The laugh scene was made to be akward because it wasn’t a “real” laugh in the context of the scene and what was happening. But most of the pople took it the wrong way.
I don't think anyone who played it took it the wrong way, just lightheartedly joking about it. Those that mock it as bad voice acting or anything else negative I assume haven't played the game
James Taylor is such a talented dude. I remember that back in the day when FFX was just released he had a voice sample on his site that had him doing something like 40 voices of famous characters in one minute. It was insane
@@Leondragon06 Awesome! Hope you had a great time. I've been in contact with another Final Fantasy actor who's interested in attending Comic Cons in the UK. Hopefully that person will be able to attend in 2020
@@lucinae8512 I was there too. She was absolutely incredible. We even did a video together. I should warn you, my Mr. Crocker impression is awful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tZtCV66-NoI.html
Hands down still the best Final fantasy. They put everything into it. Great actors, super powerful soundtrack, ambitious story dealing with themes of religion, honor and finding your place. The other games are great too but something about this cast is just legendary...Great vid!
Agree. I always judge other FFs to FFX in terms of a full package Final Fantasy game experience. Call me a hopeless romantic, but the romance in FFX was my favorite part of the story. Many other FFs just lacked in the romance department. I would consider FFXII up there with FFX but it was devoid of romance so it just doesn't compare. I still have the FFXIII trilogy and FFXV to try out to see where they stand to FFX but I am not too optimistic.
I actually met James Arnold Taylor during NY ComicCon of this year and he is the absolute nicest person. What I loved about my interaction with him is that during the event, I was cosplaying as Tidus and he had this feeling that he knew I was such a huge fan of the character since I was trying my best not to cry and had my PS4 copy of the game, that he gave me a hug and we chat for a few minutes about the game and record a video where he did a few quotes and both of us doing the Tidus laugh. He was so amazing to the point where he posted a picture of the two of us on his Instagram page and I was such in joy. It’s amazing how at 50 years, he still has the ability to voice a 17 year old protagonist and as someone who is called by others as the biggest “mark” for the character and both games, he is truly one of the best people you can meet and can give you advice about life.
Thank you for this video! I am a huge FFX fan, but I never knew Wakka and Kimahri had the same voice actor! And I didn't recognize him at all in Disenchantment!! John DiMaggio... What a talent! I forgot to mention, that in my opinion (and those of my friends who also played FFX), Seymour's voice always seemed out of place in comparison to the others. But yeah, tastes differ.
I liked the video alot. I personally would’ve wanted to hear the actors voices more to drive home the points you were making about how talented they were or how big of a range they have. Thanks for taking your time to read this. Have a nice day.
Thank you once more for dedicating your time and efforts to release great videos that not only entertain us but educate us on our favorite game Franchise! You guys are the best!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💕💕💕💕😊
The voice cast are all legends, and knowing the impact they had with nearly 20 years of hindsight (I now feel very old....), screams volumes. James and John are easily among my favorite voice actors, and I can't wait to hear James reprise his role as Obi-Wan once more.
No mention of Drawn Together? Both James Arnold Taylor and Tara Strong (as well as Cree Summer who voiced multiple characters in X and X-2) starred in the series.
My only nitpicking is that you could have mentioned that Hedy also reprised her role as Yuna whenever the character appeared in something. X-2, Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia, World of FF.
Tom Kenny also apparently did the voice of Starscream in 2008's Transformers Animated. I didn't know that Tara Strong & Gregg Berger were among the voice cast for the US version of FFX1! 😳😳😳
Matt McKenzie and John DiMaggio are the two VAs from FFX I love the most! Auron was my favorite character from the game... And when I played Kingdom Hearts 2 for the first time and I seen Auron... I squeed so fucking hard when I heard McKenzie reprised his role!! Wakka MAY just be my favorite character John DiMaggio voiced, right next to Bender. He has recently voiced Heidegger in FF7 remake! His range in performances never cease to amaze me!
I love all the minor characters Tom Kenny played in FFX. I think my favorite one was Bobba, one of the commentators at the Luca Blitzball tournament. He sounded exactly like the narrator from the original PPG(who Kenny also voiced)
Please cover FFXV voice actors. When it comes to actors that cross the barrier between voiceover and screen roles, Adam Croasdell is quite the versatile talent and deserves more recognition.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Quinton Flynn, the voice actor of Raidan from the Metal Gear Solid series. In FFX, he voices Isaaru (summoner you fight when escaping prison) and Bickson (main Blitzball bad guy). I recognized Quinton's voice immediately when I played FFX for the second time after almost 20 years.
