Using save/exit feature included in the remastered version, I was able to manipulate the RNG to get the same result every time.
Using this I was able to farm 100 power generators in about an hour.

Thank you for this! I wasn't able to get one using your method and I was kinda getting frustrated. I then used the power and speed boost feature. Mugged blitz but couldn't steel. Blitz casts thundaga on himself while I press mug. Mantis use melting bubbles and mugged blitz again. This time I managed to get a power generator. I repeated the process and the same enemies appear with the same attack pattern and I always mug a power generator.

Not sure if you'll even get this since it's so many months later. I tried doing what you did in the video and it never worked for me at all. I was able to get those two enemies to appear together every time, but that was it. I even used a save editor to copy over the levels and HP amounts of those three characters and I still couldn't get the same battle you had. I'm not sure if junctions affect the RNG or what, but I'm missing something entirely because I can't get this to work for the life of me. Also, I saw your thread on gamefaqs, it's a shame no one bothered to reply to it because this could have been a real game changer right here. Makes me wish the old crowd was still around, they would have taken you up on this and found all sorts of new farming opportunities, I'm sure.

Thanks for your comment. I won’t be able to test for awhile with higher level due to real life responsibilities. When I found this method I experimented with different characters and also different GF equipped but still get the same result. But one thing I noticed is the character who is getting hit from a melting bubble need to block status change (silenced I believe). If not you’ll get the different result.

Odin's Quest alters the RNG, it is still possible to have 100 percent Power Generator with a slightly different strategy.

So I just got one just by mugging Blitz and none rare item ability equip doesn’t have to be with the spider looking monster…blitz pop up alone for me all the time and I mugged it and got one power generator

Also having difficulty replicating this, only consistent thing I can seem to see is the enemies appearing. After that they follow a different pattern than the one shown. Is there more setup involved? Like, do I need to grind the first Power Generator before the pattern repeats? Once the pattern does start, do I need to Card both enemies before saving?

Saw your comment and did a bit of testing. Here are the results… I did this on disc 3, tested it again on disc 4, can produced the same results no problem… I switched around their GF as well as their abilities and junctions, again I can produced the same results.. The characters you used doesn’t matter also. You also don’t need to card them either I just don’t want them to level up at the time of farming this. While testing today my characters level up several times with the same results so the Lvl doesn’t seems to effect the RNG either. I tried mugging without status attack berserk, without junctions Thundaga to elemental attack, or killing him outright I always get the generators. What matters seems to be the mugger need to be on the top row. As soon as I switched this the RNG seems to switch and the enemies attack becomes different until I switched it back. Also after you finished your setup be sure to save and ext the game. Upon loading don’t go into the menu. Hope this helps…

@@jakmagnus I was not expecting you to respond so quickly and so thoroughly! I tried everything you said to here and I'm still getting a different attack pattern, the only consistent thing appears to be when I soft reset it IS always the same two enemies in that spot. I'd be happy to send you a copy of my Steam save file if you want to take a look and experiment?

@@davidleblanc32 I’m on PlayStation and no way for me to check your save unfortunately. Not quite sure they used the same RNG value across different platforms as well. Regarding RNG changed on mugger with initiative on different row, it’s probably similar to how manual search with Angelo search works. Skipping turn to different characters will advance certain RNG value thus why when the other characters with initiative is set on 1st row the pattern becomes different. Probably the other factors are involved as well but for now that’s all I was able to figure it out.

Have you verified if your inventory, or more specifically if your inventory order affects the RNG? I can't imagine the RNG working different between the different ports since the D-District Prison RNG works the same to get the Rosetta Stones early. Do you have a PC? If you do and can get Steam, I'd be happy to gift you a copy of FFVIII Remaster for your help!@@jakmagnus

@@davidleblanc32 I used the auto sort option for items the game provided. I did try rearranging some items in different order but that doesn’t seem to change the RNG though. Since enemies have different attacks available depend on their level range, if you do this at very low level they might not have all attacks available and will attack differently for sure. That’s another possibilities I could think of. Even if you couldn’t generate the same RNG as mine as long as enemies attack the same way every battle you could find your own pattern and repeat the same way to get large quantities of generators. That’s how I was able to find this method in the first place. My pc is purely used for work related and too weak to play any kind of games. Different port of FF games definitely used different RNG generator though. Those 1 in 10000 chance of spawning invisible items in FFXII TZA can be gotten rather easily by manipulating RNG in certain way for PS4 port. But they couldn’t gotten in the same way on steam version because the game reset the RNG value every time the game is load.

Sorry about late reply. I don’t have Odin in this stage of the game. Since I don’t like him appearing and killing things I wanna farm. You could try let him finish one battle first. Then save and reload to try again.
