I think it's incredibly sad how different Clover and Frisk's battles with him are. Frisk gets to hear about how monsters love him, give them hope, and how he suffered a horrible tragedy that lead to the decisions he made. Clover gets none of that, only that he's the king who has taken the lives of the five humans he sought after and one who sounds incompetent in handling his people. Only knowing that, Clover is nothing but angry at him. They pull out their gun and want to fight, give justice to the ones he has taken. Unfortunately, that anger can only get Clover so far. Add on the fact that Asgore hesitates with Frisk much more as the final human, his final chance to redeem himself and make amends. The final soul to freeing the monsters and fully acting upon the war against humans. With Clover, he does not feel as much pressure in that moment and if the child wishes nothing but to fight, so be it. Clover doesn't stop to talk, driven by emotion and justice. On all sides, it's just... extremely sad.
Asgore isn’t as nice as in Undertale you know still no to little consequences when frisk gets there it’s kill them and you must kill all humans or they win and well nothing changes
actually, that would be battle against a true hero. Tbh idk exactly what the vibe of this song is, it feels very solemn but triumphant at the same time just like Asgores theme, but here the music seems to favor Asgores victory rather than the humans

I saw gameplay of this. Man, despite not able to fight back, the attacks were almost replicated exactly. Strange how Clover went down easily though when we know later in the timeline Frisk beats Asgore.
I remember seeing somewhere else that Clover is probably questioning their sense of Justice right now, since in order to get here you'd have to spare everyone *except* the final boss. So I'd say that they are in a weird state of inaction if that makes sense because they don't know what the proper thing to do now is (For example, YOU when defeating original Flowey for the first time, you probably questioned your options for a good 5-10 seconds before choosing. Think that, but for the entirety of Asgore's battle) Hence why unlike in other battles, you don't have your 4 options. You are out of options. Especially since, even though Clover pulls out their gun at the start, you can also see them looking around as if they are thinking to themselves "There is really no morally correct way out of this". Either Asgore dies and their sense of Justice gets even more twisted, or *they* die and all it takes is one more soul to break the barrier. Later in the timeline, Frisk ends up defeating Asgore because they still had a single option, being the FIGHT command. It's hard to explain, but they didn't have that "Questioning their own ethics" thing that Clover / Justice had. And plus, their MERCY command got deleted anyways, so the only way to escape this fight now is to try and get Asgore to flee, which almost happens but not quite due to Flowey's existence or Asgore's regret. Edit : Even the music reflects how I imagine Clover feeling. It's Asgore's theme, but *wrong* in just the right way. You want to fight back, you want to survive, but deep down you know you can't. You shouldn't win this fight.
@@shibainu2528 Not really. This is the only battle in pacifist where Clover points ther gun at their enemy. As Asgore pretty much says, Clover is *angry* at Asgore, and rightfully. This is the man who killed 5 innocent children for no reason except cowardice and past hatred. Clover is more than right to want to punish him for his sins. Especially after doing nothing but the right things their whole journey (well except maybe Ceroba, though she was asking for it literally, so Clover isnt evil for enacting her wish after she suffered so much). The tragedy is that they cannot, for the fact that their LV is low they cannot defeat an Asgore still in his murderous past rampage before the guilt fully consumed him in the original UT. This can end up in two ways: Either Clover dies forever which leads to the original Undertale, or they somehow get glimpses of this in Flowey future resets and decide to finally, for once, change their fate in this circle of death, and enact REVENGE.
@@mechamedegeorge6786 Well to be fair, the options / health bar aren't there at ALL, it's just the battle box, the endless attacks, and your soul. Who's to say that Clover didn't do something similar to Asgore taking out their trident and destroying your Mercy option. Clover took out their gun for intimidation, but decided not to take their turns so it can just *end* especially when in the perfect pacifist route, you still give up your soul. If Clover really wanted to enact revenge despite everything they have learnt through the flawed pacifist route, including Starlo's last words eating away at them, wouldn't Clover at least had a chance to fight back or have a turn?
The “you need LV 20 to break canon” statement is such a good line since to an extent, that is also true in undertale since frisk kills asgore although they shouldn’t have had an action yet.
I was playing ulc earlier today and this on my playlist came on perfect timing with waterfall dust sans where he didnt give me a chance to fight back and he won obviously
@@j.hawkins8779 I also thought that but Flowey wanted to get the souls that's why he keeps telling Clover to go to Asgore. Flowey even slips up saying "get me my souls" in the Genocide route.
Asgore as strongest monster in the underground could attack without letting enemy get its turn. This could be used to make Genocide route cannon for Undertale Yellow. Probably several souls of 6 will go on genocide route and Yellow soul it's more fitting to that. It's too odd when Clover forgets about his point and just sacrefies himself. But if he gets to the Asgore and sees humans souls, he puts gun towards Asgore. It means that Clover gets to the underground not just for he wants to know what happens with others 5 fallen humans but to avange them

To be completely honest with ya,this version of Asgore is better thsn the normal one. What id doiswheni get to Asgore in normal undertale,ill play this,it sounds better!
