THIS. I’ve been restarting lately to get certain cards I want at the beginning this really helps and there’s no penalty

I wasn’t sure if they could ruin the chances because then it would start over if you get what I mean, but I kept restarting anyway, and eventually I won every game. One time I won the first time. Lol

It's really a poorly designed mini game. There is no benefit to beefing up squares in the long run just removing your opponents ability to place cards at all Trumps the quality of cards.

​@@testtube173 def not the case. The game becomes more complicated as you progress. You get debuffs and card removal and the quality of the card def plays a huge factor.

@@thefallenangel01 not so far, on chapter 11 at what chapter do you face any actual challenging opponent and what did you have to swap out two cards on an deck? It’s all the same so far just two tactics the AI uses every time with every deck after boat tourney and onward for me.

@@testtube173 More difficult opponents will end up using cards that either replace their own with stronger cards or can end up destroying/debuffing cards you had out though. If not that, they can end up having cards that overbuff the points of their cards.

Agree. Im just learning basics still on QB 130 hrs in lmao I already pretty much ignored it through the main story even the tournament I just ignored and skipped

I was not digging it very much at all at first, but now I'm excited to get to the next town for new opponents.

I don’t see how anyone hates it def better than any previous minigame created from final fantasy and def one of the easiest

The in game tutorial is not clear at all so I lost the intro in the beginning too. But after watching this video, I ‘ve been wining since.

Just do this: Never place the second card in a row before your opponent unless you have to. Pick a row based on your deck and play for that. If your opponent plays a card in that same row and you've only played one card in that row move to the next and play there. Once your opponent plays the second card in that row play yours and take over the pegs.

The more i play it the more i end up getting annoyed at the game because it just wastes my time with a shitty minigame i don't care about, big L overall

@@Kumire_921 felt like that about a week ago, unlocked the cards i saw in shops and then became addicted lol, as long as you keep a good chunk of the cards 1-position ranked then make sure they can build up, or enough have score bonuses, you're good, but early games id say take up as much space as possible.

@@king_sheridan_ yeah since you can buy cards at vendors I'll just do that after the main story so it'll be easier, if i can't rush it though I'll just ignore it.

​@@AmocoruBeen using this exact same strategy and it is still not enough for Regina. Which doesn't surprise me, because the more I play against her because her cards are straight-up broken compared to what the player even has access to before playing her. This is coming from someone that got the hang of the game and beat everyone up to this point. I've gotten all of the decks that you can get from the vendors right before you're forced to play. It's still not enough. Mainly because the cards I have access to do not have the degree of synergy or even take up the amount of spaces I'd need to get to the center of the board quicker. Regina will set down a single card that will fill out every space on her side of the board while also buffing other cards by MULTIPLE points. So not only is she able to take the center board in the 2nd turn, she will automatically keep gaining points the more she places cards on the board. The developers did not think through this section of the game. I have a perfect understanding of the game, but it doesn't change the objective fact that there are numerous factors that are rigged against the player with your match against her.

Yea same I haven’t had trouble other than having to swap out a card or two using the *starting tutorial deck* lmao. They make all these prebuilt and Walmart edition hearthstone faux-builds but the game is only three lanes and very linearly and badly designed so you just get control by using some space taking cards. Anytime you try to use some niche build etc you have to try multiple attempts to win whereas just spamming cheap cards to control deck wins on such a small board. Too bad it could have been expanded on but it won’t ever be a true card game with multiple viable builds for endgame where it’s just computer using the same two tactics every match. Edit: I’m in chptr 11 still easy so far. Came here to see most using same builds.

Had a special match in Gold Saucer and had 43 or so. I could probably get higher with some newer cards, like one that adds 10 if I win the lane.

I would suggest having a couple heavy hitter cards, Ifirit, Mithril Golem for example. Along with boosting strength cards. The main point of survival is the first two rounds to get the center lane for whatever bonus it grants.

Haven't played too much with the concept, but Pheonix buffs 4 cards when it is destroyed. So it could be interesting to build a deck around destroying cards as well.

@@seafarinhare I want to try a destroying deck. I dont think i have enough cards to make it fully effective yet. But several small cards that die and give an additional card with tonberry king as long as they cant kill it i would assume you only need the one row and always win.

I played some opponents who love to destroy their own cards. With the right cards, that can be a devastating plan that will win eventually. For example, there’s a card that gets stronger every time you play a card from your hand and others that get buffed when cards are destroyed. Using those, and you can eventuallY build up enough power to overwhelm anything. But it’s a bit technical and needs the right cards. I’ve considered building it, but haven’t really sat down and worked out the kinks.

Yep. Think I still prefer Triple Triad, but Queen’s Blood is a great game, too.

I disagree. I find this more enjoyable than Triple Triad, actually. This is my new favorite FF card game.

My guess is the people upset are completionists. The card game is mostly optional for story but not if you want to get 100%. I'm not much of a completionist myself but i get it. Me personally I'm satisfied with doing all the Chadley Intel stuff.

People understood 9’s card game? I swear I never understood how battles worked in that. I would play a stronger card and it would still lose 1v1 battles.

@@Johnjones88888Do you have to win? I know I won, but I'd been playing it the whole time. Most of the time you don't have to win to progress the story. I know FFIX had a similar tournament as part of the story but you didn't have to win.

You should know that FF is literally known for having tons of minigames. I agree with QB being dumb and I don’t like it but you should have expected minigame mania with this is all I’m saying

I agree if it was optional that would be one thing and it would be reasonable. But you can’t progress with the story unless you win is ridiculous. I’m not into card games I didn’t pay over $100 to be forced to play a stupid card game. And if you criticize it people will attack you and say “git gud or “skill issue smh. Again I didn’t pay $100 to git gud at a card game this is Final Fantasy not some Yu Gi Oh game. This might sound like an overreaction but I’m thinking about deleting the game because of this. I can’t win so therefore I can’t progress with the story.

I just found out that you can forfeit and drop out of the tournament but I still think it’s unnecessary to be tied to the main story. It should be a side quest at best.

Hopefully some tips from our guide helped out. Yeah RNG in any game can get annoying to deal with!
