 55mpg and gives ~620 miles per tank. I've used supermarket fuel exclusively in the past and paid the price for it with needing replacement EGR valves / carbon cleaning etc.

Guys , enjoyed your video , but there's a huge thing you left out, if you run your car on normal diesel then switched to v power you don`t notice the difference till about 4/5 weeks as it cleans the system , then you notice the difference in sound of the engine +power + fuel economy, then you appreciate the 4/6 pence a liter more , car is faster more responsive and actually more economical, i have tried and proved this with r master van 2.5 dci , r scenic 1.6 petrol and a 25 year old prelude 2.0 16 v petrol, sorry but v-power rules , i wont use anything else anymore , btw over 8 years testing

For diesel yes, this is significant but the REAL reason you run them is a) to clean the engine of current cheap fuel buildup b) reduce engine smoke which makes EGR's and DPF's fail c) Make the engine easier to live with, less dead spots etc. d) Better MPG after a few tanks worth. This is, undeniable for diesel. Not so much with petrol as its already pretty clean and naturally astringent.
@SuperLC1010
@SuperLC1010 4 года назад
A) Myth, that's why they have diesel filters. B) DPF can be cleaned, cut out physically and replaced/cut off and straight piped or turned off via software. So none of what you said applies anymore.

If you do have a diesel one of the best ways of returning it to peak performance is de carbon treatment (Terra Clean). I'd recommend it at perhaps 50K and 100K. I notcied a difference even though I use BP Ultimate. In BHP it's only gonna be single figures. But removing carbon in the EGR could make it more reliable?

Cab driver here I’m doing around 40k miles a year, i always use shell v power diesel because after testing a lots of fuel brands, V power is definitely the best for me. Beter M.P.G ( around 3 to 4 mpg difference) Good Power ( I can feel it ) Less engine vibration Less noisy Less carbon, emissions. Even smell better, 😂 And always maintain fuel system clean, never had DPF , EGR issues etc.. Also lots of shell club card points. Other drivers in my company use cheap brands fuel or they don’t want to put expensive Shell V power., But they want to spend thousands of thousands on repairing costs end of the year. And I have proof of that. Honestly guys I can’t understand that. Thank you Shell 🙏🏼

TEST OF DETERGENTS - diesel is a natural lubricant and I’ll be curious to know if added detergents in premium diesel could reduce that lubrication by cleaning it around the piston rings unnecessarily. This will result in lesser lifespan of engine. I personally feel my Diesel engine runs smoother and quieter on regular diesel. Any other thoughts ??
@hivnaeaclue
@hivnaeaclue 4 года назад
H C The problem is the smokiness after burn when diesel is ignited. If there are no detergents then it eventually clogs up the DPF, EGR valve and fuel rail sensor. Ultimately in the long run it leads to expensive repair. I now go to garages all the time and avoid supermarket diesel, following costly repairs, that my mechanic put down to "shit" diesel that I used.

Upped the power to 390hp and the torque to a whopping 920Nm... That thing will do 0-100 in 5 seconds. That's enough to keep up with sports cars and she'll keep going all the way up to 260kmh. ***** Hi there For the purpose of the test it doesn't matter whether power is measured at the wheels or the crank as long as they consistently use the same method. Using a wheel dyno will give you a better idea if the power increase/decrease can be felt when driving as you have already included mechanical loss. Hence a 10% increase at the wheels will have a greater effect than 10% at the crank

v power non sense, as long as you keep your car serviced with the right oil, that's all that matters.

Poor advice mate. Especially if you plan to live with a diesel engine for a number of years. Unlike petrol engines you can NOT put pure supermarket diesel in a modern common rail without it slowing down you motor over time. Fill up with the expensive stuff at least for two consecutive fills every year to clean it out. Alternatively additives are available. Also, the standard non-supermarket Diesle is also pretty good at keeping the engine clean due to additives so in the long.

Not so much with petrol as its already pretty clean and naturally astringent.

well I'm going easy on RPM(most of the time, sometimes I push it hard but mostly low rpm) with my Seat Ibiza SC 1.2 TDI E-ecomotive and after 46.000km it pop an check engine light, it was the EGR valve, tried to clean it with intake sprays and it vanished for a few days but it light up again and sometimes vanished ...I've cleaned second time, it was good. Started using v power and no issues at all and check engine isn't coming back - Won't go back to "regular"
