I've followed your videos since acquiring a Miata NB2 almost 2 years ago. I certainly did not expect this, but do appreciate the knowledge for when (hopefully not) this happens to me. Looking forward to future videos of maintenance and upgrades.
You’re Miata is so beautiful! Honestly, I’m going through the same thing right now and I came across your video. Thank you for sharing this video! I was so upset and I almost gave up, but thanks to your video I’m going to fight it until the end.
I was rear ended and they totaled my car. I had to fight for a fair price. This market is nuts. Had to go nationwide to find a comparable Miata. You gotta hang in there. It is super stressful but now I have a 3 year newer Miata and feel okay with it all.
Your car is absolutely beautiful and I am so sorry you had to go through this. My MSM was hit the same way when it was 5 months old! Luckily it was a $32k car back then so all repairs were taken care of.
In NJ if your vehicle is more than 8 years old you dont have to report your title to the the MVC as salvage. You can take the settlement and retain your car and dont bave to do anything and can still drive it.
See this is why I didn't say anything to insurance when I wrecked my truck. Spent a few months fixing it up myself for a fraction of what a shop would cost, aside from having a good friend fix some body work
See this is why insurance is ridiculous. We should want to use insurance. But the way the system works, they make some people have to avoid it to not get a salvage title.
Its always about your satisfaction. As a car guy, your satisfaction is surely much higher than the insurance guy. I recently got in a car accident but my car is totaled so I don't need to worry abt my car value part. However I also suffer some injury from the accident. I can 1. do the physical therapy myself with some tools from Amazon costing few hundred bucks, or 2. go to the clinical PT treatment which charges $300 one time. Am I going to PT treatment? Sure not coz I know the insurance probably will not pay me that much. I also have a lawyer standby just in case something ridiculous happens.
I'm surprised this doesn't have millions of views. Nothing but facts from the beginning. Older model cars have it the worst with insurance. The same thing is basically happening with my car. Was rear ended, it's an older model. They won't fix the car. Bumper cover broke, reinforcement bar bent. They estimate about $6,000 in damage. Only willing to give $3,500 if I keep the car. Here in GA i have to get a rebuilt title to be street legal, basically having to fix the $6k in damages.. So basically they are forcing me to either sell my car to them or keep it and ignore someone completely wrecked the back of my car.... Some choice...
Ah man, it's a really sucky situation. Glad you had the video, way to think ahead. Was this your insurance or the other driver's? You can do small claims court for the rest although that can be annoying as well. 😰
I live in TX and unfortunately, have had a couple of total loss claims, one was me, one was a car I lent to a friend. BOTH times, the ins co tried to screw me, and even doing the research and getting comps did not have an effect. What i discovered (at least here in TX) is that you have to hire your own appraiser. It costs money, but they do all the leg work and somehow are on more equal footing with the ins companies. I wish I had known this when my buddy wrecked my WRX, it would have saved me a lot of work (and time, I spent MONTHS dealing with those jerks). TKhe second time when it was my truck, I didn't hesitate, I just called the guy that handled my car and things went much more smoothly and took a lot less time. In both cases, the difference in the settlement was astonishing and paid for the appraiser many times over.
They probably didn’t like the suspicion you are autocrossing the car... I’m in the same mix but I’m lucky to have a 40 year veteran in the collision industry helping me..
The same exact situation is happening to me right now they made me wait a month and told me they’ll fix it for a deductible and now they want to total it
My car was rear ended, i went threw the other guys insurance, they never came to look at the car and told me it cost to much to repair it so they sent me a check for what they could lend out, the damages costed less than 70% of the car, but they totaled my car, how do i get the salvage removed from my title
Almost same case I had and lose my car before it was new car this time 20years over but light and mirror out but insurance said total loss mean they got your car ..when I sale my car at Used car price with buy care difference least 3000 to 8000 dollars ..which one I trust price? Auction option in their business with who keep buying with licence as business they have with they sale used car part sale market deal with where car repair shop they buy from them used car parts I found.
