I know you can use Toast 20 Pro to make DVD & Bluray manually, but does it have an automated watch-folder conversion option? If I just want to export an MOV from FCP and have Toast 20 Pro convert that to a basic DVD or Bluray image file, is that possible?
At 50% off I might be tempted. However, I bought an earlier version of Toast (18 Pro) and found it to be a waste of money. Their tech support was not helpful. In the end I gave up and uninstalled it. Can anyone recommend any other blu ray burning software that might be suitable?
Future updates to Final Cut Pro should include more advanced rotoscoping capabilities, such as cutting hair and AI-driven separation of face, body, and background for precise masking and color correction. Additionally, a lightweight 3D tracker option and the ability to export color corrections as LUTs would be highly beneficial for professional editing. It would also be great to have the functionality to directly import 3D assets into Final Cut Pro, enhancing the creative workflow and making the editing process more efficient and dynamic.

I just took some videos on an overcast/rainy day with a GoPro 11, and FCP leaned towards making the clips with people in them slightly pinker/warmer, but for landscape clips of water and sky, it tended to remove any pink casts and make the clips more gray. I asked my wife which of the landscape shots she preferred, and she said, "When have you ever seen pink water?" Funny thing is, I barely noticed the pink cast until FCP removed it because it's so faint.
Great breakdown Jenn! I experienced a little bit of a magenta color cast when using the enhance light and color feature as well. I love how quickly we can use it though, to create a good starting point for tweaking the color grade 😄🙌🏼
Thanks for the overview of the new features. I'm not happy that Apple has dropped support for burning disks in FCPX. Isn't it possible to burn to disk from Compressor?
This is great I believe the smooth slo-mo is great u might have to shoot on a lil faster shutter speed but still amazing, also I was really nervous to know what they eliminated lol who cares about CDs :)

I like the Enhanced Light and Color feature, but I think there should at least be the option for the adjustments to adapt if the lighting conditions change within the clip. As it is, it’s apparently just calculating some sort of average correction and applying it to the whole clip. Of course I could break the clip where lighting conditions change, but it’d be nifty if it would optimize fluidly as the clip progresses.
Hi, the 10.8 update has some bugs. Gets stuck using masks. It also stops with «Transform», «Crop» and «Distort» as soon as they start to be used. I found out where the problem comes from. They probably didn't test this update in this situation: The problem in the masks ("Transform", "Crop" and "Distort") which crash the program arises if the three-finger dragging function is enabled in the trackpad settings (Accessibility - pointer control - trackpad options - use dragging - three-finger drag). By deactivating the "use trackpad for dragging" option, the problem with these three masks is resolved. As regards the «Sample color» mask of the «Green screen Keyer» effect, some small problems remain. That is, it is a bit slow in action. Macbook pro M1 Max, 32 GB ram
Hello guys! One question here after updated my FCP to 10.8 version: When I move the playhead using arrows keys (left/right) the audio is not skimming!!! If I move the playhead with my mouse/trackpad, audio skimming works fine. Audioskimming button is enabled and on. Is anybody knows what's going on or facing the same thing? It's very important to me to hear what's playing when I use arrows keys on my keyboard, that way I can edit sounds in a better way... Help!!!
after updated .. i saw smooth slow motion & learning machine .. but after that step on another clip smooth slow motion & learning machine were hidden & not found them .. why ?
Before the update if I double klicked on a color correction in the video inspector it jumped directly into the effect. Now after the update it always wants me to rename the color correction/effect. Does anybody know how I can change this double klick setting?
There is a LOT you didn't mention and should warn people about! After the upgrade I loaded an old project that was finished. Made a duplicate before I started. Nearly all mu music I used turned red (missing file) all the crossdisolve I used turned red (missing file) cross dissolve has dissapeard from 10.8!! All the text I used turns red, disappeared from 10.8 as-well!! So a finished project changed in another 7 hours work, to get it going again!
After consulting the Apple helpdesk (thank you so much for the exelent help!) i found out it is VERY important that BEFORE you update to version 10.8, you should update the MacOS to version 17.5!!! After i did that i put back my old version of FCP, then ran the update 10.8 and now everything is back the way it should be! Not one "missing file" errors anymore.
I'm kind of annoyed. After the second to last update, when I applied the green screen effect, it would automatically take a guess at the key...and it did a great job of it! Now, after this latest updated, it has gone back to forcing me to use the sample color within the effect...and I end up having to do a lot of adjustments throughout the clip since my green screen isn't perfect. It says in the manual that it will attempt a key automatically...but it no longer does it. Am I missing something?
Installed 10.8 on my Macbook M1 Pro and M2 Macbook Air. Tried to work with files from the Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone - doesn't work, FCP freezes. (??)
The 'draw mask' feature doesn't work since the 10.8 update. If i select the area with the pen tool, the Final Cut will stop working and won't be able to use any of the features. It works if you press and touch it instead of clicking with a touch on the trackpad, but it's still very slow. Does anyone know a workaround?
@@JennJagerPro Can you still use Apple Compressor to create DVD/Bluray by setting up a watch-folder and then exporting an MOV from FCP to the watch-folder for Compressor to process automatically?
@@Heijdenskarweiproducties To go back to a previous version: First, delete the 10.8 app and then unzip the old version. For projects modified using the 10.8 version, you won't be able to open them in previous versions, so you'll need to open your last backup version (movies/finalcutbackups) you opened in 10.7. That means you'll likely lose work you'd done in 10.8, but if you're really having issues with 10.8 it may be worth it. FWIW, I've not had problems with the update.
Not adding auto captions is criminal. Every other app has it and it's been very important for social media creators for years at this point. I love cutting clips in Final Cut but it feels really restrictive beyond that.
I have German Language Bug, that is my command set in FCP/Motion/Compressor is in German and not in English..I have sent feedback to Apple, hoped 10.8 would fix German Language Bug..it did not

I think I just switched to DR. I can't believe a company once devoted to creatives is ignoring one of the most important ways to be creative in our time. Shame on you Apple. Logic Pro is the only reason I haven't switched to my PC yet.

Found it. "Smooth Slo-Mo in Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) only works on Mac computers with Apple silicon. This feature uses an AI-enhanced algorithm to create slow-motion visuals.
Going to keep it real, Final Cut Pro is the worst of the Major NLE's. I only use it when I shoot in ProRes Raw and dont feel like converting over to another format so I can cut in Davinci. I say that as someone who hates the limitations of Premier Pro btw. It is like there is some conspiracy out there to only have NLEs that are only good at certain things, but not at others, so your forced to keep switching between them. But thanks for the update on 10.8. I will be skipping it however. Davinci > Premier > Davinci
That's so sad ): FCP is far behind comparing to other editing softwares. Even mobile apps has features considered today as BASIC for editing. I could describe here every little thing they could do to catch up, but the list is endless.
Incredibly underwhelming. I've made the jump to Da Vinci now. Not writing off FCP, I love it. But I feel like the love is not reciprocated. Time to stop simping I guess. Farewell my love.
