This is EXACTLY how i killed Ruby Weapon as a kid. Whenever we discuss FFVII I bring up this memory. It was honestly one of the top 5 gaming memories I have ever had.
Mine it was with Sephiroth, I couldn't beat him, so I spent hours and hours and hours grinding until lvl 99 on that previous area because I was pissed. If I'm not mistaken I grinded it for more than 1 day!!! Just to get this Limit Break to instakill him as the first move lol. Didn't even know this Limit Break until that point.
What’s the other 4? One of mine was when this game first came out I wasn’t even a teen yet and I hit pause while the timer was going during the first reactor bomb and ran to the store; came back to a game over.. that’s when I learned the clock doesn’t stop in every game and I’ve always checked since then.
I never found out about this when I was young. What i did was grinding Kotr and Hades materia to max to stun him with Hades and do damage with Kotr. My older brother showed me how to have two characters dead in the beginning and to revive them with Pheonix. He was convinced Ruby cannot be beaten until his 7 years younger brother showed him :D
I love it when you enter battle on the back of a Chocobo, seemingly fine, but the battle screen has Cloud just eating dirt, meaning his Chocobo didn't give a shit.
@@redX111t I always found him rather subpar. And his limits are too random to rely on both in terms of effect and damage. Hell, I prefer _Vincent's_ Limits to Cait Sith's.
Well it's coded to roll past 63 outta 64 times if you need the third face. It goes by the game time clock. However you can use menu tricks to override it. Most people will never see it casually or even trying for it legit.
Nope. One hit vs one attack aren't always the same. Just like multiple hits can be one attack (i.e. 4× Cut, Omnislash, Angermax, etc.) So technically, Ruby was one shotted. He also never said it was an OTK just OHK
I discovered this way back in the 90s. I fought with a full party. Cait sith was left with a limit break. Slots rolled up and i got cait sith slots for game over. I’m see a death spell and expect the miss text. Then ruby dissolves and i’m dumbfounded 😂
That's insane. I never would get Cait Sith's limit break that high because I was too scared of that 3rd reel going wrong. It's happened once and I said never again
You would get it wrong anyways... there's flags preventing the final reel letting you do it correctly unless you know which flags prevent it or you know about the mashing bug
for the people complaining it isn't a 1 hit kill, it technically is, as game over literally one shots no matter what. first hit is there sure but if he would've gotten the slots first try it'd be a 1 hit anyways. stupid complaint
Cat shit is, imagine being awful and basing your whole playstyle on the rng of a slot machine that if you get one wrong on cait face it murders your party
If you hold Square it freezes the reels so you can spam tap untill your just before the right picture. Same applies in the battle square to manipulate which reel you select
Still literally the most difficult bosses to beat beat in ff7, getting 2 shotted is still pretty damn good, to put in the words of another RU-vidr a robot cat with a gambling addiction.. lol
I think what he meant by the title is that you can use Cait Sith's slot ability to get a one hit ko move on practically anything if you hit the right combination
@@astreanightfang2622 So it stupidity. You really think it technically matters if it was two or not? The first hit wasn’t required. It would have been a one hit without it.
Okay I'm going to need everyone to shut up about there being two hits instead of one because there was actually just one hit the first hit was an actual hit but the game over move is technically not a hit since they don't take damage they just die.
@@shoken4421 Arguably the game doesn't have a damage cap what with overflow. Also One Hit Kills don't have to do damage. Deathstrike on weapons and abilities count as long as there isn't a technical miss. (I mean legit miss not miss when the game mean immune. The attack has to connect.) Therefore, given Game Over is a single vs multihit and it actually connects bypassing immunity to death, it counts.
Yeah its insanely rare if you dont use any tricks to pull it off. Ff7 is my favorite game, ive got countless hours on it since it original released back in 97. Ive never gotten it without tricks and even then its hard. Sophie in ff8 has an instant kill against anything as well but its even harder to get.
Easy strategy alternative: have HP plus and 9999 hp on cloud, be level 70-99, kill your other team members. (Negates whirlsand) Preparation: Armor mystile Accessory ribbon 1. Kotr level 2 (that's all you need) paired with hp absorb 2. Hades paired with mime W summon (preferably paired with magic plus but not required, only helps increase damage) That's it. W summon, choose Hades, then choose Kotr. Then from then on *only* hit mime when your turn comes each time. Hades keeps him paralyzed, kotr heals you every turn. Mime. Wait. Mime. Wait....so on. He stays paralyzed, you deal 13 hits and heal each turn via kotr. He may counter with Ultima but it won't kill you if you have 9999, and you'll heal anyway. Don't press any buttons except mime.
I... understand now why people don't use Cait Sith. Good thing I didn't use him in my playthrough. I wish I used the others though. My first playthrough of OG was just Team Avalanche. (Cloud, Tifa and Barret)
Dont worry, you basically need to get extremely lucky to get that. There is a hidden counter with the limit break, even if you line the first two correctly and try to line the third one, if the game decides you aint getting it, you aint getting it. Even with programs that slow the game down. Oh and the funny thing is, you screw up the third, its instant kill on you
If you grew tired of trying this trick, use mine. 1. Have Cloud equipped with w-item (HD & XP/Elixer) the rest is counter-attack materias. Spam w-item let the counter do the damage. Though you need plenty of time to have atleast 6 master counter-attack materia but once you have it, even emerald weapon is a Joke.
