Just 2 Questions on applying for a firearms licence. 1st - Where it says ( suicidal thoughts or self-harming ), if you put yes, even though it's been a while, will that just cancel you being able to get a license from then on ?. 2nd - Where it says to put where your going to shoot, does that mean you can ( Only ) shoot in those places, or if another place comes along later to shoot for example ( A Friends Field ) , do you need to go through the system again, or can you just go and shoot if you have the owner's permission too ?. Thanks for any ( help / advice ) on my Questions, wanting to get my licence, but not sure if I'll be able too.
I’m glad my force finally adopted the online form - now I can bin the cheque book as that was literally the only reason to have one. There is also a section for reporting the acquisition of a firearm which gives you a confirmation code and it works hallelujah!
Just got mine done dec 2020 after 10 years of owning firearms this was the first year I had to get my gp to fill out and return to me a form (£25 for me but I have heard of horror stories) word of warning my gp was in no hurry to return it. I had to become a pain for them to do it (1.5 months i think). Now I don't have think about forms for 5 years😃
100% honesty is absolutely the main thing. I forgot to mention a driving fine on my form, so mentioned it right at the beginning of my interview. Turns out I didn't technically need to mention that specific driving fine because it was the only one that doesn't result in points (Mot), but the FEO said disclosing absolutely everything is still vital. They will know even if you don't tell them!
If you're thinking of applying , be prepared for a lengthy wait. I applied last February and have been reliably informed, several times, that the FEO will be in touch. There seems to be an horrendous backlog down in the SW. due to this epidemic. Good luck though.
yeah me too man, the thing when they say you can apply under 18 relies on you having parents or close family with licenses because for most clubs you have to be 18 to join or have a guardian with you the whole time and then someone has to transfer the guns to you because you can't buy them, a massive hassle and if you don't have someone that will do that for you then you're out of luck. I'll probably be getting the license at 19 or 20 because i'll have to join the club at 18 then wait the time in there to be member, or even a waiting list that could add another year, apply etc and be 19 or over by the time i get a gun in my safe
Nice video, I plan to apply in a few weeks for a firearms license as I have had a shotgun for about 2 years now ( you originally convinced me to apply aswell by the way ).
@@littlerichardthetruekingof1028 don't move here if you like guns. Our laws may allow us to own stuff but it's still very hard to get it. If you want to leave the US and like guns then Switzerland or the Czech Republic are for you
next year my licences come up. It will be the first time I do an online one. The picture must be less than 2MB I believe to upload. So will have to work out a way to get the jpg under 2MB!
It's simple. Go to Google, in the search engine type reduce PDF file size. You'll get plenty of options, click on any one if them, then upload your picture, it will process it automatically and then you can download that picture. Same goes for JPEG too, instead of PDF type JPEG.😊.
Hi Callum, Ive had SGC for 2yrs, now member of H.O practical shooting club and I will be applying for FAC in about 10 weeks, I would like to apply for 3 x .22 Rifle, 1 x .22 LBP & 2 x mag fed shotgun, do you think this would be a resonable request?
You didn't mention that most GPs charge a fee for a GP form & can refuse,my local range has a 1 year waiting list to join & then it's £140 annual fee, on top of that my FEO regards only of those in the pest control business should be granted a firearm.
What area are you in? A lot of clubs are useless at internet/social media presence, but will accept new members for those who can figure out the byzantine network of word of mouth etc. My current club has no website OR social media, but accepted me right away once I got hold of contact details via a friend of a friend and reached out.
@@suddenlyminotaurs I'm in Worcestershire, the club local to me has a website etc which even states there is a 1 year waiting list to join also, word of mouth or who you know doesn't work. Stourport on severn pistol & rifle club.
@@andrewclaxton6446 is Worcester Norton Shooting Club doable for you? I think they're accepting probationary members, and if I remember right, they cover most disciplines.
Hi, if we wait for the Doctor to complete his form before we complete the FAC application will the police wonder why they have received a doctors form and no FAC application??
Where are you based would love to meet you live near Romsey into shooting dad is applying for rifle license at the moment would you give any advice on Calibre sizes and specific details
Hi Callum, i need some guidance chap. How do i find out the dates of speeding fines that ive had. I have tried the on the web put in my NI number license number d.o.b etc and all i get is there are no current offences and yet ive had some dating back around 20 years but i don’t remember the bloody dates. Is there a site i can get that info from. Bob
I’ve just applied for mine I thought you had to put you wanted a moderator on your rifles but there wasn’t anything about them should I have put that somewhere?
I think Hampshire force would issue handguns reason iam saying this its ask for which handguns caliber you wants as if I they wouldn't mention it if don't issue handguns then they should put in category long barrel pistols
Great vid bro, im 26 with no friends who shoot or have any background in guns in general, so it is pretty daunting stuff without guidance. Im in south Hampshire but my link to local constabulary is absolute shambles, i can only find the paper one on PDF
I’ve noticed the online form compared to the paper form isn’t as detailed, some quite important questions are missed off it Had my FAC application returned due to the pandemic which sucks, although they haven’t put a block on their site for online applications! So anyone doing it now will have it cancelled and a refund! They could at least put a not on their site (west Mercia)
this form has errors callum were it ask firearm type it asks for handgun but handguns are banned but instead they put in the category long barrel pistols and revel overs and we're it says other that shouldn't be there because that means any probhited
I think Hampshire force would issue handguns reason iam saying this its ask for which handguns caliber you wants as if I they wouldn't mention it if don't issue handguns then they should put in category long barrel pistols
You can only really own a handgun under Section 5, and that's a totally different process. It is possible the form refers to handguns due to animal humane dispatch etc. But you almost certainly won't get a FAC for a handgun.
I dont think you can get 22 wmr pistols. Only rifles, i might be wrong but ive never heard of them. Semi automatic long barrel pistols have be chambered in .22Lr but long barrel revolvers have a few calibres to chose from because they aren’t semi automatic. Hope this helps
They're in lbr but then just get a 357 or 44 and in semi auto lbp they might be a little long for the mag and grip and would need completely new design for a lot of the parts, not financially viable for a niche lbp when lbps are already niche
@@desertfoxxx98 thanks DesertFox. I joined a local shooting club and the very helpful chaps guided me on the full application and they also advised declaring that speeding offence. Only had to pay £15 on that one just goes to show we get the piss taken here. Pretty straightforward in the end.
Always a tad tragic when our American friends mock G.B firearm laws and shooting life. Latest 2021 U.S statistics state 20,726 died as a result of shootings, intentional and unintentional. While G.B suffered from 155 deaths. Staying alive is much more important, honestly. 12.21 per 100k vs 0.23 per 100k.
