This vid was super fun to do, but there's two lil things I noticed after I finished. One is that it's not really like other Fighting Game Garbage vids, I feel like this one was less about talking about why stuff was bad and more just showing off the characters and what they can do. I think that was the right call considering there was 8 characters to cover though. Second off, sorry if the audio for the Enero section is a bit low, tried fixing it but Vegas was being a bitch and it's 1 in the morning so I'm not feeling that. Overall this should be louder than my other vids tho, I know they've been a lil quiet. Next vid will proly be a short one, been meaning to do one of them. That's that so, really hope you enjoy! Sorry if I take a while to get back to anyone, it's super late here so I'm just gonna go to bed as soon as I finish this.
@@RealmsCrossMyths that laptop definitely run the mix of Windows CE, Windows Me and Windows NT. Which makes that laptop with Windows CeMeNT dumb as a brick and hard as a rock
I will always remember Bafael’s video on the dolls and how he just started gushing about Santamu, how genuinely fun she was to play and pleading for Capcom to make her officially playable
@@Eltrotraw the issue with Decapre was a couple different things, but it was mostly down to how they had hyped up a new character for a while then it turned out to be a clone of Cammy and she was the last character ever added to the game...
I really wanted to see either her or Satsuki playable, hell I thought Satsuki would be when they teased the season two characters (ended up being Menat, so I'm not complaining per se, lol). But yah, Santamu really caught my attention, seems like she has just the kind of gameplay shakeup Cammy needs, IMO.
@@vaiyt Someone should've punched the teeth out of the community, Decapre was a pretty fun addition on USF4 and actually less of a clone than people like to admit, she at least had more originality in her moves than Ken had for half of his existence. Which is literally my favorite thing out of SFV, Ken finally being his own character.
Why the hell would cap on spend all that time and money in making these characters and you can’t even play them!? The people that made original sfv were some idiots.
5:52 "Surprisingly, Decapre is one of the less interesting dolls" Then spends three solid minutes explaining her extensive and unique moveset that's bigger than multiples dolls combined.
This was me when I first saw Satsuki in the Climatic Story mode before her fight with Zangief Playable Satsuki when? That’s how much of an impression she left on me
@@theosouris7063 She was the last character, introduced in Ultra. Actually, she gets a lot of hate because Capcom hyped her up as the last character, but everyone said she was a Cammy clone (she was, but she was more unique then Ken's first appearance as a separate character). Also, Decapre was initally planned to be in SFV, but was replaced by Cammy after her medicore SFIV debut. Her NPC variant here is likely a remnant of that (the motion specials come from SFIV Omega, where she became a motion character).
since you're covering non-playable charaters, it'd be fun seeing characters like Shin Akuma / Bison or Boss Seth from older titles and seeing why they're bonkers compared to their normal counterparts
Actually, depending on the game, some boss forms are playable (for example, both Shin Akuma and Shin Bison are playable without mods in later Alpha 3 revisions)
Speaking of which, I wonder if there's a mod that lets you play as Shadow/Shadow Lady/Shadow Zangief and Shin Akuma from the challenge modes? Would be interesting to see their breakdown.
Oh no, I can't unsee the fact that Enero's hair displace after any attack, leaving her incomplete head open. It's really weird, none of the other dolls seem to have that issue
On the jiggle physics Cammy had them and they took it away same with Chun who still has but its not as pronounced as it was on release Mika also had physics as well these things were removed later after the game released like the old camera angles were
I think with a little creativity Capcom could wrangle all the dolls together into a fun little "Doll Squad" character. Like you play as the whole team and have a move to tag them in and out to switch between them, kind of like Zeku, in a set rotation. V Skill 1 could be an assist button that calls the next doll in the rotation in to do their special, but has a cool down, V skill 2 could be a tag assist that has the next doll do her move but also switch in in the process, which would have different combo potential than VS1 depending on which character is being switched in, allowing for different set ups. V Trigger 1 could be an install the shortens the cooldown of assists for a set amount of time (potentially allowing for multiple assists in a single combo), while V Trigger 2 could be an install that increases the damage and launch of assists (say instead of being time based it buffs the next 3 assists you do, making it a long term threat the opponent has to respect more). Granted that'd probably be totally fucked and unbalanced as shit, but I feel SFV is starting to get into that fun "fuck it" phase fighting games tend to go into at the tail end of their support.
i wish they made juni playable, not just juli, because juni's gimmick is that she's a charge-command version of cammy (similar to decapre) with a 360-degree command grab like zangief. but since she recovered from her shadaloo programming and is just a civilian now, i guess she doesn't want to fight anymore
That’s what PLOT is for! Cammy: Juli?? J: Thank goodness! GET ME SOMEWHERE *SAFE* ! C:Were you attacked? J: Yes! I mean I won, but I WANT OUT! ... but why are you here? Are you fighting...? C: Just stay close... J: Awww...
