Fimi X8 Mini V2 Camera Update 2208A - Disaster! 

Sorry to say.. but if my assessment was after 1 ten minute flight (out of the box before any updates) the conclusion would have been a more positive one like Cpt. D. But reviewers that fly or test things once then either shelve them or sell them do not do anyone else any favours. But.. as I always say.. "Prove me wrong"!.. I flew this thing probably 10-12 times since the update just to make sure it was not a glitch. The actual video scenes in the viseo are straight from the sd card.. Play them on a big screen.. they are really.. really bad (Compared to what they were on previous Camera firmwares).

@@GorillamansGarage I believe it! They can call me a "fan boy" or whatever but I'm done with Hubsan, Fimi, Exo, etc... I'm over it. Like I said, you have WAY more patience than I do. I tried to fly the original Fimi Mini maybe 5 times, contacted Fimi- no help and then finally gave up.

@@londenard : It's getting so that all these reviewers that are hammering out content on budget mini drones are just adding to the mayhem . People believe 1/2 their crap and just throw good money after bad. DJI has it's faults as do all of them.. but at least they have a quality product and Autel as well. I'm waiting for Autel to come out with the next eye opener. I'm done with Hubsan & Fimi as well. The only 2 crafts I have been super impressed with this past year have been the Fimi X8SE 2022 and the Hubsan Zino Mini SE,, everything since then has been a waste of time and money. I am not re-loving my Mavic Mini more than the Mini 3. Of late, some of these content creators or reviewers (whatever) just have no morals or are in it for the revenue stream.

Exactly. I mean, if you watch some of these reviews, you'd think the Holystone, Faith, MJX, etc were just as good (or better) than a $1000 DJI drone. I agree that DJI isn't perfect but I'm not sure if there were any issues with the Mini 3 and the big complaints with the Mini 4 Pro is that it's difficult to find your screen recordings and audio is missing when using the RC2... My Fimi Mini roamed around so much when hovering that I couldn't even think about launching it in tight quarters. I can launch the damn Tello in a CLOSET, leave it hover and walk away. Complaints about missing audio or some feature being delayed a couple months is a far cry from buying a drone that flat out won't record decent footage, has a crowd gimbal or won't hover accurately.

@@londenard : The major complaints I have seen about the Mini 3's.. is the foggy lens and the battery latch breaks. Neither one a deal breaker. I have pulled a battery out of one of my Hubsan Mini's and the outer casing came off.. I have had a Hubsan & a fimi take off and run into a wall by themselves.. I have even had a Hubsan take off and simply fly North all by itself.. gone. Then my Mavic Mini (the original Mini drone) still performs as it did from day one.. rock solid and amazing video.. not a lot of features or range.. but solid.

They updated the TX10 Navi2 App. Now it has MApBox?? for maps. I don't know why because the MapBox maps are older than the BingMAps. & China is on Holidays this week.

A very open ended question. The EV values are very subjective. On a nicely lighted day I usually like -0.7 or -0.3 . As for best setting a) I do not like 4k but you should try 25fps or even 24fps for a more cinematic look. As for Saturation etc... in bright , bright daylight I would use manual mode and go up to at least 200 ISO. but in overscast days then Auto is fine. If you like to do post editing.. I suspect that F-Log would be your best bet. I have videos on ISO's and F-Log on the X8 Mini V1.

I am in the middle of testing it. Weather is a hindrance. But at 1st look the camera parameters seems to have been tuned a little better. But that was on a cloudyish day. The craft always did better in overcast conditions. I have my doubts that f2.0 & f2.2 are any different. Knowing Fimi they just corrected a typo. Of the camera glitches I reported (to Fimi as well) nothing (so far) seems to have changed. When I do an update video I have to have 3-4 flights with it before any conclusion. I will be flying it today but it is overcast so it will be hard to tell about saturation etc. On one flight the craft went into auto landing 230m out and I still do not know why. I was able to manually get it back but not without a struggle. I had 18% battery when I got it back. Have you also noticed that the Batteries & RC will not charge if you use a hi output brick charger? I have tried 30W chargers and they wont work.. only the lower 5W ones will (or less).?

@@GorillamansGarage I have no similar experience with charging the batteries. I charge them with a Fsum multi charger with 4 outputs, each output is 9V, 3.2A and they charge quickly and successfully so far. I charge the RC with a regular usb output 5V, 1A.

On yaw movements all drones have some jitter.. The x8se 2022 has less but even the dji mini. 3 has some. Then again.. For the price (I just paid 249 for the orange one) you can't beat it.

@@GorillamansGarage thanks! Thanks! I am thinking of getting the mini X8 V2. I am ESEA (Europe regulations). I believe these are not yet classified to C0 or C1, so they will be considered legacy in 2024. I suppose legally the plus, it will fall in A3 on 2024. So, better get the pro. But I am tempted, because who will be weighing the drone... Lolo

I think the X8 SE and TX10 update is OK but not the new camera one for the X8 Mini.

I know right !? I spoke to a tester for Fimi last year who said that no matter what his group of testers relayed back to Fimi.. they ignored.. so he quit. Now they don't use testers outside their office .

The General idea of firmware/camera update is to compare the before and after effects. As it is (in my past videos) , Fimi has failed to take note of issues with their programming of the craft. Each new update just adds issues for them to address. These videos serve as a database of issues , a cautionary statement and an overview of current performance. I do not sugar coat it and am very blunt with several contacts at Fimi. Their Holiday is now over so let us see if they take notice next week.

@@GorillamansGarage maybe there is a older firmware that's best to use? Maybe install that version and sint upgrade? I'm planning to take mine to the Philippines and I won't be bringing a laptop just cell phones and table. I haven't upgraded yet so not sure if I'd need a laptop.

🤣 Replay at 1.75 speed 🤣 But seriously.. Update Videos do get a little involved and there were so many issues to bring to the table. I suspect many may have your same opinion.
