I saw Ruston Kelly live this year, he put on an incredible show. He played almost every song from the new record and a bunch of other fan favorites. He deserves so much more hype for how talented he is.

It's fun listening to these, because the vast majority of the discussed albums are by artists I've never heard of, haha. Six total in this vid's batch. I now have multiple Bandcamp tabs open to check out after work. Thanks!

Hey now, I actually enjoyed Used's Artwork and Lies for the Liars era... for me where they fell off was after Vulnerable. Imaginary Enemy and The Canyon were snoozefests, although I did enjoy their last album Heartwork that was a return to form for them in my opinion. But I do agree Toxic positivity isn't very good I would sooner stick it in the Imaginary Enemy and The Canyon category.

Tribulation trying to be Ghost doesn't surprise me too much - I saw them open for Ghost at the SSE Arena in Wembley, so the two bands definitely have had simpatico sensibilities for a while.

Saw Ruston Kelly in Portland Oregon because I won tickets and now the weakness may be my favorite album this year.

I enjoyed this Pupil Slicer album and there is potential in this band going into whatever they do next!

I dunno if it is because it came after I got divorced but First Two Pages of Frankenstein hits different and harder than any National record for me. Got it as my AOTY so far, but I guess there's my personal experience changing the songs for the better.

i literally havent heard anything waterparks have put out since 'FANDOM' (which i hated for its half-assed "experimentation") and seeing them years later sign to fueled by ramen makes me laugh

The fact that people are saying Toxic Positivity is worse than The Canyon, it's probs best that I avoid it for my own sanity. And yes, I did recite the entire intro to I'm A Fake don't @ me. I'mma listen to In Love and Death again, that record goes hard

This album has the 1st Phoebe Bridger song I've ever liked, and now that I know it's a collab w/ others who probably wrote the song I like, it makes a lot more sense.

I'm fearing the day you review the "new" Hollywood undead album. They're my favorite band and whenever you do these i'm afraid that an album that I love gets bashed. But I love your content, keep going through with it!

New Cattle Decapitation My Album of the year

Funny, I feel the same way about the new Enter Shikari but my favorite record by them is Flash Flood, an album I think has a LOT of urgency in its sound.

It took until me playing Pro Skater 3 to find out the bumper music was an actual song, by House of Pain no less!

Crash another great video and since you referenced Swans are you gonna do a review on Swans new record The Beggar,I know Noise Rock isnt your thing but some of your musical endorsemenrs lately it seems you are kinda of coming around and becoming more open to some Weird Noise Rock although Swans has not really been a "Noise Rock " band since the mid 80's to be honest just weird and esoteric but anyhoo have a good one Mr.Thompson!!!

Glad to see Covet on here, though I have to agree it is kind of more of the same from them. Will definitely check out Pearly Drops, PONY, The Aces, The Japanese House, all sound up my alley!

Surprised and curious there is no Trophy Eyes this quarter or hot mulligan from q1 as they both are artist you helped me get into and they both are AotY material for me along with paramore's. Really curious why but you are 1 person and you probably either didn't have time, it flew under the radar or you just didn't have any input on it. Curious which one it is. Good news is that as long time fan(hopped on the band wagon in 2016) I am finally able to support the patreon and join the discord bc i am financially stable enough 😊

The records a 9 tbh. Album of the year, no albums flawless but a 9 is as good as you can get when an albums been out for such a short timespan, I say 3 years until I can give something a 10.

About the whole no swearing in the first 30 seconds thing...Brad Taste in Music got his video demonetized simply because someone in the chat swore in the first thirty seconds. So, you can't even post anything containing a swear in written form in the first 30.

I thought Toxic Positivity was not that bad. I enjoyed most of the record, but it is not as good as the first 2 The Used records.

