I was following you on race day, was really bummed when I saw you dropped out. Hope this is not the end of your OTQ journey, 2028 will be here soon enough. Really enjoy the videos and you definitely have a fan in me.
The most emotional part of your video was at 5:00. I was there for my 3rd time still just trying to chase a sub 4. It didn't happen due to an ankle injury from earlier in the year during a trail run. I felt your pain even though our goals were different. Keep at it!
I KNOW you woulda gotten it if you wouldn't have gotten sick. Such hard and consistent work put in-very inspiring. Everything happens for a reason though so don't feel discouraged. Still rooting for you.
Thanks so much for sharing the journey and even the race day woes. I'm sure putting a video out from a botched race was not entirely exciting. Like everyone has said, really bummed about the outcome but you will persevere and make it happen 👍🏼
You’re an awesome runner anyways. I consider myself pretty strong for a runner, but I could only keep up your marathon pace for 5k. Keep up the amazing work and the training!
Dude. That sucks. Sorry this happened to you. I'm always super nervous about getting sick before a race (and I'm not even competing in any real sense).
life getting in the way of races is so unfortunate , did an entire half marathon prep from sep - nov and the thursday before race day i got appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery lmaoo. rip that shape
I can be a number of factors! For me, I have definitively ruled out all nutrition as the cause. It's a strength thing with muscle fatigue. I'm highly susceptible to cramps and getting stronger is the only thing to have helped so far
@@mottesen_runs yeah I need to rule the nutrition out and build some more run specific strength…I have a good base but stopped a lot of strength…caught cramps on my lats too for crying out loud!
Pretty much tried them all, I'm fairly confident It's not dietary (at least in my case). I'm working on a video breaking down all I've learned about muscle cramping from the past 2 years of marathoning. But I had heard the same thing! Let's just say I tried pickle juice and dropped out of the race from cramping..
Did you ever get to the bottom of the cramping?, seems to be an issue plaguing me, always comes outta nowhere when I’m feeling good, I’d rather hit the wall.
Kinda.. Right now I think that my medication is the main culprits for why it’s so bad for me. But I did find that strength training and higher mileage helped significantly
@@mottesen_runs thanks for taking the time to reply, i was thinking it could have been lack of endurance/ conditioning as only happened in my right leg, and I was good with my nutrition this time around. Keep up the great work
