I love the fact that the default team for this battle is Tidus-Yuna-Auron, no matter what. As if the game is telling us: "these 3 are the people emotionally involved in this fight".
Jecht: You're late. Tidus: Sorry, I was chocobo racing. Jecht: What?! Auron: Monster Arena took up most of my time. Jecht: Not you too Auron... Yuna: I had to get all my extra summons. Wakka: I became a blitzball champion! Lulu: I had to dodge lightning. Rikku: I played "red light green light" with cactuars! Jecht: ...and you, big guy? Kimahri: .....butterflies.
I really liked how the trigger command for Tidus would drop Jecht's Overdrive gauge in this battle. It was a neat little addition to in-battle dialogue.
I know Jecht wanted to tell him I love you, but the fight would have been much harder on Tidus if he did. Then Tidus may not have had the resolve to kill him. "To love your child so much that you wont tell them you love them, because it could mean their death," is so powerful to me."
This must have been heartbreaking for Jecht - yes he was an ass when he was in Zanarkand but he went on a journey through Spira that made him love and appreciate the life he had, he even realised just how much he loved his son and how much he wanted to see him again... and when he finally sees him again his son tells him he hates him... that must've been soul crushing for him.
Tidus doesnt really hate him. He knew what jecht did and what jecht learned. Neither of them could say I love you in the end since tidus had to kill him =/.
It was actually his mother who deserved all the hate. She never had time for Tidus when Jecht was around. And when he was gone, she finally abandoned her son and left him for good.
He always knew how much he loved his son, he just didn't know how to express it. Auron plainly says so during the game and the spheres Jecht left here and there for Tidus to find are further proof of this.
First time i struggled to beat him... Second file I had at least gotten Anima and actually used Yuna. My main ps3 files ive done at least 3dark aeons soooo... On that file, its a bloody curb stomp xD

wow, you definantly did all you could to make this into a cinematic battle! not abusing any overpowered skills. you gave the boss a fair chance for sure!
When I played this on PS2 I leveled grinded my characters to the point even when obtaining the optional aeons I one shotted braskas final aeon in both his forms with velfors second overdrive 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was like that's easy not knowing I Uber leveled my characters I copied the saved over to another memory card and then played it again respectfully and was more of a challenge 🤣
The whole game was such a tear jerker. The story of this game is what I truly loved above all else about it. Not being godly and destroying all the arena challenges and beating sin in 1 shot no. The story made you feel for each and every individual character and understand their role in it all. Few games do this nowadays like this game. And to think I hated the game when it first came out because of the different system. I was such a fool in my youth.

I remember feeling underwhelmed by the time I got to the ending mostly because completing the arena turns your party into gods. I think there is a way to limit the damage you do to just 9999 however. That made the fight much more reasonable. But all this aside FFX is one of the best ones in the series. Lots of great memories!
Pierre Narvaez I always assumed this form of Jecht was just made inside sin and that the final summon would always take the form of Penance.. First because Jecht is Sin, second because you have to beat every dark aeon to unlock Penance, so I thought he was the dark version of the final summon, and third because Penance is the perfect name for the final summon, Sin is created to punish people for their sins, and Penance is created for someone to pay for those sins
I will never forget my first time fighting this guy.. I was a little kid it.. it was my first time playing a final fantasy game.. and when this guy came out and the metal music started playing .. I was like "holy shit it's on!!"
I loved that they didnt remastered the theme because if you remaster the theme I bet a lot of us would have been pissed. Best theme out of all the boss themes.
The most hilarious way to beat the final aeon is to get Wakka's celestial weapon and upgrade Wakka with max stats. Then enter the battle and immediately throw the blitzball at Jecht's face. 99999 damage. Jecht will scream out. "Aaahhhhhhh!". Jecht defeated by a beach ball!
Pretty much all of the aeons are the same. You can see parts of themselves in their summon tablet. The in game models for them are generic, but you can see it when you take a look at the summon chamber. An example is that the yojimbo fayth has the same sword while the Ixion fayth has a horn shaped like his staff.
I remember fighting Jecht on the PS2 version...I didn't have any over lvled characters, or any of the Omega Weapons...not even any of the extra aeons. This was a BITCH of a fight. ...but I was more prepared itemwise.
I finished this game yesterday and came here to see how I did compared to someone else. I'm here like... what are these aeons :D Took me maybe 7 to 8 tries to figure out best strategy which was to teach Yuna Osmose before fight (had a black magic sphere fortunately), spamming Holy with Yuna, Tidus keeping haste on everyone and then Auron / Wakka just staying alive and using pheonix downs on others :D Oh, and with Kimahri I used spare change and threw all my 500 000 gils at Jecht :D

Same. First time I finished this game I killed Yu Yevon with a git damn phoenix down. I was in middle school and was up waaaaaay later than I needed to be on a school night and I hit a wall against Yu Yevon. Kept full healing himself, had no celestial weapons and was like "wtf do I do!?!" Randomly remembered Wakka had a zombie ball and swapped his weapon mid fight and was like "theres' no way yu yevon will get inflicted with zombie". Sure as shit it worked and I dropped Yu Yevon with a freaking phoenix down.
the ending of this game always gets to me because the first time i beat the a few years ago i cried my eyes out ending is so emotional and yes i Admit that it makes me cry to this day
So, looking at how Jecht looked as a Final Aeon, can you imagine how some of the other characters would look as Final Aeons, if Yuna had gone that path?

