@@zexxy4983 Actually, Mists of Pandaria came out 3 years after the Kung Fu Panda movie. However, they have been an official part of the setting since the Warcraft 3 expansion from 2003, 5 years before the movie (which means likely before the concept of the movie was even marketed to animation studios).

As far as the idea for Pandas, they have been in the Warcraft universe looong before the first Kung Fu Panda movie came out, the first one being in Warcraft III, where you help Chen make his beer. This is later referenced in World of Warcraft Classic, through finding Chen's keg in the Barrens. Only difference why people keep connecting this to Kung Fu Panda, is that WoW actually had the story from the books ready up until Cataclysm(2010) and then it became progressive story. Otherwise they could've added Pandas(Pandaren) alot earlier. While alot of people were/still are against Pandas being in the game, the cinematography From Mists of Pandaria and on, hits a new high for Blizzard Entertainment. That can be clearly seen in the Overwatch shorts and the WoW Cinematics From 2012 and on~

I think people also commonly believe Kung Fu Panda came first because getting the panda hero in WC3 wasn't a sure thing, so not everyone find it, whereas a movie doesn't have that problem. I can't remember off the top of my head, but didn't you need to get the secret level in the blood elf campaign and then you'd have the panda for the mission after?

It's worth noting that Chen Stormstout (that Pandaren in the cinematic) has actually been in the Warcraft story for about 20 years, so if anything Kung Fu Panda ripped off Blizzard :)
@sophiejones7727
@sophiejones7727 3 года назад
The idea of a Panda (an animal endemic to China) that does Kung Fu (a Chinese martial art) is not exactly original. It wasn’t new when Blizzard did it, nor when Kung Fu Panda did it. It’s a rather obvious idea. As indeed is the case for most of the Blizzard races (Draenei being the exception). Most of them are based on D&D. Shamanistic orcs, light and dark elves, savage trolls, tinker gnomes, capitalist goblins, Victorian werewolves: they didn’t invent any of this stuff. However, they constructed a unique lore that bears very little resemblance to any other franchise. Same thing with the Pandaren.
@MrBrinkyboy
@MrBrinkyboy 3 года назад
That is what Blizzard do, most of wow lore is a reference. Nordic-, Chinese-,Greek- and even Celtic mythology, even a lot of names on items and NPC's are references to real life people, places or likewise.

Basically the Pandarian continent was hidden away for centuries by a magic mist, but after the events of Cataclism (the one with the big bad dragon) the mist dissipated and during some naval fight, alliance and horde scouts found the continent (just like in the trailer) and the expansion is basically both factions fighting for control and native (the pandaren) support

Haven't seen this explained. Pandarens aren't just into balance for no reason. The island has an effect on Its occupants. Negative emotions gain physical forms and corrupt the land. The Lore is essentially the Pandarens trying to not have a massive war that would escalate that. There are also other threats that popped up.

Really love how this actually showcases a lot about the ideals of both the alliance and the horde. In an unknown land, the horde orc charges straight in through the fog, braving the dangers in order to get a good foothold and surprise his enemy. The alliance human takes the time to fashion a weapon, preparing himself before carefully making his way through the fog. But when the chips are down, and faced with an unknown and dangerous opponent; the horde and the alliance will work together in order to take down the unknown foe.

its about the emotion they want you to have and feel,if its dark that usualy indicates scary and bad,light usualy means fun and happy,fog indicates mysterie,it all plays with youre emotions. they wont show you deathwing in a happy light place and they wont show you stormwind in a dark place. how they made there mouthes move from time to time was funny. as the fight transitions to the island the transition moves with the panda face and the movement of the panda faces welcomes you to the island thats why he has an approving smirk. i always like how the pandas say "slow down life is to be safered" meaning take a moment and injoy where you are.

5:30 - What's funny is how the panda basically signaled that he wasn't taking them seriously. The orc had damaged a part of the bridge to have a weapon, and the panda was annoyed. He just slams the piece back into place before straightening it like an irritated sensei, and that sent a vibe all its own which made them realize that he wasn't trying. YES! 2nd best expac cinematic behind Wrath of the Lich King in my opinion. "Like Kung Fu Panda with Mortal Kombat" that is a great description lol The theme of this expansion, was very "The war between two old rivals spills over into a new land, involving those peoples." Humans and Orcs fight because they hate each other, they have border friction, they fight for resources. Pandaren fight to survive, to "bring harmony", if there is evil they fight it, but they don't continue fighting just for domination or conquest, like the Orcs used to.