I loved Juni in alpha 3!!! She also had a dive kick in all isms(unlike cammy that only had it in v-ism), an air cannon arrow, a teleport dash(if you have the right timing you can completely dodge final Bison's psycho crusher), and her hooligan combination mid grab did more damage than Cammy's. She was the best Cammy lol
@@kumaquatro2406 i was gonna say you have good taste, but then i looked at your playlists on ur account and u have GREAT taste….. i thought i was the only one who liked the 3rd strike hd remixes! t4: kitsch, too???
Some bios of Juni suggest that she's training with Delta Red (notably the wiki), so it is possible she could return. We do see her in Cammy's SF4 and SFV story cutscenes, so it's possible. As for her moveset, she actually was pretty unique. Arrow and DP were charge, she had a command dash (like Yang), and a 360, as well as always having divekick. She also had Cammy's Alpha 2 Gold super (the Psycho Crusher one).
The other Dolls probably have jiggle physics because Cammy used to have them too. They probably just forgot or couldnt be bothered to remove them from the Dolls
18:39 You mean an *_IZUNA DROP?!!!_* Almost all ninjas in every fighting game ever has some kind of aerial throw, usually ending in a suplex (Izuna/Rainbow Drop) or slam, or they get launched into the air really high before launching/teleporting to the opponent into the air.
Imagine this: “The dolls” as a collective character. If you taunt, use an EX move, or a thing I’ll mention later, you change to the next character in the list afterwards. You choose which doll you start the match as from the title screen, and since some dolls don’t have moves in certain spots you can use things like grab to auto-swap to the doll with that move regardless of the order of the list before the move starts, making it very laggy to swap but allowing you to get to a character you need.
In regard to the dolls and their health value... The health bar takes up a slight bit more than 7 squares of the back wall in length on the training stage, and Cammy's combo did about 4/7 of the health bar visually in damage, though I obviously can't determine precisely how much. 4/7 is about 57 percent (exactly it's 57.1̅4̅2̅8̅5̅7̅ percent), and the raw damage was 480. If we divide 480 by 4/7 (multiply by 7/4) we'll find an approximate health value for the dolls, 840. So unless non-multiples of 50 are used in SFV with any other health values, it's likely you were right in saying it was 850.
I dunno what happened to me that I just watched myself do an overhead 4 times and forget how to talk and it didn't click with me that was a problem lmaoooo
I remember hearing Elena was originally planned to use a spear. There's still some evidence of it in some official art. Wonder if Santamu is based off that?
I imagine it was the other way around since Santamu came first and her character design had a spear (and a pet monkey) seemingly from the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if, besides _Street Fighter_ (and Japan) tending to rely on stereotypes of outsiders, the only reason they considered giving Elena a spear is because Santamu has never been a proper character. (Amusingly I always thought Santamu was southeast Asian in the original artwork, not African.)
@@MusicoftheDamned Interesting, I knew they established there were 12 Dolls with SFA3, but I didn't realize they went into detail with any of them outside of Cammy, Juni and Juli. Looking into it though, it looks like originally Santamu came from Vietnam and that was retconned to Ethiopia. Santamu itself is the Vietnamese word for August. With a lot of Street Fighter 3 characters, they were based on both a real person and a fictional characters, and in Elena's case I know it's been outright stated in interviews that Elena was based on Yuki Uchida (find pictures of her tanned in a swimsuit, it's pretty uncanny), while it's been really hard for me not to recognize all the similarities between Elena and Gainax's Nadia.
@@WraxTV Yeah, the initial work for the Dolls was already rather complete by the time of _SFA3_ was done, especially since technically do show up in that game as sprites in Juli and Juni's mid-boss intro. It's just that outside of those everything else about them, even their names, were all only in obscure sourcebooks that were never released outside of Japan IIRC. Not sure if changed until _SFV_ (or if it still has to be honest). That said, yeah, some of them have definitely been retconned on top of that. So it's good to have it confirmed that I was correct to remember that Santamu started out southeast Asian since I haven't seen the pictures in years even though they're probably still around here somewhere. Amusingly, Santamu isn't even the worst offender given the whole weirdness with apparently both the November doll *and* Juli being kidnapped from T. Hawk's tribe now instead of just the former despite Juli being white and German as fuck. I swear that poor guy can't catch a break. As for Elena, yeah, that sounds familiar. It's also not surprising to hear since I vaguely remember Dudley being based on at least one real life British boxer, which is part of why I've found it idiotic that too many people make such a fuss over his ethnicity/"race" like he can only be one; the same goes for Balrog (Boxer) being based on Mike Tyson, hence the Japanese name of *M.* Bison that still persists over there, and Hugo obviously being a homage to Andre the Giant. Elena also definitely wouldn't be the first time Capcom referenced another fictional character given M. Bison is based on some anime villain I currently don't remember, Rose is based on Lisa Lisa from the second _Jojo_ part, Dan was essentially the first (?) fighting game parody character given he's a riff on SNK's Sakazaki family (Ryo, Yuri, and Takuma), and so on.