I think that Formal Growth in the Desert is my least favourite Protomartyr album, but it still contains several great songs and the closing track Rain Garden is really transcendent. I really did not like the National album, although I prefer an even earlier run of their work, just from Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers to Boxer. As I said on the short though, my album of the quarter and of the year so far comes from Scottish punk-ish post-hardcore-ish band Slime City, whose debut album Slime City Death Club is absolutely fantastic. It's sad and angry at the state of the world but also genuinely funny and eminently danceable while doing it. (I see you wearing your Metallica T-Shirt, well name five animals James Hetfield has killed!) It's all bangers but I particularly love the penultimate track "Glasgow is a Shitehole" where blisteringly furious verses attacking the bigotry and inequality of their hometown give way to a pounding, anthemic plea for it to be better taken care of.

agreed 100% on the new Waterparks. the only songs i enjoy are Funeral Grey, Sabotage and End of the Water (Feel). Fuck About It is absolutely terrible and 2 Best Friends literally sounds like a kiddies jingle..

I gotta say, I dont quite get the boygenius records hype, great though it may be. I liked Intellectual Property, it wasnt as good as greatest hits by a FUCKING LONG SHOT, but it was fine, like a light 7/10 because I liked, if not loved about 70% of what they did here, but THANK FUCK you mentioned how annoying cutting off starfucker was. Im gonna be honest, Enter Shikari is a band I want to love but I fall just short, I like solid portions of many songs but its just... fine. Kickass album art tho. I only heard the opener of the Used record, and I was actually... very happy with it, it did scratch some sort of itch sonically, that being said I'm not sure if I'll check out the rest, but if I do ill keep what youve said here in mind. Your first words on Keshas new album are all that needs to be said on how I feel. Piink Tape is at least trying to have fun, some dumb mindless fun, and so I say if it wants to do that, let it do that, as for me ill take the handful of tracks I need and ill be going. Macklemore: When lack of development doesnt grind on your ears because you only hear a couple singles from each album! Quote: Tyler 2023.. My opinion on albums here that I heard are: boygenius's the record is solid Tribulation EP was alright if not as good as they got at their best Wednesday album was fine ig, I didn't got too much out of it I dig new Ruston Kelly record more than Shape and Destroy IP by Waterparks sucks but ig a bit better than the album before it, still pretty awful album from awful band with awful fanbase I like new Enter Shikari album but it's a bit too short The National album is pretty good, definitely overhated by some bald cantaloupes I loved new CattDecap a lot, nothing too crazy new for them but they doing their shtick very well Kaytramine had some fun grooves but overall was a bit of an in one ear album The Used...well I heard worse from them, but Toxic Positivity still wasn't very good, especially lyrical content which from them took a dip in a garbage bin a long time and it still stays there I wish I liked Gag Order more than I do but it's still Kesha's album I enjoyed the most since Rainbow Arlo Parks album was alright but I wasn't feeling the production The Aces album was fun if a bit too short, even if I revisit songs like Girls Make Me Wanna Die a lot I wish it was longer than 2 minutes McKinely Dixon album is amazing even if I like his previous album more this is still a great one New Pupil Slicer album is solid but I feel like this band gets a bit too much praise for not being that interesting I enjoyed Protomartyr going a bit more gothic on new one, giving me Nick Cave vibes is only a good thing Weathervanes goes hard af, definitely get why SpectrumPulse gave it a 10 I like Janelle Monae's album but it's on weaker side of things for her, still decent record of fun horny Summer songs Gunna delivered more than I ever expected from him, I even liked it more than new Young Thug album, but it still not above "fine" for me, Gunna keeps being worst part of Gunna's music Body of Light rules yeah The Japanese House album is alright, can get a bit dull for me Lil Uzi Vert...well they definitely delivered an interesting and varied album, but it absolutely isn't a consistent or "all killer no filler" one, also Chop Suey cover is atrocious and Uzi with BMTH worked better on Amen Macklemore more like...MackleNoMore. Gotem. But yeah this thing isn't good.

I... didn't like Boygenius. Also, in regards to The Used, I compared Toxic Positivity to a Huddy or Jxdn record.