One thing I love from Pandaria is that the trailer really hid the main theme of the full expansion. Through the expac the quest lore was constantly emphasizing what each side thought was worth fighting for and realizing that the only thing worth fighting for is home and family(which culminates in the siege of orgrimmar after the orcs went full nazi on the horde). The Pandaren add in quite the unique perspective and the monk class was extremely powerful during the expac(it was then nerfed harshly in warlords and later legion to the point only windwalker spec was viable ungeared). It definitely was a fun and unique journey of self reflection which flew by many's head. Also the klaxxi have a whole classic 80s metal band thing going to add even more shenanigans, miss this expac.

The pandas were added as a next playable race, neutral in the introduction quest line and choosing side at the end. So there are Alliance and Horde panda characters. Main story was about fighting seven negative emotions that had physical manifestation as Sha. Remnants of and Old god, whose empire included Pandaria before sundering (splitting the main Pangea-like continent into current continents). Players were rediscovering old forgotten secrets, tombs of the ancient Mogu kings (first raid), Klaxxi empire (mantid creatures, separated from rest of the continent by giant wall), thunder king palace (ressurected greatest and most powerful Mogu king) and last raid was tighting all loose ends about Sha manifestation, old god presence and Horde warchief who visioned his new Horde as orc only, so rest of the Horde stood against him. So to summarize the story, After we defeat Deathwing (the big dragon from your Cataclysm react), each nation began to repair themselves and rest after save the world from ending. Then Garrosh Hellscream (the hooded brown Orc that said "times changes" from the Warlords of Draenor video (Mist of Pandaria is the expansion before Warlords)) who was Warchief of the Horde (red faction) deside to declare full scale war against the Alliance (blue faction). He announced that he will invade the Night elves territory, invade the human fort near them and literally nuke the human city next to that fort (this happens in the novel). Now, while all out war between two factions is going on, the ship from both factions go to the south ocean where they though that nothing is in there because it has a really thick mist and any ships that enters there before never return. And they found out that beghind the mist, there is a landmass behind it. Actually, in the south, there is a massive continent called Pandaria that surrounded by this mist for 10,000 years. Because 10,000 years ago, at the end of the War of the Ancient, the last emperor of Pandaria sacrifice his life to separate his land from the rest of the world and cover it with this mist. But due to the event of Cataclysm, the mist began to disappear. Now that both factions had discovered this new continent, the fighting began to shift into this new continent. First is just a small recon teams, then the army, then even the faction's leader set foot on this new continent. So that they can discover this new land, convert peoples from this land to their sides, gather new resources, and discover the ancient artifact from this lost continent that can turn the tide in this war.

Funny thing is that Pandarians have been a part of Warcraft lore before Kung Fu Panda was in production. They started off as the annual April Fools Day joke then was liked enough they implemented Chen Stormstout (the pandarian in this cinematic) into a part of Warcraft 3. Also expansion for World of Warcraft take at least 2 years to make. Sadly because of this delay and Kung Fu Panda coming out shortly before Mists of Pandaria was announce as the next expansion, the biggest complaint from fan was they were only bringing pandas into WoW because of the movie's success and "pandas were added to the lore only because of Po from the movie" people ignoring or not knowing they had been in the lore before World of Warcraft came out. They even had/have a quest referencing Chen by name in WoW since day one, though only those on the Horde side can pick up the quest. As a extra bit of info, Chen though a pandarian was not born on Pandaria, he's from a group that left the island hundreds to thousands of years before the moment in this scene, he like the Alliance and Horde only just found this island, he however knows it's his people's ancestral home, he didn't appreciate them breaking pieces of his ancestral home thus his taking back the axe/hammer and putting it back into place and adjusting it properly with his staff (this place can be found in game too, where you can move it back into place as well) Mists is one of my favorite expansions still, even though it ended about 7 years ago.