I'm probably the only person out there who actually likes the dolls, I wish they were all playable (especially Decapre, I've been wanting her and Sean in the game since season 1)
Ngl. I never really liked the dolls, but it's only because Cammy exists. It's kinda an unfair judgement, but the dolls feel just cheap to in terms of design even though I adore their concept. Like, I like clones that do different things like Ken and Akuma, but the dolls just don't feel right to me.
@@themasterblaze7563 have you played Rival Schools 1 Evolution Disk? There's a set of characters that totally work the concept. A lot of mix of different moves, that just work.
Or, how about after releasing the Last Character, Capcom should create a Doll Slot. In a similar fashion with Eleven, by picking the Doll Slot, you can select either of the 12 Dolls of your choice (including Juni, Noembelu, Jian Yu, and Xia Yu) and play them as complete characters.
This reminds me of mk 11 where they have cyrax and sektor in the game already and they have a couple missing moves, but they are completely modeled. It just feels like missed opportunities to me.
Months late but fun fact: If you hack the game to do Fatalities on the cyborgs, while they don't really dismember properly as you'd expect, if you do Johnny Cage's Fatality where he throws the head at the camera the glowing eyes actually do a "shutting off" animation that I believe is unique to that Fatality. Why do that do that? Hell if I know.
very enjoyable video! dolls have me very enthusiastic, the better ones feel like they're just a CA+VT+some depth away from being fully fledged characters. Santamu and Satsuki in particular already have pretty cool stuff and very unique gameplans could be constructed just by expanding on their kits a little
All these girls have unique designs and voices and names and special abilities. Now that I've watched this I will forever be disappointed that this is probably the most depth they will ever have.
Juli, but no Juni? That's odd, because I've always thought of them as a "partner pair", ever since they 1st appeared in Alpha 3. I actually like the concept of The Dolls & wish they were included in more SF stories. Since they're from all different walks of life & come from varying parts of the world, the dolls should be as diverse as the original SF 2 cast of playable characters. Hopefully the Dolls get more fleshed out & become unique, fully playable characters in future games.
Canonically, Juni was saved by Cammy right before SFIV (in the OVA). You actually see Juni in the hospital in Cammy's SFIV ending, then in some of Cammy's story mode cutscenes. Juni is one of my favorite Dolls, so hopefully she returns. It's stated that she may be training with Delta Red, so it is possible if Capcom grows some balls and adds more lesser known characters.
@@nebiyuesayas5600 Yea. I think Juni takes care of Cammy's cat or something. But that doesn't mean that she can't make a return as a playable character in some future installment of SF. The Dolls are a pretty cool idea, it's just a shame that Capcom hasn't used them enough in the games. But hopefully that'll change in the yrs to come. Instead of making "new" characters that are usually hit or (more often than not) miss, they could develop their pre-existing characters better. The Dolls could easily be woven into Cammy's backstories & missions, in-game. And since they're from different parts of the world, they could each be woven into another SF lore as well (like "Julia" aka "Juli" being put in T-Hawk's). Plus it'd make M. Bison more of a "big boss" in the game's lore w/ his connection to more characters.
They could've just forward port all her moves from SFIV and made her an extra, tournament illegal character. But that would be too much work for Capcom I guess.
@@RichterBelmont2235 I mean it wouldnt even be hard to give her a V system. Her V skills could be like Vega's (because lore) and VT1 could be like Nash VT1 to teleport and get around projectiles and whatever, and maybe VT2 is like one of Cammy's VT or some lame install. For her CA just make it like her Super in Ultra 4. Bam, tournament legal, kind of garbage, but an easy addition to the roster. Suppose that could be said for most of the Dolls, but tbh beyond the ones with the more unique designs in the later half of the video, they would kinda just be filler. Would be neat though.
@@tootsie_ True, tho honestly I'm not too sure how much I like the echo fighters in general. Obviously 30 years later here Ken is very different, but especially considering the way dlc is handed out nowadays, I don't want to buy a new character that's essentially a hacked/reskinned version of one I already have anymore.
Big Yellow, this video is singlehandedly the best sleep aid for me! I've never made it through the whole vid though XD I love your videos! This one for some reason is just really good at getting me to sleep
It would’ve been thematic to have a playable Enero as she’s technically the leader of the dolls. She’d be commanding them with her megaphone so her other special moves would be her calling in the other dolls like assists.
