Kudos! Pugay! Our pinoy instructors do speak a lot, in native Philippine languages...and in non-pinoy languages! We seem to have waited a long time to be heard and understood. This is so different from other martial systems. Pugay.

There's so many different variations that it would be difficult to categorize a specific style. Most instructors deal or teach conceptually as opposed to teaching a technique.

I wish people could understand that people practice martial arts for various goals other than applying it in real life or compete. Mental and physical Health, Knowledge, fun, social… etc are also valid goals. Stuff like PH dirty boxing and wing chun, JKD, while i do agree to certain degree that some of their technique are useless in real life, they are still a great martial arts that people of all age can practice for fun, knowledge, social interactions etc. dont discount certain martial arts just because you think cant work in mma or real life. Some of the techniques do work in real life. Also us coaches gotta make that bread lol That being said i also wish people can be better at differentiating between what works in real life and choreography. I fought and am coaching muay thai and teach jkd/wing chun on the side.

Any of you that think "this stuff would never work in a real fight" may want to remember where this comes from . If it didn't work there would be nobody left to pass it on. This is a demonstration of techniques , not a sparring match or fight. so yea, the other guy holds still so things can be practiced safely . Trust me, they realize some people snap punches back , its all built into the movement. But some people DON'T snap punches back , or it's a push, or grappling . Not to mention the constant underlying factor in ALL Filipino stuff, the blade. You may pull your arm back, but that doesn't mean it's going to be in the same condition as before. Go try it out and see for yourself if it has something to offer or not.

With all due respect and this is one of the arts that I trained in. As a matter of fact I was in a giant fight along with one of the people that taught me this as well as kali. Him and a person who knew boxing wreaked havoc. That said, a good portion of this would not work in a real fight. I've been in real fights. I've used similar techniques in a fight. Like the one attacking the elbow. With marines and others. I get the origins of this stuff. But it's a different time. Even bjj now has stuff that wouldn't really work because people got showy. Also there are many flavors. Take in account people are more fight educated now. A lot of what he's teaching here is not practical. I don't think people saying it's not want to see someone hurt in a demo. I've been in demos where for hapkido, self defense, MCMAP, TKD etc and I didn't get hurt. Pro's demo effective things all the time and don't hurt people. I think the comment was gaslightish. I've trained in enough styles and been in enough situations to know this wouldn't work.

@ricksuarez5357 ah the good old I've been in many fights and could never make it work therefore it doesn't. Keyboard warriors move. Classic. I've made many of these work in Thai sparring. Did you just not sparr with this stuff? Like at all? Because he's literally doing mostly stuff like split and side entries. Have you tried thai sparring where you can actually grapple with striking?

Everyone has different priorities when training. Health and exercise, self-defense, community. It's difficult to train in something if there's nobody around to guide or mentor you, so we get it. With any martial art, if you're only access is through books and online media, you kinda have to put the pieces together yourself.

Filipino fighting doesn't block. There is no form but is fast and quick. The person who lost runs back home bloodied and comes back with a knife. The unarmed person first breaks a small branch from a bush, then picks a rock and the fight is on. Round 2. The person with a knife got clobbered could not sit straight nor stand up and still wielding the knife. Now his siblings showed up wants redemption against the other person with his friends. Round 3. When the smoke is going down the authorities arrive, 12 people have to be rushed to closest clinic. Rips clothes, black eyes, lumps, stab wounds, cuts, broken bones, missing a shoe/flip-flop, no shoes at all and missing a wallet. The onlookers on the other hand have the time of their life, drinking, laughing, criticizing those who were pulling hairs and others were biting.

Luv you’re explanation on these techniques Maestro Bautista… I teach KOMBATAN Mano- Mano with a blend of PANUNTUKAN , Full Contact Kickboxing, Jujitsu & No Gi Submission Grappling.. These are nice dirty moves Street ready PANUNTUKAN style , but adding Attributes Training in Real Full Contact Sports completes the circle for me & my students .. We can simulate all these dirty moves but Live Sparring with Contact teaches us many things that’s not in Theory practice. Real Fighters say , we can memorize any technique, but developing good attributes in Timing , Speed, Power , Learning Distance & keen judgment against a Live opponent in a sparring match will add success to these techniques ..Complete training in Self Defense is like both side of the coin , There’s the Heads & the tails side … THEORY with dirty moves & Live Sparring in Full Contact for Atrributes development . I am a fellow PANUNTUKAN Enthusiast , I luv your post brother .. Just giving my personal opinion on what’s on the other side of training in this Kickboxing/ Dirty / Boxing Art .. Nice post Maestro ..🙏

Its really ironic. All the haters talking about the "arm wont stay outstretched" or "a boxer wouldn't stay there." Wonder if these "experts" understand that any good puncher knows to bring their hands back up to guard their face. So in this technique being taught it is being explored that as both punchers upon retraction could get tangled up on accident or on purpose especially after a hit to the face. And if the arms get tied up a few options are being presented. Options not absolutes.
@legacyfilipinomartialarts2872
Yes if you are able to counter the strike with a strike and are able to grab then these options may become available. Best to have a back up plan to the back up plan. Pretty much be familiar what options are available to you in that moment in time.

