Haha yeah, honestly my untrained ear doesn't even pick up the cymbal unless I'm specifically trying to listen for it, but it was hilarious that it was a big deal for Tony. Definitely chaotic fight for sure.

This is wild - I never paid attention to how wild the mix on this track was while playing the game because it was such a frenetic section. In isolation, I actually don’t find this track to be super pleasant - even though it lands kind of perfectly for this boss fight. That’s the magic of production and direction, I guess.

I haven't heard this theme in a long while... and just hearing it and picturing the event where it's taking place.... I got goosebumps on my legs!!! I didn't know that was possible!

I can't really remember well but I think this theme mixes like 4 different tracks from the game into it. Cloud's theme, Those Who Fight Further and the regular battle theme and maybe even Aerith's Theme. It definitely matches great with the boss itself, since it's ending of a long Colosseum gauntlet and you end fight one of the most intense and chaotic bosses in the game.

lol, yeah i would not listen to this for leisure, but in-game it definitely fits, especially with all the in-game sound effects from the battle and the announcers shouting on top of everything, it is pure chaos

Actually this is a new OST. It's a combination of many different FF7 osts and motifs. It also plays during an intense boss battle. One which most of us met their first game over. Hence we ended up hearing it many many times. It gains a whole nother sentiment because of the intensity of the battle. This music is design to get you inmersed in the battle.

The FF music in generally has always felt so special to me. Zanarkand from FFX is one of my favourite songs of all time. It's the epitome of hauntingly beautiful.

This is one of my favourite boss themes as it incorporates the Main Theme of FF7, the original game’s regular battle theme and the original game’s boss battle theme. It makes sense since Hell House was a regular enemy in the original game which got upgraded to a boss in the Remake The part that you liked the development of at 6:29 is a direct quote from the main theme. I don’t know why they included the main theme since although it’s the overworld track as well, it does not play for the first time for another 3-4 hours of the game in the original, but it sure makes the piece sound great

This fight was such a pain in the rear that when I played through it I didn't really listen to the track. Hearing it on my own while sitting and drawing like a year later made me lose my mind. When they guitar and the choir started going in I had to pause it and go "HOLD UP!...is this the same song?!" They really went in on this track, and for a character that wasn't even a boss originally. Haha.

I personally think there's a big part in this soundtrack and its battle themes to just pump up the player. I remember fighting the first boss (Scorpion Sentinel), where the song is even more pumpy and it absolutely bashes your adrenaline into overdrive while trying to figure out what you are supposed to do while the missiles are flying and the ceiling is falling apart! 😂 Nevertheless, solid arrangements in this soundtrack and they also work fine outside the game context. Nobuo Uematsu and the others did a fantastic job with the FF7 Remake OST!

I suspect the cymbal sound was blaring like that because it kind of had to cut through the rest of the sounds in the battle. I could be wrong, though. It could be a mixing issue.

Yeah this is really odd to listen to really. The fight itself is wild, and you're so focused on it that you don't even hear how crazy the music is getting. Or i mean, you hear it, but the craziness of the music just adds to the craziness of the fight. Listening to it by itself is actually discordant

When listened to as a standalone piece, this song has way too much volume for such a long piece. It's very much in opposition to Uematsu's original score which is a pleasant listen all the way through and reflects a shift away from the melodic tracks the game is known for. It might be ok in-game, but this is a miss for me. Which is strange because Uematsu has the sole composer credit for the track (although the arranger credit goes to Kengo Tokusashi & Mitsuto Suzuki according to vgmdb). Obviously, there are some leitmotifs from the original FF7 tracks sprinkled within.

@@DrumRollTonyReacts While not exactly the same song, this boss theme's motifs are based largely off "Those Who Fight Further" which is the sort of generic boss theme of the original FF7. There's also a Black Mages cover of it if you want a more modern yet faithful rendition of the piece (The Black Mages is Nobuo Uematsu's own band, making it a sort of self-cover).

The cymbals were pretty jarring, agree then there was some muddy percussions sections I felt were overdone, so wide it takes away from the melodies being introduced. Is that electric violin instead of guitar?

I think I'm in the minority among ff7 fans, but I significantly prefer the original or distant worlds soundtracks (which are pretty faithful to the original just orchestrated). I feel like most of the arrangements just layer motifs from the original osts (and never actually play the full thing) and keep repeating them. It's very busy, but I find it boring. It works in the game because it's loud epic music while you're trying not to get killed, but I don't really listen to the ff7r osts outside the game. Some of the arrangements worked well and I really liked Uematsu's original piece for FF7R Hollow Skies though. I thought ff15 and 16 soundtracks were a bit more effective as far as the new ff games go.

@@BeingBadAtMaths I know it's good. But no one will talk about it the same way they talk about 7's OST. If you ask a 16 fan to name more than 5 memorable ff16 tracks a year from now, they won't be able to. I can name at least 50 from 7 remake.

This is how you can tell ff7 fans will eat anything up as long as it says FF7 in it. This song is absolute trash and people will still defend it by saying "it's supposed to sound like that!" K. 👍
