i watched Dotta's reaction. He was like a starstruck kid when Ren called him out as a friend. Hell, MichelleShow loved it.

Really like how you get what's going on more than most reactors I've seen. The "fuck it" from the voice of reason Ren showing how he's given up trying and handing over to angry Ren. The Money Game 3 reference. None of it went over your head, and very observant.

I always thought the walk around was a total Clockwork Orange reference when Alex is doing the "Singin' in the Rain" part. but that's me. I see Clockwork everywhere... maybe that's a bad thing.

This was great! Ren has commented several times that he likes George Orwell - I think the pig mask represents everything that the pigs in Animal Farm represented: systematic greed, manipulation, power, betrayal, etc., so your theory that it can represent anything that keeps Ren from moving towards his goals is spot-on!

Great reaction and analysis. Honestly, the people I’ve known that act sweet and kind ALL THE TIME have actually been some of the meanest people I’ve met once they’ve shown who they really are. I don’t know if it’s just them holding in any and all anger they feel until it explodes or what. But give me people that show all sides of their emotions any day of the week! Ren’s angry and still in the end he simply hopes that kujo has bad dreams and warns them about talking sh!t again.

A lot of reactors want to see Ren take to the stage with a movie or a play. I do too. And Sam should be in charge of videography if they ever film such a thing. In the build up to this song, when Ren just said matter-of-factly, "I had to get it out somehow, so I got it out somehow" it was such a very Ren way to announce this kind of a song. I don't care if you've already seen the Tales video. So what if there's no endorphin rush of the big reveal and shock reaction? I'd love to see your take on it. Also: Shiny and Red Right Ankle are permanently entwined with memories, and Mariner's Revenge might as well have been my theme song for a few ages. Watching them perform The Tain live in a small venue is a top-ten concert memory.

The one thing Ren hasn't talked about, but I found myself in looking into it... is that the actual Bulgarian choir has _nothing_ to do with this. They don't own the sample. It's a catalog sample, owned by another producer from Eastern Europe... Czech Republic I believe, though I could be misremembering and it's Poland. In either case, this narrative of this poor innocent choir wanting their share is nonsense. It's just another producer who bought the rights to the sample in the mid-00's, from a recording from IIRC 1994, who runs an online catalog of samples. So one producer going after another producer to get him to go after Ren. It's even occurred to me (though probably this is delving past reality into conspiracy theory land) that this other producer and Kujo could be cahooting. Ren even talks about "getting the choir their cut", so maybe _he_ hasn't even found out that part yet...

"Screech-adjascent" is a FUCKING INCREDIBLE description, lol. To me, the only place he sticks a toe over the line is when he initially adressess the gf as "slut." Super gender-based (and unbased) insult we don't have receipts from him to feel justifiable, to me. However. The rest of it was SO WELL DONE and he even manages to sustain that feeling of imminent violence despite backing all the way off with the content of his lyrics. And he backs off descending into further misogynism with the gf; I don't think I've ever seen someone do that so successfully. It's... not easy to back off that "mood" so completely that it doesn't leave a hangover for some of us/spoil it. All in all, I loved this - lyrics, music, video.

Great reaction. I loved this song except where he called the girlfriend a slut. That felt too far for me. But in terms of the music, performance and cinematography, they were all top notch. Yes, Sam shot this one, and Ren directed and edited it. Ren did an interesting interview on the Zach Sang show in which he talked about the pig, amongst many other things. He preceded the release with telling part of his life story in chapters, starting from the beginning of his illness. The song is intended to be one of hope for people suffering with ME, MCAS, POTS, Lyme etc. You would be in a good position to judge whether it would indeed be encouraging to your mum and sister or not.

Maybe show your sister & mom Ren’s Troubles. The video has a little bit at the start and end that adds to it that isn’t in the acoustic version but they might like the sound of the acoustic more.
