Copy protection isn't "gatekeeping". It's amazing because it means people can't rip a map you spent days, or possibly months in Infinite's case, working on, then pass it off as their own. It happens too often and this feature actually has me even more excited because it means I'll no longer have to worry about people copying my hard work, putting their names on it, then reuploading it as if they made it, then getting more attention diverted towards their copy. I also cannot wait for collaborations, the moment I saw that, I started messaging some friends that enjoy environment building about a couple of ambitious undertakings I know they'd like to be a part of, I'd figured I would've had to do it all on my own.
Eh I think it’s both good and bad, obviously it’s good for the reason you said but also it can prevent maps from improving over time by the work of different random users like we saw with halo 5
@@king_dot I disagree that it's going to slow innovation. For most things in forge if you have the ability or idea to innovate a map then you could feasibly make your own version, its just that now you have to create everything on your own. Technically it is slower but the way I see it anyone who has an idea worth implementing will still put the effort in regardless.
If Forge, File Share and and a custom game browser were to actually launch together without any major bugs it would be a game changer. There are so many possibilites and I'm excited for the future of Infinite even if it had a very rough launch
The fans regularly call 343 incompetent, greedy, careless because it's popular but everything we've seen for the future of Halo is nothing short of amazing if we're being completely honest. HI's launch has been rocky, everything they've done since launch has showed us just how much talent is still behind Halo, how much they actually do care about their fans, and how much they want to make this the most accessible Halo for everyone. With Forge they are essentially putting the game engine and world in our hands and allowing us to play a part in shaping the future of Halo. I can't name one other studio doing the same thing right now.
Please explain what has shown up since launch? im not saying they are not skilled but to bow at their feet after that launch and the lack of support is laughable.
@@TheBlackstarrt Every AAA games rely on outsourcing these days. 343 is the conductor orchestrating all of these moving parts, setting the scope and integrating it into a cohesive whole.
0:56 - the fact that forge now has a form of version control just goes to show how seriously 343 are taking this. The advancements made in forge and custom games are going to be INSANE. I hope that we get a customs browser not too long after forge is released!
Yeah that thumbnail setting is gonna be a problem, it already happened with Halo 5 Forge for PC if I'm not mistaken. Using screenshots taken in the map in Halo 5 was good enough.
I imagine that the custom screenshots thing is so you can take a nice screenshot of your map to share, but, you KNOW people are gonna try to exploit that feature and do some dumb stuff.
I’m kinda worried about them letting us upload whatever screenshot we want. People are for sure going to put very low quality screenshots that look super out of place.
I honestly think its a big up, H5 had a similar thing but it was restricted to game captures, although using pc apps you could get custom images in, which you may remember from the custom browser. This system looks to be an expanded modern version of that, which doesn't need captures so that it works on pc. I'm totally down for it
Is there any idea yet if you can make those short cinematic overview camera moves that happen when you load into the start of a normal match? Like would those happen with forge maps & you can dictate where the camera's pointing, or would it just cut straight to gameplay if you were to join one?
File Share is the biggest compensation to saving Halo. Forge and Custom Games need to be fixed and completed, but without a convenient way to share maps and modes Halo is doomed.
I wish the actual content browser was different, the tiles don't leave a lot of space to read titles and descriptions of modes, I feel there should be a better way to navigate community content.