My fellow martial artists are not going to pure Boxing gyms to train and fight, which is what the guys who used this stuff did. They don’t understand the difference between them putting on Boxing gloves with each other, as tough of a time as it might be vs going to a real club that has fighters. Nice little demo of the techniques of the art here. No offense intended as they are not trying to show off at all, but the real level is obvious to those who have fought a lot. It bothers me that there are so many captains on a ship. The only technique that really works in actual situations is to take a gun and shoot the bastard on a distance of 5 meters. Drills in martial arts - even in MMA and street fighting - are made to practice and master this techniques so you can use the most effective part of the drill in a particular situation. That is what I have learned from the martial arts, I have studied. And that's a lot. So if you don't can see this, you understand nothing about the essence of every martial art on this planet. It's hard to find a martial arts instructor on RU-vid that's ever been in a real fight, against someone that actually fights back. While this guy concentrates on trapping the opponent's right hand and delivering complex attacks to his right side, he seems not to recognize that in a bar fight, his opponent would be throwing a left hook at his head, following up with a kick in the toys...
@ricksuarez5357
@ricksuarez5357 Год назад
I can tell you that from brawls I've been in while in the military with marines... You're wrong. Oh yeah in a piss, beer and water lined floor, You're not throwing kicks. Even out of the military when I had to run security with/for people at clubs. Actually a marine homie did get hit with a hook. It didn't do shit but make everyone at our vip table laugh and then run over before out friend killed the dude. Why would he recognize a bar fight for this attack? And the version where he steps on the foot covers the kicking. I don't totally like this specific technique personally. It's not comfortable. I don't like how it takes 2 limbs to control one. And you have to put too much work in to get hits and you're leaving yourself vulnerable. It's literally depending on the person not pulling his arm back and/or doing nothing. I like simpler things. I would modify this to get a hit and/or just hyper extend or break the arm, low kick the dude and be out for the next person etc. I do not want to be that close to someone for a certain amount of time and with all do respect a lot of those punches aren't going to do much.

@@ricksuarez5357 Because the instructor is teaching a trainee to be a fighter, then I would expect the trainee's punches to be more effective maybe than that of an untrained, garden-variety drunk. That being said, if you'll watch Mike Tyson's first 11 professional fights, you'll see his hook punches knocked out every one of his opponents in round one. Good training makes a difference--I don't consider this instructor to be a good trainer. Like you've pointed out, he spent too much time worrying about one arm, when his "opponent" has two...

This is not one long continuous technique. An instructional video makes it seem this way, He’s demonstrating a bunch of independent options based on position and angle. That’s the teaching style with Joseph IRL- they’ll give you a bunch of option/stechniques- with the expectation that you’d put them together based on your own preference, body mechanics, and the flow of the fight. I studied with Joseph when he was teaching with Eskabo Daan- having come from a very different style. He’s really good at breaking down the mechanics.
@dexteraccountsligotgordon3471
Using two limbs to control one is a good idea when you’re small and the opponent is large. With 2 on one control, you can put the opponent off-balance which prevents the attacker to have a stable enough base to throw a strong punch.

@@dexteraccountsligotgordon3471 That's almost every art in existence. Forms, kata etc are basically a bunch of combos chained together. I was breaking it up. A lot of it is still not practical. There's no flow of a fight. There's just people trying to end you and you them. It's really that simple. Also in reference to your other comment. If you're a smaller opponent you DO NOT want to grab on to a bigger person... UNLESS you're used to it from BJJ, wrestling or you go in to get your hits and then move, etc. Reason being game over if you get snatched. I've seen it done. And if you're using two limbs on 1 they're free to hit you with the free limb/s. Also you're too preoccupied to see anything else coming.

How is this dirty? Even karate does versions of this and I’ve seen it in king fu! And the reason kung fu doesn’t use head butt is because push hands would counter before you got to the head butt! Not dirty not new!

@@michaelcohen91 lol you mean hence dirty western boxing. Because boxing means only fist, only in western, and only with white westerners! You take that stuff and say boxing anywhere else and you will be laughed at. Btw a distinction has to be made because I run into people that think elbows, knees, biting, scratching and eye gouges are dirty. Only dirty fighting is concealed weapons and who cares if you lose cause you’re dead and if you win be proud! See no such thing!

Why would you think your opponent's arm would remain outstretched after he was punched in the face? This is an unnatural reaction. All these techniques are built on a shaky foundation and therefore won't work in a real situation, there's almost never such a speed advantage. It's more of a circus than a technique for real-world use.

Pacquioa way of boxing is basically close to this technique if you have watch his fight, specially when on offensive moved. Pacman side step to the right evades his opponent jabs and left punch comes with it.

1. He doesn't attack you, he stops half way through so you didn't need to handle his momentum 2. Your playing catching hands, if he uses a different angle or if the attacker knows how to handle timing you didn't have any chnace bc your focusing on the hand...you need to know how to protec your zone.
