To sterilize glass jars, wash them as normal in soapy water , then put 1/4 of cold water in each of the jars , put in microwave and heat until you see the water bubbling , careful not to burn yourself , empty the water out and put the very hot chutney , jam , or anything that , you want to jar , screw on lids and let them cool naturally , make sure if your reusing old jam jars that the lids have no damage , I can keep jams and chutneys for up to 3 years if in a cool dark place , hope this helps , have a good day from Spain ❤
Thank you for your recipe, fun watching and very clear to understand, I love chutneys, I have a fig tree from which I grew from a cutting. It has produced about 12 figs, so I will certainly be making a fig & onion chutney. Thank you again for your recipe, enjoy the Bank Holiday.
Looks amazing I will give it a go in the next couple days, how long do you expect that jar of jam would keep untouched in the cupboard? Assuming you can resist eating it!
Super recipe! I made a chutney without changing anything, and put it in a hamburger with gorgonzola and arugula. New dimensions of hamburger... :-) Thank you for sharing the recipe with us!
Looks so good . I looked for like this type of recipes for long time as I like goat cheese with chutney. We are in Mallorca now and figs trees full of fruits ... I will try .... Thanks .
Figs are AU$50 a kilo in Sydney! This is going to be one exxy jar of chutney lol, but wow - your reaction! How can I not make this? Sourdough, butter and cheddar cheese are my favourite things too! X
How many Figs did you add? Is there a particular type of fig that works best? We live in the middle east and have plenty of varieties, I know my neighbours would love a jar of this chutney!
That looks amazing 0_0 I wish figs were easy to come by over here but they seem to appear for only one week in the year. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled and hope I haven't missed that week because if I get lucky enough to find them, I'm 100% making this and lots of it! Do you reckon we could freeze this chutney or would that ruin it? I want to have it on hand all year, if possible.
Crush: (US slang) Informal use of the noun, infatuation, passion, or obsession. I'm not sure if the term is used in a similar way in the UK, I live in California and its used frequently to describe a true liking for something for me it's usually food (I'm a foodie) This fig and onion dish you made had me totally "crushing"!
Yeah my bad, I edited it down as I actually called them red in the first edit lol. The trouble with filming and editing all by yourself. (I also call the jam lid a jar if you watch closely lol)
