One of the best and most ominous tracks from the original. When you get to the forgotten capital your at a point in the story where you know something big is about to happen, but you don’t know exactly what and the song captures the uncertainty you feel and the overall atmosphere of the location itself. This music matches perfectly with the forgotten capital. The SNES version captures what makes the original so good, great job!
They stuggled because Squaresoft merged with Enix, becomming Square Enix. Their focus shifted from making sure they produce quality RPGs to a more financial-first mentality. They pushed the developer teams too hard, made impossible deadlines, and sacrificed quality for a quick buck. FFX was the start of the downfall, but the team was able to push something pretty good out. After that, it really started to decline. FFXII was released half done; it was supposed to be a 2 disk game, but "budget cuts" forced the developers to wrap the game up in 1 disk which is pretty apparent when you get to the end of the game how rushed everything is to the final battle out of nowhere seemingly. FFXIII had a big graphical update, but SquareEnix was so focused on their own property engine that they lost track of what a FF is supposed to be about. Another game half done due to wasted time and money. FFXIV came along and was left to rot until we all know what happened with it's "rebirth." FFXV was in development hell for what seemed like 10 years because they didn't learn from their mistake with FFXIII in trying to create their own engine AS they were making the game using that same engine... Morons... I'm pretty sure that Nobuo saw the change in direction the new Square Enix was heading for and bailed, wanting nothing to do with the terrible oversight and greedy business practices laid out.
One of my favorite parts in the game and one of the most intruiging places too. Everytime i come back to the Forgotten Capital, that aura of mystery and the humming of the chorus gives aways such a foreboding feeling and still, you can't help but to stay and explore the entire place. It's one of those locations that somehow by looking at it, you can feel the history behind it right in front of your eyes and how everything met a unfortunate fate. A city remnant of the past and a civilatization that long ceased to exist but still the voices echoes around the ruins. A place that it were to exist in real life i would totally love to explore.
Probably one of the best tracks in FF7 due to the tone it sets at the moment. It gets eerie that no random battles occur and you are left wondering at what's about to happen. Excellent job Nugern!
Letting Aerith disappear near the end was an awesome touch. Btw, ever considered making like a big music compilation video? e.g relaxing final fantasy music, these things do well and I personally listen to these type of videos a lot while working.
@@Nugem Yeah so, you can go two ways; either keep like FF7 together lets say cries of the planet, reunion and then to a next final fantasy (e.g ff2 main theme, thus making the transitions based on game). Or = the best but harder you can just ''randomize'' and do it per tone, so in this case cries of the planet and reunion are ''sad'' song so they should be next to other sad songs that can transition into let say an upbeat main theme of FF2. As long as there is no battle song, or happy joy joy song in a relaxing video your fine. Oh yeah, because you cover a lot of RPG's you can also make relaxing jrpg song, or battle jrpg song, sad, whatever floats your boat :P. If it is a bit tough to do, just search an existing video and copy it haha. Hope it helps.
The memory of this theme getting remixed in FF7R at the end of the game and Sephiroth saying: '7 seconds till the end, time enough for you perhaps, but what will you do, Cloud?' Just makes me so excited on what will be on Cloud's mind during Rebirth and how will he prepare himself to give his all in a chance to change Aerith's outcome.
Funny that FFVII in its earliest stages started out as a SNES title iirc. But in the early period, I don't think any of the concept unique to FFVII was even formed yet aside from the protagonist seeking down someone else or whatever. Anywho, nice mix. :)
Everytime I see these screenshots and music it makes me wonder if this could have actually came out on SNES ,I'm glad it didn't come out on N64 don't think it would have had the same impact
probably joking..but remake already exist...unless you meant remake No 7: real life scale with an hologram of Cloud covering your body.....then you get to play in first person with robots that have the look of all the main characters + some robots with enemies shape that attack you XD....that remake wont happen b4 year 2563....i dont think you can live for a few hundred years :S....well i'am out....i be going back to roam the wallmarket to chill there
How I love this track; it's not that different from the original, if anything it lacks the echo that most snes soundtracks have... unless you already have it and don't notice it.
Just wow. Never thought about back-porting FF7 music to SNES, but hearing this it feels like a missing link or puzzle piece. I'm assuming the samples are reconverted from PSX BRR into SNES BRR format and it's quite remarkable you could fit this many into ~32KB!
Aerith is here. ...and so is Sephiroth. Barret Wh, what! Sephiroth!? Tifa You're saying it's not just Aerith, but Sephiroth, too? Just passed that part on my phone bc i felt the need to replay FF7. The place where shit goes/went crazy.
perhaps due to the psx being a snes follow up console at first. it's sound chip might have been intended as an upgraded snes chip. which begs the question; is that why the psx music is as good as snes music? is that a specific style of audio chip that is just really pleasant on the ears?
Yeah. The PS1 SPU is pretty much a buffed version of the SNES SPC. But many PS1 games would end up using CD tracks and later, .MP3-like compressed tracks.
Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the notes were ripped directly from the original music file. Maybe it sounds a bit different because of the reverb effects? Thanks for the feedback, anyway ~ I'm very interested in musical knowledge like that.
@@Nugem Check it at 1:16 with the G major chord change. The notes for the synth remain the same for the entire song and never deviate... except the B flat switches to the natural just for the duration that one chord. Very powerful moment, my favorite part of the track, which is why I noticed. Unfortunately doesn't happen in this version. Doesn't ruin the work as a whole, but just wanted to point it out since it's technically incorrect.
I’m not hearing what you are hearing. I’ve listened to this back to back with the original about 4 times now and it sounds 1:1. Are you talking about the harp? Or the original melody of the synth that the song starts with?
video: ask me to listen to the cries of the planet......me: hear the cries of Aeris being downgraded to the form of a sprite....well done though XD...jk i'am sure she like her new sprite form