If you have the chance, you should find a short scene blizzard launched little after this expansion came out. It's a continuation of the main trailer, it's really short and you will really love it.

While there are many who accused Blizzard of stealing the idea from Kung Fu Panda, the Pandaren have been in Warcraft years before the movie came out. Ironically, the Pandaren actually started as an April Fools prank by Blizzard, but were was so popular with the fans that they included a Pandaren character in the expansion for Warcraft 3, specifically Chen Stormstout who happens to be the Pandaren in this very cinematic (as well as generic Pandaren heroes that both Alliance and Horde could hire).

A comment about the Harmony-aspect, Peace and balance. The island of Pandaria is where the heart of an Old God fell (Old Gods, think C'thulu & Co) as the Titans tried to rip them out from the planet. The Heart of Y'shaarj then seeped into the land and made it so that any powerful emotion could manifest itself as a Shaa, ranging from small enemies to massive creatures several storeys high! So over the eons, the Pandaren learned to keep their emotions in check. It is OK to feel anger, sadness and pride, but don't let it go overboard! So it is not just because of some religious or cultural belief, if things turn sour people die (and when we players arrive there with out battles between the two factions we cause a number of these Shaa to manifest).

The story of Pandaria and its inhabitants, Pandarens are interesting. So The art director of Blizzard studio originally put a wallpaper art of it and treat it as gift, but fans response was so big Blizzard start turning it into realization.

I played this expansion, and it was pretty decent. People have already talked about most points you'd want to know about this expansion, but I thought you might find it interesting to note, the site of the fight scene is an actual location in game, and you can even adjust the loose incense burner!

I highly suggest doing the for honor cinematics, first with the 2015 one, then the 2017 story cinematic, the marching fire cinematic as standalones, i don't know if Vortiger, Sakura, Hulda or Sun da can work as standalones because they are extremely short but maybe in a single video you can review them, but the first three I highly recommend, they are amazing.

If you're paying attention, this cinematic is what it's like to play WoW, neatly explained in a 4 minute video. Every 2 years, we have an expansion. We go somewhere new (the opening minute or so). The Horde and Alliance are both there and fight for control of the new land to use against the other faction (the orc and human battling each other). Then someone steps in (in this case, the pandaren), and reminds us that bigger things are at stake. We can't waste time fighting each other, we have to work together to beat the Big Bad (TM) of the expansion (the human GIVING THE ORC A WEAPON and them fighting together against the pandaren). But, then after the Big Bad has been defeated, we have to go back to fighting each other. Anduin said it best in the "Lost Honor" cinematic: "I thought we were fighting for peace, but we're just...fighting."

K, Pandaren in Warcraft came along years before Kung Fu Panda. First appearing in 2002 in Warcraft 3, but possibly even before in Blizzard's drawings by Samwise Didier. Also, this video has an extra ending - search for Bottoms Up!

Its a great Cinematic, one of my favorites back when i still played the game and it was good. Fun fact, the incense burner the Orc picks up and Chen(the Panda) puts back, u can actually go to the location ingame where they fought and put the burner straight like Chen did, even gives u a achievement for it. Its a shame the game is so bad these days, way past its hayday, Wrath of the Lich King was the best expansion, but this one did a great job as well.

Mists of Pandaria was one of if not the best expansion so far. The story and gameplay content were both stellar. Some people didn't like the Pandaren and the asian art style (they are wrong) but it has been part of Warcraft's story since like 2002-3. They were actually planning to release Pandaren in 2007 with The Burning Crusade expansion but they decided not to. This gave the opportunity to explore their homeland in a fully fledged expansion around them later. This of course would place it in time way before Kung Fu Panda. This cinematic piece is most probably still uses inspirations from the animated movies - which it should cuz they are awesome.

The Pandas in WoW existing longer than the movie. They were introduced in Warcraft 3 i think, long before the movie. Like, in the 90´s. So, you could say, the people making Kung Fu Panda stole the idea from Warcraft ;)

Fun fact, the first pandaren appeared in Warcraft 3: The frozen throne in 2004, and the first kung fu panda movie came in 2008, so it was not a copy. I believe they couldn't put them in WoW until the 5th expansion because of some legal problems with china (they hold the rights to panda representation or something like that)
