There are few key problems with this. 1.) This is intended for new players just starting the game, and ARR is already known for being somewhat of a slog to go through. Something which is only made worse if new players are trying to do every or even most side quests. 2.) Most other mmo teach players they need to do every side quest for leveling. This just isn't true in ffxiv and can actually hurt your experience as it will slow your msq progression and thus causing you to go longer without very useful features like mounts, flying, or unlocking jobs. 3.) Most players even if told the side quest have some good stories are still going to see them as busy work, and thus not really care about the narrative that is being told. The problem is that as a new player you don't have that connection that makes you care about the small details. This can be further hampered by how something is presented. The fact is most of the time when people do side quest they are going to grab them in bulk and turn them in at the same time making them less likely to give said quests special attention it's why contained questline like omega & alpha's adventure is more likely to engage the player than just a random quest. I'm not saying that side quest have no value period, but as a new player they are kinda pointless because you should be focusing on the msq and if you want to level other jobs basically everything else is better.

As a general rule I'll always recommend starting with the free trial. Especially right now because if you wanted to buy the game I would at bare minimum wait until the Dawntrail pre-order(gives nice items like an exp boosting earring), but that besides you do have to playthrough the msq and the free trail lets you playthrough over half of it which is a month or more of gameplay for free.

I'm currently playing on free trial and have been playing for about 3 months. Cons: No market board, no housing, no friends list, no free company access. Pros: You can play 99% of the game for free, especially if you try out multiple jobs and crafting. It really is the best free trial out there IMHO.

So I don't know for sure as I am a keyboard and mouse player. That being said from what I was able to find out your best option is to change the camera auto adjust which is found at the bottom of the page where you choose standard or legacy.

@@TheNastyNamazu i dont see that option. console has less options than pc which makes sense but not beeing able to turn off auto adjust is some bs

Not really but I get what you were thinking. The thing is all the data centers/servers are in the same place(California I believe) That being said players do have a habit of self-sorting themselves which is why many of the server/data center are known for specific communities Like for example Primal isn't a Spanish data center, but I believe many Spanish speaking players gravitate towards it thus creating a larger Spanish speaking community

No, data center travel is region based. Meaning if you play in NA you can play with any other NA player, and if you play in EU you can play with any other EU player, but you can't go from NA to EU. If you wanted to play with someone from another region you would have to make a separate character on that regions data centers. Also to your first point, the problem at least for me is that as an NA player I can only speak to the NA side of the game because it's what I'm familiar with. So for example in the video I said if you're starting in NA then you should likely go to aether since its the most active data center in NA which I know because I play in the region. Now I don't have that level of knowledge when it comes to EU or JP, and so I wouldn't personally feel comfortable recommend anything to do with those regions.

you only Need One. one character can do ALL jobs. there is zero need for other characters.

@@mgaming7 Yes, zero NEED. But what about WANT? Some people actually LIKE making new characters. I've got 8 and it's not enough slots for what I'd like to make! lol

I mean my main character is a Male Hyur(human) so yeah. It really just depend on the player. Some people like make themselves, some people like making an OC, and some people like a making character that reflect what they're into.

That's true of pretty much all MMOs in my experience, and I've been playing them since EQ1.
