For the first time in ages, it genuinely felt like summer. With the absence of the usual howling wind, it meant you could hear the locos a mile away working their way up the valley. Tremendous stuff!
Yes, what a superb line-up. In terms of a diesel gala, I'd say 50s and Westerns are the equivalent of A4s and Kings when it comes to drawing in the crowds. Also, I know this is probably controversial, but I thought Rodney looked as good if not better than when hoovers had undergone exams at Donny and Crewe. What a pristine job they've done!
