Wedge formation in 1212 is only good for disrupting infantry formations. Even a pavise unit in shield-wall can be beaten by infantry if a cav unit charges into it first in wedge-formation, breaking the pavise formation and allowing the infantry to charge in right after. Also allows missile units an easier time of killing heavy units like pavise in shield-wall, once the formation has been disrupted by cav.

UltimateToby 17 He preferred when the enemy just surrendered. He promoted people based on their skills, not on their family power. He started wars on other empires, when they killed his ambassadors. If you think about it, the population of Mongols were pretty small compared to others, but Genghis Khan still managed to create the biggest empire.

UltimateToby7 Every conqueror killed tons of people. It was kill or get killed in that time. And you can't judge a person who died centuries ago with today's morality. It wasn't kill or get killed in Hitler's time. The world was relatively peaceful, but he started the second World War. In Genghis Khan's time, there was war everywhere. I'm praising Genghis Khan, because of his tactics.

in my experience, if you're attacking heavy infantry, you wanna use wedge from the front to break their formation up, and from behind it doesn't matter too much but i prefer regular, it feels like the casualties register in a shorter time and have a better chance to break the enemy.

Provocateur because the mongols are long gone the mongols also didnt conscript , didnt force idealogical views and after the raids they were pretty light rulers. Hitler was fairly recent and extremely villanized by our society to the point where anything related to them is offensive

when you charge in wedge you break the formation - you get to attack the solders from the sides rather than all the front - meaning if you push your cav through it you can plant foot solders between a split unit.

not always tho, tiers are only rough definitions, stats decide who is better: For example, for the Kingdom of France, their tier 1 Scots Guards are much better than their tier 3 Franc-archers and Free Company Longbowmen

There was a mistake with Scots Guards, they have to be tier 3 because they are a XVth century unit, a few other units are badly assignated, it probably will be fixed soon.

Hey Apollo, the Tiers in this mod don't tell you how good a unit is, it tells you which time period they are from. Tier 1 is 1200-1300 (early), Tier 2 is 1300-1400 (high) and Tier 3 is 1400-1500 (late).

In Empire: Total War, I had a really close battle. I thought I was going to lose. It was a pretty healthy line infantry on the enemy's team and I had a depleted artillery unit. It only had 1 cannon left, I don't remember how many men, though but I know very few. The line infantry charged me, I couldn't get off a shot, like 5-10 seconds later, the line infantry broke and I won the battle. I forgot to send it in before I reset my computer. I had another game that was similar to this as well. I'm so fucking mad at myself for forgetting to send it in, although I have kept on forgetting for like 2 years now to send it in. lol

The closest battle I have ever been in was a 3 vs 3 in medieval 2. Came down to like 7 artilery crew and 2 riders one of which was the general vs 7 dismounted feudal knights.

white shirt with red cross was templar , white cross with red shirt was malta , blue shirt wit white cross was hospitaller and green cross with white shirt was lazarus knight and man with sallet helm and heavy plate armour from germans was gothic knights. mistake here. you should't put knight with same knight at same time but must be kept them with order each.

The tier system doesn't really represent unit quality in the mod; It really represents era. I wish people would make more videos where they use units from just one or two tiers - otherwise it just looks odd, seeing an early 13th century knight next to a late 15th century crossbowman.

"Don't use wedge formation when charging infantry" The Macedonian Companions were some of the best cavalry of their time. They charged at infantry in a wedge formation to manoeuvre easily and penetrate the lines of infantry that they faced. If you send a line formation of cavalry against say a phalanx, it will be like hitting a brick wall unless you're using very heavy cavalry.

fire lances are basicly really primitive guns. they have gunpowder in a pipe at the Top of the spear which they put projectiles on top. So they can shoot fire and shrapnel at short range.

Probably one of the worst narrations I've ever seen from Apollo, missing stuff all the time, (like the Castile general dying) misjudging the flow of the battle, missing roaming Aragon cav doing rear charges, etc, etc. Still a cool battle. Also elephants too OP blizzard please nerf.

The ilkhanate of Persia was ruled by one of genghis khans descendants. The mongols were commonly referred to as “a horde”, but on the contrary they were almost always outnumbered. This misconception is due to the fact that every mongol warrior had 2-3 remounts. Mongols never used elephants. Genghis Khan found them unreliable as the would break easily under arrow fire, in which the mongols excelled. He first fought elephants when fighting the shah of khwarezm. He even released a herd when he was gifted them.

I never noticed this until I saw this video, but wtf is wrong with wedge formation in this game?! The whole point was to punch a hole in enemy infantry formations, yet charges in wedge formation are stopped dead in their tracks.

the closest battle I remember was when pixie commentated in a battle based on the teutonic dlc of medieval 2, and what happened was a single cav fought with one crossbowmen and crossbowman shot the horse and only he survived.

the historic context that i came upu with was that the pope organized a crusade to push out the mongols from turkey but when the cristian armies arrived at turkey catille dident wanted fight alongside his enemy Aragon so they swich sides and this is the battle

Pixelated Apollo when u charge wadge formation in to a shield wall u don t damage all the cave unite hp only the first ones that impact the wall .... but when u like extend the cave unite and charge it all the cave unite that impact the shield wall will lose hp. that what i think :P

In Medieval Kingdoms the tiers system only denote if the unit is early/high/late. It got nothing to do with quality.
