My favorite feature is definitely the 3D objekt import thing in Motion I‘ve been waiting for so long for this feature and it’s finally here But the proxy-management is also pretty awesome

You mean IMF? IMP *_replaces_* DCP. DCP is a singular format for distribution. IMF covers any gioven variations of possible deliverables in a single file. If you want to know more simply check out the links in the description. Cheers, and thanks for watching!
The crucial thing about overlapping fades is that's it's clearly no use for dialogue, but really as as a means of softing joins between say half a dozen shots from the same location. Usually that's all it takes, wind noise, traffic, and so, since the source is the same location. Previously the fades just dipped to silence which was neither use nor ornament.

@@postpros-e I want to bulk convert prores RAW to 4444 to get the 12 bit for grading in resolve, this seems like money well spent considering you can choose the log profile and even apply a corrective LUT in a batch workflow. Thanks again
Well I updated and edited my latest video in exactly the same way as usual. Then I shared to Master File and the file size for a 21 minute video is 8.25gb, when usually it would be 5 gb. The settings seem to be the same, though I didn't have to change to 3840x2160 as it was already set to that. I used to have to go into settings to change to that resolution. I cannot understand why the increase in file size for the exported file.
You'd have to give _a lot_ more info than that for one to be able to even _guess_ at why. Depending on the codec used for example there is no "usual" size for anything, depending on the content of the video. E.g. no two videos of the same length exported with H.264 or even ProRes will ever have the same size.
@@postpros-e I understand that. My settings were identical , Format: Computer, Codec: H.264 Better Quality, the only other option available was H.264 Faster Encode, Color Space STandard Rec 709. Audio Format: AAC. I checked the file size on a video exported last week, then chose to export(share/master file) in the new version. The original was 2.36gb and the new version was 3.96gb.
Honestly, for an iMac mid2011 model owner and a non prores hobby video enthusiast, do these updates matter? First and foremost the iMac has to be upgraded... for me, I will wait.
I downloaded motion but is does not do that with the 3D models . And 3D space doesn’t have like on the bottom . I download 3D models but can’t even see them or open .
@@chio5026 Then I can only assume it's your machine. Which Mac do you have? Does it have Metal compatible graphics? Because otherwise I have no idea why it wouldn't work. So you're saying you don't even see the 3D models in the library as shown in the video?? 🤨
Hello, I just updated but I probably shouldn't have done so while in the midst of working on a project...I now cannot open my library unless I update it but I'm worried the files will be lost or changed. It's a bit film project that I have been working on for a long time so I cannot risk to lose it! Is there any way out? Thanks!
That's kinda why I explicitly said to watch my _HOW TO UPDATE SAFELY_ video at the very beginning! If you haven't yet updated your libraries then watch it *now* BEFORE you do! Link in the description!
Added and editable curves in the existing Video Animation window would be a huge improvement, yes. But anything beyond that would only introduce an additional level of complexity that I don't see Apple going for since that would only make matters worse i.e. too complex for the vast majority of users. Especially in light of Motion, which has pretty much any and everything you need in terms of keyframing that anyone with higher demands can jump to. Of course reintroducing the "Send to" function from the timeline would aid in simplifying that workflow accordingly.

When I try to consolidate proxies into new proxy library, I'm not getting the dialogue you show at 13:19. When I Consolidate proxies later, I get "there are no files to consolidate. the files already exist in the selected location" which is patently not true. Any clues?
Or, conversely, what is the best way of taking an existing (big, 2 TB) library and creating new, proxy-only version on a different drive. Right now it looks like a two lengthy step process - create proxies on original drive first (hours of work) and copy that onto the other drive later another hours of copying). Is there a way to do this in one step? Thanks!
@@postpros-e I know that, thanks. It doesn't solve my issue though :) It behaves differently on my system. The "Proxy media does not exist for some clips" dialogue with the Transcode button you are getting is crucial and I'm not getting it.
@@kloakovalimonada I would have hoped that the video made that abundantly clear. Maybe rewatch? You can have your proxies generated DIRECTLY to wherever you want them right from the getgo. Or even simply generate them *_externally_* any way and anywhere you like and relink. Done.
@@kloakovalimonada "I'm not getting it" … then one can only assume they in fact already exist or simply do not need proxies. But then that's super simple to test! Consolidate to wherever and remove the originals and see what, if anything, goes offline when in PROXY PREFERRED! If nothing does… you're golden!