Jhil nabaat? Woah its kind of a slap to the face finding same voice actors at different places. Same when i found out caius ballad is the voice of yasuo from LoL
I actually have a Subscription on James Arnold Taylor. I even Commented on some of his and Replied back. 1:32- Well it was due to the limitations of the Playstation 2 Hardware. 3:15- Really? Silvester Stallone? John Di Maggio didn't put much effort when doing the voice of Kimahri. One of my younger brothers actually met Tom Kenny and has asked him how he makes the Sponge Bob laugh. I didn't know he was Heffer from Rocko. I just watched that Rocko Special from last year.
I completely forgot James Arnold Taylor was Tidus as I have been rewatching Star Wars the Clone Wars and love Taylor’s performance as Obi Wan and I love his voice of Tidus
I would love a video like this for FFXIV, the actors in it from the first expansion on feel so much different from the more anime influenced style of voice acting that we get in the US and with the base 2.0 game where they used American voice actors. I just want their great performances to be appreciated.
I'm glad that they went with unknown talent instead of bug stars. I love Spirits Within and revisit it constantly, but some of the voices take me out because they are immediately recognizable.
FFX Is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, and was the first time ever playing a final fantasy game. having missed out on VII, VIII, And IX. As a kid. I had a hard time getting past some of the parts. I didn't know how to grind and use the sphere grid correctly. Now that I am grown up. It's one of my favorite games of all time, but is also one of my favorite Final Fantasy Games. As an introduction to the series. it's the perfect introduction. Tara Strong is one of the actresses I recognized during the game having grown up with the Batman Animated Series. First time I heard Rikku go "YAHOO!" I was like "IS THAT HARLEY QUINN!?!" and also as a kid... I could not stop staring at Lulus uuuh.. Chest.... I was like 12 when this game came out 11 or 12 one of the two. And was just starting to mature.. BUT EVERYTIME! ... Now that I am 29... and replaying through the game.. I am noticing her uuh outfit looks like it's ready to just slide off. She is probably one of the more attractive characters in the series. Up there with Tifa, Aerith, Garnet, and Rinoa. I am currently playing through the series again. Starting with X. Then deciding if I wanna go to IX, VIII, or play one that I've already played such as VII. All I know is. I have a lot of good memories with Final Fantasy X. Maybe someday we will get X-3. But part of me hopes it doesn't happen.
I knew OF Tara Strong, mostly from playing Harley Quinn (& a few others). But I was surprised at how MANY characters I was familiar with that I didn't ever know SHE was the one who voiced them! Wow.
I would love to know who does the voices of the Aeons a lot of these voices are very familiar the voice of Yojimbo really stood out and I can't put my finger on it of who it is
People give the voice acting in this game a lot of flack, but I think the tone of their voices and the overall emotions were there. Dubbing was a relatively new endeavor for SE at the time and I think most of the issues came from post production where it seemed like they sped up the delivery of certain lines or kind of stopped the voices abruptly, but overall it’s not HORRIBLE, they’ve just improved the craft of dubbing overtime.
my favorite character is definitely auron personality wise the thing is i don't use him alot during late game i use tidus wakka and rikku sometimes yuna for summoning
Nadia the Secret of Blue Water had a huge impact on my life.. from pretty early on... I watched it in English some time ago which is far superior to the German version although that was already good... Now I really need to watch it again.. and afterwards Evangelion... ....and now I am sad...
Yup that's how it is officially pronounced, it was not uttered in the game since it was customisable. so people called him "Tigh-Dus for some weird reason. I remember watching this PV of FFX (beta) and the Japanese pronounced his name as "Teedus" until it was finally uttered in Dissidia by Yuna as Teedus so yeah always go with the Japanese saying. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DNU9f9EFrVk.html Fun Fact: Tidus is Tida in Okinawan (sun) that's why you collect sun crest and sigil for Tidus' ultimate weapon.
@@otakuthegreat The original trailer for the west outright has the narrator say "Tee-dus" too. KH1 would also have Wakka say it correctly. KH2 messed up, though, which isn't too surprising, since the localization of 2 was a tad wonky in general.
@@keithvittorini3415 That's not how english works, it's a made up name. LOL (i used to say it like that for a bit till i heard the official pronunciation)
@@otakuthegreat sure laugh it up, idc. with that logic i should be able to pronounce it however i want. There's no 'e' in the name so that's what i think.
