One of the biggest problems is they can’t run the ball. If you watch the game, there is very little under center play. It’s pretty easy for the defense when you don’t establish the run. Good luck trying to run in pistol or shotgun all day. No play action or easy passes. The OC didn’t the QB or the offensive line any favors.

What helps a rookie qb? A good o line and a good run game. Bears have none of that. Gee I wonder why he’s struggling.

Caleb Williams turned into a punching bag in that second half

Bears should have kept Fields, traded down, taken Alt, and which ever OT was left at their second pick. Then drafted weapons for him the rest of the draft.

I don’t care if he has a defensive coach. His offensive line is bad or the play calls are horrible. There’s no way he supposed to look this atrocious.

You can have a terrible rookie season and still be a good QB. If you want an example Troy Aikman had an 0-11 record his rookie season and had a stat line of (155 of 293 for 1,749 yards, 9 TDs, 18 INTs) while the Cowboys went 1-15. Dont lose hope bears fans

These are like Zach Wilson level lowlights but worse. Wilson wasn’t all that bad early on in his rookie season until he faced the Patriots.

Caleb was overhyped

Bears fans chanting excuses like a cult: "O lines fault. O lines fault. O lines fault." LMAO. It's happening again and everyone knows it, just another name in a heap with Trubitsky and Fields. I'd feel bad but Bears fans talk unbelievable amounts of trash about Green Bay, they just randomly spit out FTP even when they're not playing us, so I'm just going to laugh at their continued QB misery, a 4000 yard passer is nothing but a dream for Da' Bears.

What went wrong? This was (and was) completely predictable as Caleb Williams starting as a rookie. He is not and was never "him."

Where was the analysis about what he should be doing? There was none because guys were not open and when they were he was getting crushed before he could deliver the ball. Yes he forced things later in the game and made a couple of poor decisions, but Caleb was overall fine when context is added. He'll be fine with time, continuity, and hopefully improved Oline play plus a softer schedule.

Still very early in his career, obviously, but I said mid-summer that, because of the offensive talent on the roster, Williams simply has to be a "game manager" this season and next and play on-schedule and on-platform instead of what he was doing at USC. Everyone says Mahomes when it comes to his ceiling, but that's def 🧢: Mahomes is a much better athlete than Williams (fast-twitch quick feet and two-sport pro athlete), whereas Caleb seems to be the chubby kid who slimmed down as a teen and had good football talent but never elite pro athleticism. Caleb might have near-elite arm strength and arm-angle ability but cannot afford to dance in the pocket and try and buy time for the bigger play as he did in college. To me, his floor is Zach Wilson (draft projection in 2021, NOT where he ended up as a player), with "Poor Man's Mahomes" as the ceiling. But if he winds up being like prime Alex Smith for the first few years of his career, he will have done well for himself. Doubling down now on my claim from April that CHI def should have taken Jayden Daniels, who is an elite athlete AND whose game was similar to freak athlete (Justin) Fields' but with better passing ability and overall football acumen. Daniels will be, BY FAR, THE best QB in the class by Year 3 or 4, with Caleb somewhere around 3rd- or 4th-best, depending on how Bo Nix and Penix Jr (when he gets to play) turn out in their respective situations. Jordan Travis (Jets) and Spencer Rattler (Saints) will round out the top 5.

He's still got talent, It's just about him getting the experience. Got to give a rookie a couple years or more to really develop.

I just watched this highlight reel and in arguably 5-6 of the 30-40 plays here are the receivers "NFL open". The vast majority see the receiver open from 5-20 yards. The biggest problem is that this is exactly what Chicago does to first round QB selections.

a bit under pressure is when the online is getting pushed toward you no protection is when ur oline is on the literal floor while 2 unblocked starting Dline men are breathing down the back of you knock you miss these sometimes be better at analyzing the plays

after bottoming out in the NFL how about fix OL and DL? they force multiply everyone else. maybe that process is two years and you go from 4-13 to 7-10. unload your most overpriced vet for a mid round pick or two. then spend the necessary capital to move up from 10-15 to 5-10 for the franchise qb. i'd be interested to see the success rate of teams who do something like that vs. the chicagos and carolinas

Caleb isn’t good

I think their offensive line needs some serious work. They need better blocking overall and a rushing game. Caleb will learn the NFL way of playing and he will develop chemistry with his receivers, that takes time. The offensive line improvements don't come automatically and they seem very concerning imo

Our offensive line is dog water. That’s what went wrong for Caleb. He’s running for his life and being forced to make something happen which isn’t going to happen 😂. It’s not rocket science!

Nah its not that deep. Their offensive line just sucks. Blaming the offensive line does not get clicks or views. Caleb will get there.