@@Station9.75 have you tried it? I've tried your counter-mime, hpa-kotr and you forgot finalatk-life. It's so booooring and long long long animation. plus mastering those materias will take more time than mastering counter-atk. I couldnt call it easiest. Just try my way and you'll be laughing how easy to defeat those weapons.
I didn't manage to defeat ruby and emerald weapon in 1998. I'm sure ruby and emerald weapon will appear in FF7 remake. I swear I will defeat them in the remake. I'll use youtube tips or trainer. I don't care as long as I see them dead on my monitor. This is a two decades grudge. (Tool's Grudge is playing in the background).
so as I watched the slots spin, I realized something - it kind of slows down for a fraction of a second every time it passes over a piece of Cait Sith's face. I suppose that's the secret to successfully getting this result (I could never get this to work when I played the game).
you can practice your timing. That's how i did it. I didnt rig the slots or anything. I practiced. I trained my ears, i knew when i had to press and I was able to get Game over out every single time I wanted it. That was many years ago, though.
If there was ever a time for Pikachu's shocked face. lol It originally took me like an hour and a half give or take to beat this thing not counting all the failed attempts fighting it the hard way, and here you come - bam. 2 turns. lmao Still have the memory card, though I doubt it survived the test of time. Also the first time I've seen that slot outcome too. Kinda lost respect for Sephiroth after beating this thing... then the Kingdom Hearts games happened.......... he must've heard me talk that good shit... to this day I haven't beaten him in either game. lol
Everyone saying it's a two hit when in reality it's about a 7th hit, for those who count ruby weapons moves as well... Possibly more though so I'm just starting this pointless comment thread to jokingly say the real hit count
Either he cheated or he had a bot press the button. You literally can not get this against bosses, the game will make the last slot fail on purpose if you get the first two faces. The only way to get it to work is with the square smash trick and perfect timing or to use a bot.
Something about cat sith for some reason has similarities with king Arthur's cat friend in seven deadly sins. Do t know why I feel like they're the same character haha.
Robot toy cat kills ruby weapon with one hit, I can't believe they let that happen in og, this won't happen in the remake, I like to see how it will work with the new battle system, IF they reintroduce them.
I was able to preform this just recently. Took me 3 battles and like 12 hits but it works. So many people complain that this is a cheat way to fight. Right I want to spend hours grinding just to win against these weapons but its cool to use a hacking system to get 1000 jumps in ff 9 🙄
If every megaboss/summon has a OHKO, there's no legitimate reason why Cait Sith can't keep his in Remake Part 3. They better do all the lvl 4 limit breaks justice.
about as cheap as when I used the End against the final form of Ultimecia really early on in the fight. I didn't know what it did at the time (I had fought her before and knew how long it usually took) and I was so confused when the battle just ended.
i beat the boss and sweat all my body as a child, i just see a video of yuffi killing it by using limit with 7777 hp and now youtube show me this. At this point i'am afraid to open the next ruby killing video on youtube. A dude probably found a way to just crush it on the map with the airship.
He failed the first try. The second time he uses an insta kill ultimate limit attack. Whatever the enemy, whatever hp he has or how strong it is, it's dead in one hit.
That is NOT a one hit kill son. You did damage twice in a row, making it a two shot kill. If it were a one-shot kill, then it would have been killed on that very first attack. Learn proper term definitions.
@@benjaminsimoneau5678 so if i shoot you in the leg and then shoot you in the head it only counts as one hit because the headshot was the "death" move?
@@generalgrevious815 I hear what you're saying but I don't think it is a fair comparison, he didn't kill the boss with damage, so the damage he did with the first slot roll didn't really matter... If you booped me on the nose with your finger and then disappeared me with a magic wand... I still call it a one shot kill..
@@benjaminsimoneau5678 yeah but then your blurring the rules of what counts as a one shot kill. Lets be fair at the end of the day it doesnt matter either way its not like this was for some kind of record but wording bugs me lol Mainly because back when this game came out i had a friend that bragged for weeks that he beat ruby weapon when no one else at the time could. So me and a couple friends went over to his house to see how he did it and the fucker has a game shark plugged in lol Now dont get me wrong i love the game shark but this little bastard claimed it didnt matter that he used a game shark because all that mattered was that "he beat ruby, it doesnt matter how" lol 9999 damage every hit, unlimited HP and MP, unlimited limit break.
@@tiktokka9689 one of ff7's optional bosses. Makes the final boss look like a random encounter. Near impossible to beat without one of the few complex materia (magic) combinations that basically beats him for you, and without actually killing most of your party yourself before the battle starts. Probably the hardest enemy in any final fantasy ever, if not one of the hardest bosses in gaming in general.
