That bit with the pilot RPG'ing another fighter mid-air is a joke, DICE knows this. It's basically a nod to players doing that in game. :)

Yes. I was looking forward to this. I can already image what the reaction will be XD. ---- 😆 That first line about the F-35 just cracked me up. It's quite a while since I had such a good laugh. Thank you for this. ---- Yep, the reaction was just like how I expected it. And aye, the flight stuff was just silly. But to be fair, it was meant to be silly. There are a lot of vids out there of Battlefield gameplays of players ejecting from their jets, shooting down their pursuers and then jumping back into the jet they ejected from. It was pretty much just a homage to this.

Best part is that the pilot who had the "rocket launcher" actually has a Carl Gustav. That's a two man weapon and is not even light by any means. Not to mention that it's bulky as hell 😂😂

As a long time player of Battlefield from the first game, this tactic of jumping out of the jet and RPGing the guy following you then jumping back in was pretty common. I feel like this was a throwback tribute to that, that they threw in for the fan service.

Several of the things in this trailer were homages to popular videos that people made of older Battlefield games. The ATV jump into helicopter and the eject > rocket > get back in plane were from old videos.

Here's a 19 year veteran in Battlefield series and never made to the military due to rejected my USAF application for Deaf myself in 2003 (Afghan War era) so imagine if i could met you or not. F35 defensive, that's why the pilot had to bail out and engage with a shoulder-fired rocket. It's the best chance he had. Couldn't make it happen with the plane, had to do it himself.

1:57, I kind of doubt that would happen... Basic physics, everything has the same acceleration. Sure there will be variations in velocity, but I'm not exactly convinced that there would be such a major difference. I'm also not convinced that they reached terminal velocity this quickly. This is for those who don't know a Rendezook where you leave your seat in a jet firing an unguided rocket at the enemy jet. Before returning to your seat. Stun_gravy popularized it. The one who invented the idea was Zookaman who created the loopzook, Leave the cockpit and fire an unguided rocket while in a loop.

C.W. Lemoine... The trailer is realistic in terms of how people PLAY battlefield games, but its pretty obvious its far from "realistic" as in even a simulator or any kind of training aid for IRL ops. That trick shot on the jet actually has a name its called a Rendezook (Rendezvous + Bazooka).... Eject -> Shoot enemy plane with rocket -> Get back in own plane & fly away like a boss, this was done in both Battlefield 3 and 4, and originated in Battlefield 1942 with what was called a "loopzook" where you would get your plane to do a loop, you jump out, shoot the enemy plane with your bazooka, and then land back in your own looping aircraft.

This trailer was a Nod to all of the “famous” online gaming footage where players got “trick” kills. Like the jet scene and 4 wheeler to the helicopter.

Suffice to say, EA and Dice are really owning what the community has done in their games with this trailer. The atv being thrown into the chopper with c4 on it, jumping out of your jet to rpg the one following you then hopping back in... really cool to see a company actually hinting at their own fans and showing a sort of respect for what they've done in their games.

The “why” for that rpg clip is because battlefield gamers do this in game so they threw it on the trailer for their community 🤙🏼

The Rendezook is a gamer meme in BF. In fact, the reason why they put those memes in this trailer is that they messed up really bad with customer satisfaction for their last work. So references to kinda emphasis "hey we didn't forget about you!"

The US Army almost certainly will still be using Abrams as their primary MBT 20 years from now. Given the state of DOD procurement, if we wanted a replacement MBT circa 2040 we should have started the program to develop and build it around 2000. (There have been various programs which have tried to develop a replacement for Abrams, but they keep getting cancelled. Current plans are for the M1A2s to stay in service, with upgrades, beyond 2050.)

They know it's a video game so they stopped trying to be realistic because why the hell would you do that when there are simulators out there that are WAAAY better than BF

The ejection scene is called a "Rendezook" in which the player exits the jet they are flying, and hits the enemy pilot with a hand held RPG, and then getting back into their jet.

In the Fat Amy Rendezook part it's not a guided missile. It's a Recoiless Rifle. Unguided munition. This is what makes it better!

Interesting to note that you are not familiar with the Ripsaw 3:15 . Its funny how everyone calls it a GI Joe tank (which it does look like a cobra tank) but its actually one of the most impressive tracked vehicles ever produced. Built by Howe and Howe as an extreme luxury offroad vehicle, the US military took a great interest at its extreme offroad capabilities since it can literally fly through any terrain. To date no terrain has stopped it. I can't find the video anymore but Howe and Howe used to have a video where the military watched a demonstration of it going through a deep marsh and it passed with flying colors. No other vehicle could pass through the terrain like it did. Its a real tank with real armor but it has a floating cab and a special clutch system that gives it incredible maneuverability. The US military has now fully adpoted the vehicle and has turned it into the first unmanned tank drone the M5 (You asked about them still using Abrams and nothing else). It can also deploy smaller drones. Its turning out to be an extremely effective new weapons platform. Here are some links for your enjoyment and anyone else wanting to learn about it. The rocket launcher is a Carl Gustav recoil less rifle. You can tell by the breech at the back. I used one in Afghanistan.

The point of the ad wasn't "Realism" or to be a "combat sim" the entire advertisement was more like an "Only in Battlefield" compilation.

to be fair, alot of what is in this trailer is from popular gameplay strategy in Battlefield 3 and 4. Its pure nostalgia for alot of players. Its hard to put a realism filter over a game that is pretty arcady

Hey man, everyone is welcome to join us. The rendezook has been around for a while, I mean, you can even do it with C4. But that's OK, I understand if some people hate the game or find it insulting in some ways for the lack of realism. I mean, it's not a simulator, DCS or Arma 3?

Do you think you could do a reaction video to Robotech Varatech fighter, or maybe even voltron? JK but an Airwolf episode review each week would be v Cool. Maybe even bring in a shrink to go in depth with motivation and psychology of someone who did what he did.

What I love most of BF2042 trailer is that, while set in the future. The tech is more realistic to how far we would progress. Unlike COD where you get giant mechs and laser based weapons where every tech is over the top.
