Film Study: Why Bryce Young got benched by the Carolina Panthers 

As a Panthers fan, I 100% agree with Bryce getting benched. I don't wanna hear the excuses about the situation he's in, you cannot throw for 84 yards and a pick and expect to keep your job in the NFL. This is a results driven league. Perform or get out. I don't expect Bryce to be throwing for 400 yards and 3 TDs a game, but he needed to show SOME amount of improvement to start this season. He somehow looks worse than he did last year, and he sucked last year. This had to be done.

That miss with Johnson towards the side line was a miss throw by Bryce. You are 100% wrong on that one.

Trade him to Miami

Why did canales not play bryce during preseason if he is so quick to dismiss bryce???

The panthers broke him. Dude has no confidence at all.

On the interception he stared at the receiver from the snap. Chargers new exactly where he was going to throw the ball.

They had to bench him. Canales would have lost the locker room..

As a Texans fan I thought Bryce despite his size was still going to be a good QB I think he still can be but he really needs to get out of Carolina now maybe after this season he request a trade. He can go to the Rams to learn from McVay and Stafford. He just needs a fresh start go to a team where he learns and sits for a year two and go back out there and prove he can be starter in the league if not a quality backup

Knew he would be benched at some point during the season, when on his first pass last week against the Saints. He smiles and starts chuckling, he's not ready to be an NFL caliber QB.

I like Bryce Young I think he had it to easy his last two years of highschool and his whole time at bama he was playing with a stacked deck from the start he had talent at bama everywhere so the flaws he should have worked on were covered up by bama great teams they produced under Saban.... I know he has the talent but now he has to work..... The Panthers need a lot of work..... Doesn't look good for Bryce right now but I believe it's the Panthers as a whole there are a lot of bad players trying to block for him and there defense definitely gave David Carr anything he wanted idk tho

I think the biggest problem is that Bryce is struggling with things that he didn’t struggle with in college. In college he had excellent pocket movement, was smart and good at running, he had excellent pre snap and post snap IQ, his progressions were good. There’s a reason people compared him to Steph curry. He was superb at just about every non physical category. It’s not like it was just because Alabama was so much better as well because his oline was terrible one year and the other year he lacked passing weapons. I think Carolina has killed his confidence and 100% should have sat him for at least half a year before starting. They threw him into the fire with nothing to work with and clearly coached him in a way that has limited his progressions. Their scheming, development, and overall attitude towards him have killed his potential.

Still believe Bryce Young was drafted into a bad situation. They would’ve destroyed CJ Stroud if he was drafted to Carolina

They never let him develop, they never set him up with a decent veteran qb to help him develop they threw him in a crap tream with no time to transition to nfl

Two of the throws to Johnson that you said he didn't catch, he could not possibly have caught those balls. They were bad throws.

I don't think that first screen pass was a bad throw so much as a bad play call, Chargers were expecting it and a defender is right on top of the receiver the moment the ball arrives, also poor blocking by the other receivers.

THE WORSE is that in garbage time which really started soon after the game started, BY could still not do anything right. he stinks...(and he's in the NFL)

I was at this game ... Young does nothing at an even average NFL level ... too short ... noodle arm .. let this be a lesson to future NFL teams .. size DOES matter in the NFL and dont ever draft an Alabama QB high ... Worst #1 draft pick ever

Panthers are a crap team with very few prospects of being even close to decent in the near future. They've made bad decisions, and having a great team with great culture starts with a good front office. It won't change until they get someone in there who knows what they're doing. Bryce clearly doesn't believe in himself right now, and that's not good.

He sucks, there was a terrible qb named dwayne haskins and Bryce Young sucks more than him. Theyre the same player.

That coach panicked because of the owner. You could see it in the press conference. All I can say is all failures are failures of leadership. You really thing that "offensive" line can keep Dalton intact all season. Why they drafted someone that small is beyond me, and how did anyone think he should be a first round pick? Some of these guys need to think about switching positions if they want to stay in the league.

This isn’t really his fault he has no talent around him. The only think I don’t like about his game is his footwork

You can post all the film diagnosis/study you want... but the Panthers are putrid at the skill player position and the offensive line is atrocious... no quarterback since prime cam Newton has had success in Carolina.. its bigger than Bryce.. but its easier to throw him under the bus instead of the meddlesome owner being held accountable for his terrible run as Panthers owner... trade Bryce because you already lost him as a player.. you failed him as an organization... Adam Thelien should not be your number 1 or 2 reciever.. unless its 2017 but its 2024... is that a Bryce issue or Panthers front office negligence 🤔

He's being paid nearby 40 million to make those passes and he cant. Sure you cant always complete the pass but he cant even do the small things. No, I dont feel bad for him. He deserved to get benched

There are plenty of QB bust every year. If I'm a Panthers fan, I would prefer to cut bait sooner rather than later. I lived through the Zach Wilson experience and it sucked for 3 years. We knew mid way through year 2 he was not it and the GM inexplicably made him the back up QB. That was a protect the GM's ego move that blew up on the fan base.

Too short and doesn't have the arm strength for the NFL level. It sucks to say because he was brought into a nightmare scenario but you can't coach height. I knew it was over as soon as he started hopping to throw over the O Line.