The best boss of ffx hands down the story behind it , his move set, the atmosphere the music and just the boss looks fucking badass overall i still get chills fighting this boss
When this came out I lived alone at 16 yes old with only a few bucks and my ps2 and one game. I chose to buy this game and wanted to say thank you square enix for letting me know that the world around never really mattered and I just worked on myself .
Note to newer players (that havent got celestial weapons) looking for advice - Jecht isn't immune to zombie. every time the pagodas go to heal him its free damage (one of them removes stat effects, so at worst it breaks even) Also if Bahamut is the strongest Aeon you have, save his limit for near the end and slap the last 10-14,000 or so out of the park, and keep the others for damage sponges.
I know 7 and 8 and other Final Fantasy titles are good but lets be honest. FFX was one of the last good games out of it. (Unless 15 is as good as i'm hoping it will be.) For me personally it was the one that actually got me more into this type of stuff. I played it. I beat it and it was amazing.

randomyoshie the pacing is ass, the story is kinda stupid, seriously once chapter 10 or 11 hits it's like they said "Oh fuck." and suddenly spammmed the game with summon bosses.
I think Jecht in his Aeon form shouldv'e talked during battle to try break Tidus and the party down. Would've added much more personality and probably challenge, especially with the "Talk" option.
To defeat bosses of the game without leveling up is SKILL. It's obviously harder without upgrades and if you can thrash a boss without the upgrades.....SKILL and this is what I did my characters stats were still pretty low and I clocked this game like it was nothing it's not about how much of the grid is maxed out its about how you perform and use each character. Learn their strengths and weaknesses and you will WIN
I absolutely agree. JRPGs are heavily story-focused, and that was always the part I enjoyed more, but any time I play a JRPG I do my best NOT to grind, to make it more challenging.
I went half of my game playing without knowing how to use the stupid grid it was hell. One of my friends told me how to do it after a while, luckily. Im at the calm lands and my characters aren't even half way finished with the grid and it feels like they're still so weak even though they are stronger then they were.
Unlike some, I actually don't think that Tidus has a bad voice actor, I just think that his voice actor should have redone some of his lines, and probably should have been given more advice on what to do, and he's not the only one. The "I hate you" moments in this scene are actually good, and some of his more powerful moments (albeit the first one sounding kind of rushed, but maybe that was the point). Ultimately, I think most of the problems with the voice acting lies on the voice actors/actresses not reading the atmosphere of the scene correctly, or even being told what the atmosphere was, in my opinion. I am also convinced they recorded their lines separately.
MJN SEIFER you have to know that all the voice actors recorded their lines WITHOUT having the cutscenes before their eyes, hence why they aren't perfect
Just watch a few .Hack GU videos and you'll change your mind. That voice acting was marvelously done. Even the original .Hack games had good voice acting in it. Being PS2 era is no excuse. The .Hack series did A LOT better.

only FF game that made me cry alot. this game, was the first time EVER, i knew what a insane quality game was! me and my friend was totally in shoch, once we bought this game... a game which both surpassed games and movies!
I remember my first time fighting this guy. Was real nervous, so I may have overtrained in the Omega Ruins. Beat him in 1 shot. 2 for the second stage just because his health is above max damage.
if you unlocked the legendary weapons, they allow you to do over 9999 damage, Yuna has the best magic stat by the end of the game and fucking wrecks everything with Holy
Here’s a final boss that’s just brimming with pure power and strength. I remember struggling with BFA the first play through, both him and Seymour Flux. Boy did it feel good when I finally figured out a pattern to beat him though!
I'm all for the metal music here, as this game was definitely a step in a new direction - albeit a linear step in a different direction. So, it suited this fight. Plus, Jecht would want it to be loud and full of angst over being forced to kill countless thousands for a malicious deity.
The only Aeons I never unlocked were Anima and the Magus sisters. The Magus sisters have an awesome finishing move! Probably the 2nd coolest if not the coolest one.
If you want to feel the same sheer epicness of the music kicking in after the cutscene etc. then play the new Eden raid in FF14. Really reminded me of this. You know serious shit is going down when that music kicks in.
ugh, why are their faces so lifeless in the HD remake? I remember their faces having more emotion than that. Completely ruins the sadness of the moment
The fucked something up though with the faces in the HD version. Like the best example is when Yuna is doing her monologue before the Yunalesca fight, her face used to make all sorts of expressions, but in the remaster it's just one boring lifeless HD face
Nothing changed. Their faces never did show much expression. The remastered version only made it possible to play on newer consoles. The updated graphics almost nothing.
