Gotta give The Boom the W on this one. They had all new arrangements and they all were 🔥. For a battle of this magnitude no songs should be on repeat. They have a very full and balanced sound but can still bring power when they need it. I could care less about who is the loudest. That's for high school kids. I listen for articulation, intonation, balance, clean cut offs and overall sound quality.
Love how JSU fans are taking about what happened “at the end “ of the 5th. They are basically admitting SU pummeled they asses until the last couple of songs which, oh gee whiz, they were leaving. Would have been wrong for the U to kick a man when he’s already down. SU with the win.
I'm a ride or die boom all day but I cannot deny that southern had took this all the way clean sweep it's like after crankfest the boom had got laxed in southern caught them slipping. They let Southern control the pace of the battle and it cost them. The boom was doing okay until they play the lions tigers and bears that's what gave them an L. The intensity the boom had at the end of the battle is what they should have started with. Even on a weak year you still got to watch Southern, dont want until the last minute to use your trump card and flex your muscle
Great opening grooves SU !! But then all of a sudden Jackson State started slaughtering.. If I had to choose a winner for this one... It would be to Draw. In all honesty, Southern played beautifully the first four songs of the 5th. The second song was amazing and full. And the fourth song was tighhttt!!! Southerns song choices were enjoyable and well chosen. JSU had a rocky beginning but by the 3rd song and Jasmine Sullivan and every single song thereafter - came and never stopped coming!! It was like - BOOM!! And they continued to eat. Definitely THE TOP TWO bands in the SWAC. Great work JSU & SU!! 💙💙
SU was clearly cleaner the whole time.. balanced, Loud’s were loud, soft was soft but clear. JSU turnt up at the end but it’s not enough. I love JSU but if u think JSU won this take another listen

I’m a JSU and Jsette fan and I was exited for the progression they had this year but I am no where near delusional. Whores if that’s your opinion then that’s fine 😂 but it seems like you don’t listen to music for quality, but volume instead. And volume is gonna lose every time if there’s no quality or balance. I’m not a core fan of either band, but it’s a clear gap when I can’t even hear parts SU plays because they all wanna play as loud as they can on certain songs. SU did a good job, they definitely stepped it up for this game.... but I just can't get past the unnecessary loudness like they're competing against each other, tryna outblow their own members... and those raggly hangovers every 5 or 6 notes are uncalled for... of course SU fans will say that they won the 5th because they've adjusted to and have accepted all that unnecessary noise as their trademark... still the best battle in my opinion this year, I love HBCU bands period!

Nobody is touching Southern! SU with the W. Southern’s musicianship is well displayed while JSU sounds choppy. Their arrangements don’t sound as full as Southern’s. 🔥💙💛