Super fun content to watch + Satsuki is such a good character imo, she really is a mix between Haohmaru from Samurai Showdown and Ibuki from SF3 (mostly because of the slide), it remembers me when I was playing Haohmaru in CVS2 and doing 35% dmg on a standing heavy punch. I hope Capcom will implement her in a future SF title, she looks cooler and seems to have a better moveset than Cammy !
Story / lore wise they are all Bega Shin'eitai , "vega /dictator Elite Guards") or (ドールズ, Dōruzu Assassin moves ... gameplay wise cammy Was just the catalyst/ basis for them
Santamo, tsasuki, and decapare will be good for sf5. Maybe minor buffs and nerfs. I feel like santamo is alright, maybe a little more push back, tsasuki, NERF KATANA! and decapare, possibly make grab have more potential then combo-ing into back strong fierce kick. That is my rant on why these character should probably be in sf5 to give them more roster lol.
From my experience as a cammy main, im pretty sure all of her skins except for the original one has jiggle physics so the dolls having them makes sense
With information like this about the dolls, I hope people can mod them to be actually characters, or import them to things like mugen, I always loved the personality many characters in fighting games have
The dolls are for canon purposes, they're clones of Cammy. The first successful clone to be Bison's next body So leave the dolls alone, they don't need to be changed or removed. Let Capcom work with the lore within interfering
favourite thing about Enero: some of her moves seem to cause her hair to slowly become misaligned with her head - just watch behind her ear through the clips here
I'm actualy very good thats why me and juni appeared in Alpha 3. The other dolls are just useless scout girls, Lord.Bison all he needs its me, Juni and Killer bee.
Great video, btw can you make a video like this about SFV Unplayable Bosses? (Ex:- Shin Akuma, Shin Bison, The Master Ryu, Shadow Nash/Chun Li, Shin Necalli etc)
4:18 If we are talking about ground things, I guess you could consider Cody bad spray as a normal since it factors as a heavy normal on the priority system. If not, Its just air stuff like Zangief air headbutt.
Yeah Enero has a lil extra bit of jank, on top of the hair she's the only one with a T-Pose taunt and her foot breaks during F.MK, idk what went wrong but it's pretty funny
Very important. Cammy actually does have jiggle physics in one of her costumes. Do the costume code on her schoolgirl outfit and you'll see the same bounce. I have no idea why it only works on that specific costume, but the texture kinda looks like the doll's costumes so maybe it was copied over.
capcom should exploit the dolls concept doing something like snk heroines. I think it would be really fun to have a side game to SFV where they could experiment with crazy new concepts and mechanics
I think Enero is bugged. After you use Hyper Voice, her hair seems to separate from the top of her head and leave a gap in between. It seems to stay that way until you reset. It seems to be most obvious right after the first EX Hyper Voice, you can even see the grid lines moving through the gap.

Satsuki looking like a SamSho character and I fucks with it
it sucks that the backlash Capcom got because of Decapre in USF4 basically killed any chances that the dolls would be playable in SF history ever again. honestly i think my favorite idea out of all the dolls is April. doctors in fighting games aren't unheard of, skullgirls and guilty gear both have medical fighters in their rosters in the forms of valentine and faust. but valentine is a special case as she actually uses multiple different kinds of medical equipment in her fighting style. syringes, body bags, defibrillators ETC, hell her level 3 is literally her performing surgery on her opponent which may or may not cause the opponent's death. outside of the giant scalpel faust carries around, i don't think faust's doctor side ever comes out during a fight (could be wrong if i am please correct me). Capcom could have given April such an interesting move set for a fighting style like this and honestly the idea of a medical fighter in SF while it might not be the most unique idea would certainly set her apart from the rest of the cast and i would have loved to have seen what a medicinal combatant in street fighter would look like, but like mentioned earlier Decapre killed any and all possibilities of that. also, can we just talk about the memes that would be generated from "EX laptop"? XD
also small side note: is it me, or does it feel like there's TOO MANY dolls?. so many that it kind of destroys they're personalities?. i guess it's fitting given that this is bison but with such unique designs for each doll it seems weird that they wouldn't be as fleshed out personality wise as they look. honestly i feel like if they cut the dolls by half (Aprile, Santamu, satsuki, fevrier and noembelu being the ones to stay) and fleshed them out more you could actually have 5 unique interesting characters and play styles as well as still fill in the role of bison's dolls. maybe even cut the whole "they're cammy clones" portion of them so we can remove decapre : D
4:15 In Alpha 3, X-Ism Birdie's follow up to clHP is Bad Hammer, input with up HP. That's the only other SF normal I can think of that's input with up.
This analysis is really cool. Almost all of the Dolls could have been made into full characters in their own right like Decapre was in USF4, so it's interesting to see all of the unique concepts that went into them.
