Personally I preferred his motivation from the comics where he was basically trying to hook up with the personification of death but she's basically like "I'm not interested" but he just won't take no for an answer and goes to ridiculous lengths to try and win her over. Basically, Comic-Thanos is the universe's most powerful incel, and I find that hilarious. :)

One problem with your math in the middle about multiplying people is that those two kids who came from the one kid required two people, not one. Two kids is the steady rate where it doesn't grow or shrink. Unrelated to the first part, but, just removing half of everything makes a huge supply chain issue, leading to millions dying. It would also not lead to permanent loss of people. With the decreased labor we would have to go back to past times where people DO news children, and would almost definitely in the long run have no effect other than a bunch of death

There is one BIG problem with this tho. Even though Thanos claims Gamora's home world became a "paradise" after his genocide, in the first GotG movie Gamora's mugshot reveals that she is the "Last Survivor of the Zehoberi People", meaning that in practice Thanos' solution didn't work out very well. This tiny detail totally changes Thanos' character for me. Though he believes what he's doing is right, Thanos is simply a mad titan. Literally. His dillusion of "creating a better world" is misplaced because he's at heart a psychopath who disguises himself as a righteous savior.

so now that Mat is leaving us this is the Theory that made me hit that Sub button and keep watching for years.

You know what comes after a society being financially stable and everyone having resourceful rich lives? Yes. A baby-boom.

It is insane that both Infinity War and Endgame worked at all. Endgame had an easier task since most of our heroes were dusted for most of the film but that final fight managed to be satisfying and give all our characters satisfying moments without feeling forced. Except maybe the "A-Force" moment since those characters would've been spread all over the battlefield by then. It was a nice moment that called back to Natasha so I get why they did it. It just didn't make sense logistically. I can't imagine what the next Avengers movie will be like without the Russo Brothers. They made it look so easy. The next Avengers films will need that touch since they'll almost certainly have even more heroes in the fight. Just adding the X-Men and Fantastic Four puts at least 20 new characters into play. Not to mention it won't just be a big purple guy with a big old disposable army. It'll be a guy who can travel not just all of time but throughout the multiverse with ease (Kang) or a guy who eats planets (Galactus) whose hype man is an interdimensional being on a surfboard (Silver Surfer), an entire universe condensed into a human body (The Beyonder), or someone who can manipulate matter at will (Molecule Man) or the Marvel version of the devil himself (Mephisto). Not to mention characters that have been screwed up before. These villains will need a skilled hand to stop them looking ridiculous. See previous versions of Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Taskmaster and if I'm honest, Ultron wasn't all that great. I didn't count Galactus as that wasn't Galactus. It was a cloud. I would've also removed Silver Surfer but he was technically silver and surfing so he stays on both lists.

I haven't been a fan of the these channels for thaaaat long, but this was the first video I watched of any of the channels. I'm really glad it came up on my feed, because I now love all these channels, I've watched every video from style theory and food theory, and all the ones from film theory if I watched the movie/series its about (I'm not a gamer so I don't really watch game theory except minecraft videos), so thank you, for this video and these channels

Why did none of the Avengers figure this out with their brains and came up with the idea to convince Thanos to make the resources of the universe infinite? Even better, why didn't Thanos work this out himself?

My issue with Thanos’s plan was how it every being in the universe had an equal chance of dying. That means that some planets could loose way more than half of their population, while others don’t even loose that much. There’s also the worlds Thanos has already purged. Are they exempt or down to 25% of original numbers? Plus all the people that die as a result of people getting dusted, like plain crashes or suicides. Just never made much sense to me.

Matpat, the main problem with this theory is that while the population growth would be linear, it is very common for their to be a drastic increase in births prior to a disaster of some form. Economic stability would allow for the population growth to go from linear back to exponential since the supply of the market would heavily outweigh the demand for stuff. Also the fact that Thanos would cause emotional and financial complications which would utterly wreck the universe

Film theory idea: Thanos was dead wrong, his plan was to half the population. He started by going planet to planet searching for the stones and killing half the planets. Then by the end of infinity war he snapped his fingers killing half of them. For planets he’s already gone to there now at one fourth of the population. Also that’s not mentioning places like Asgard that had already been mostly wiped out that’s a big problem. Let’s say half of Asgard’s population got out (which is unlikely because of how many building we see compared to how many people leave) there now now to one eighth of there population. Also when he snapped it wasn’t just intelligent creatures or overpopulated creatures, it was also in endangered and rare creatures. There’s only 2400 pandas left, this makes 1200 after the snap. And this is the same for lord of other creatures with little to no population. We can also assume that most of the other plants because of there overpopulation and ignorance like Thanos said in infinity war they probably also made creature endangered. I fell I’ve already made my point but I’m not done. Have you asked yourself how long ago the population was half of it now? 63 years. And that’s going back to 3 billion. Now of course the world slows on population growth right? Useably yes but there’s a different. The world they would end up in would have half the population making all jobs have half the needed workers. Because of this building and things from before the snap would go down in price (now there’s half the demand) even so there will be less power because of less workers. Power plants need a certain amount of worker it get it working so a lot of them would need to be abandoned, lots of people would need to hired to prevent nuclear waste and plants breaking down or getting out. This means for the first but there would be panic and fear and chaos. Jobs need to be rearranged and things need to be rethought. These worlds are thrown into the deep end. Panic and fear and lower quality of life (which would happen through this change) would cause population growth (seen in history when quality of life drops). Also civilisation would need to change. People will want answers and people in power wouldn’t be able to make things go back to normal. Normal needed the normal amount of people. So some creatures and population will go extinct because there’s too little members, quality of life will drop due to massive change and jobs needed and it wouldn’t take too long for the population to go back up. He’s destroyed populations, species and civilisation has to change. What could he have done? If he only want life to live he could make all intelligent creatures (present and future) to become infertile with no will to reproduce. Now only nature will live in perfect balance. None taking more then the world can handle. If you want intelligent life then maybe try having a cap. The stones are magic and can do anything so have it so there’s a population cap, no baby’s can be born until there’s a space available. But that would need you to have a set number or a cap. If I wanted to achieve a stable population I would snap to make it so creatures can only grow to a population size that the planet or ship or whatever can handle. Simple change to prevent sudden change and create a permanent change. But that’s just a theory A comment thoery

If everyone has 2 kids, then population never grows, because you share those kids with your partner, by the time your grandkids have kids, you and your partner dies, so if every family has only 2 kids then population stays stable

I just realized Thanos went around to planets killing half the population of them before he had the gauntlet so does that mean that after the SNAP that removes half of all current life wouldn’t some planets end up with 1/4 of their original population !!

here's the thing, even with getting rid of half the population, the growth will never stop. meaning at some point, the world will be back in the same place of almost "at capacity" and it'll all have been for nothing. his solution was only temporary, just as if he had used the stones for more resources or living space. he picked the one problem that will literally have the same outcome in every scenario (at least for our finite thinking)