You can repair it with way less than 2154$...you use good junkyard parts and you are done. (good paint job on bumper and other parts is not included :P ) Insurance is practically mandatory pyramid scheme
Im going through this. Except mine was hit by the gate at my work. Im dealing with their insurance. It's basically a nasty scratch on the side, but it broke the windshield, and both side windows. All together the estimate is 5,165$ the car is an 08 Nissan maxima that I love. Its fixable, and offers not even my insurance, and they are trying to dick me around. How can someone else's insurance, total a fixable car just because of book value? It doesn't matter what it cost, it's fixable, they have to fix it. At least, that's what I thought.
I am sorry to hear that. I guess it really depends on the insurance company. I had my other vehicle a Volvo wagon, also love very much, get hit by a UPS truck. And of course the damage exceeded the value of my car but I insisted they repair it and they did. Of course now my Volvo has a salvage title but at least I got it repaired and it works fine.
@@Seandoestech I'm going to insist. It shouldnt matter the value, their client messes up my car, its fixable, so fix it. Like, what if I was driving an old bathtub with a motor and wheels bolted on. If you break it, i dont care, i want it fixed. Isn't that the whole point of insurance? I would understand if it were MY OWN insurance, OR if the shop said no, it can't be fixed. But neither of those are the case. It can be fixed so in my mind it SHOULD be fixed. Same as yours, her insurance should cover it completely. I understand your insurance a little, because that's the car their covering, but THEIR insurance doesn't need to worry about value because there's no continued coverage to your vehicle through them.
Please help me. I have a Mercedes GL 450 that has clear cosmetic damage. Car was valued at 8945.00 by insurance, $6200 estimate to repair. They decided to total loss. I have tried to fight them but my car knowledge and know how is limited. Desperately want to save my car .I have a valuation report. They actually total lossed the car before it was even seen by an assesor.
If car insurance with no police department with not car accident report would need that will lead judge rightfully with public transportation all over the country where people live what you think?
Can you help me find out how much my salvage title is worth? I live in Santa Maria Ca and i have a salvaged title Toyota Camry le...with 13,939 miles before the accident there was no lights on worked like new . no damage to the body at all . Ive updated it with backup camera and Bluetooth , DVD and new work done on it
My 2 day old car got totaled because a lady didn’t see me while she was trying to make a left turn. There’s 11.6k in damages and the car is wot to 13k. They want to declare it a loss because it’s more than 75% of the value of the car. We rejected their first offer but I wish they would just repair it. I really want to fight them on it
You could get a whole new NB front subframe and steering rack pretty cheap from sns Mazda parts or something. Paint and body work though I know is expensive.
Thats what cali do? Ny doesnt care as long as the car is 8 years or older, no title branding The print out looks like ccc 1 and wtf which insurance company paying 80 dollars an hour for body repair and 40 paint?????? Ny average is 50 body labor and 30 paint omfg Obviously the original estimate the insurance company wrote all oem parts to tl the car, and once they found its repairable they put all a/m and lkq parts..... lol Edit: oh they repaired all parts instead.... lol just bring it to the shop and have a licensed adjuster to deal with it
You kept saying "my insurance company". Why are you dealing with your insurance and not the lady's insurance company? She is at fault, so why are you filing a claim?
@@Seandoestech That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard of when it comes to dealing with insurance companies. I've been hit by other drivers 4 or 5 times, and I have never not filed with their insurance company. That's why you are supposed to trade insurance company information. Why risk your premiums getting raised? So that lady in the Camaro and her insurance company got off scot-free? That's equivalent to getting hit by someone that is uninsured, and then telling them, "that's ok, don't worry about it, I'll just call my own insurance company." What is your logic behind this reasoning?
IDontHaveAVideo my insurance company will subrogate to her insurance company. My rates won’t be affected because I’m not at fault, other party has admitted guilt. The advantages of going through your own insurer is they are suppose to advocate for you, get you your money faster, etc etc It’s just that in this case, my insurance (who are new to us, we recently switched) are being remarkably picky for not ultimately having to foot the bill. Makes me think I should have worked directly with the other company, but they have a reputation of being rather difficult as well (the general) so it’s kind of like pick your poison
