I love this scene. Noctis is ignorant that he will never see his father again. My grandpa sent me off like this before starting college, and I never saw him again. Be nice to relatives who truly love you.
That's life. No one goes off someplace expecting to never see their loved one again. I feel Noctis cares for his dad, but he's your typical teenager who's ready to leave the nest and go out on an adventure with friends.
I remember my brother hugging me before his suicide. I remember hugging him back saying "I want to let you know that I really do care about you, even if I don't express it.". Then a few weeks later my parents told me he died by suicide. You don't know how much you'll miss someone until they are gone. Appreciate what you have now.
@@Ajay-dy3xw it has been a very interesting experience rebuilding my mind. Not 100% there. Turns out rebuilding yourself isn't easy and not painless. The lingering PTSD is driving me down and people see that. I have a few friends that help me to keep going whenever I want to "just fade away". I've done what I can by myself, but I also acknowledge that I'll need to seek therapy to full stop reliving the event every day.
Regis doesn't want to let him go oh my god. He keeps stepping forward for "one more thing" because he knows what's about to happen. This is one of the saddest scenes in the game in retrospect, ffs ;A;
Regis knew what was going to happen. I think in this moment Regis regrets the time he didn't spend with Noctis and the burden he would have to carry. The game is so damn sad.
So sad how Reigis kept calling him back to say his final goodbyes as a father... I know Noctis felt horrible for acting the way he did before he left. Not knowing his fathers fate after
BBL81 that's how I felt when my grandfather died...I acted like an ungrateful brat the last time I saw him alive. I've often wished I could go back and changed the way I conducted myself around him before he died...
I don't think Noctis meant it to be rude. I think he was so used to seeing his father as the King he never considered what it was like to just be his son. Usually in royalty having "normal" family time becomes an after thought. You only see each other as the titles you assume. But this scene shows that Regis truly did love his son. If anything, Regis knew the burden Noctis would one day carry. I think Regis only wanted to be with his son one last time.
He didn't mouth off to him. That was just Noctis eager to get on his way. He thought it was just gonna be a trip there and back. To Noctis it was just another day. He never knew what was to come.
Noctis was young, he was not yet suitable for such responsibility. But of course Regis knew what he had to do and that's also why he asked the trios (Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis) to be with him and guide him on the way.
2:18 This exact moment, knowing that this may be the last time he ever gets to see his son... This scene right here is what makes this entire game a very incredible and emotional game. I have never been so attached to characters in a video game. This game definitely owns a spot on my top 10 list of favorite games.
I love how much Regis loves his son. You can tell by their talk that Noctis is use to his father being overprotective. It's so sad that this the the last talk he had with him. And that Regis knew but Noctis did not. I wish we had more scenes with them both. Also that Regis said "You have no cause for concern" knowing that he was about to die is just 😟
I love this element of the story too. It's kind of rare in Final Fantasys to see loving relationships between fathers and sons, which makes me really love Regis, and is probably why I've been delaying watching Kingsglaive, because I really don't want to see him die.
"Walk tall, my son." When I first saw this, I was like... okay sure. After finishing the game and watching this again... I hear "Walk tall, my son" and it gives me the chills.
Noctis lost his father, his bride and childhood friend, he had to kill his only relative and he also had to die for his kingdom. Never going to play a tragic game like this ever again. Last FF game for me.
I like the story. Bit I do wish they had a alternative ending added to the main story. Luckily we have two alternatives endings; one from Eipsode Ignis, and the other from the novel which I have yet to read.
1:32 What bothers me most about this scene is that Noctis trusted Drautos to take care of his father, and it turns out that instead, he betrays and kills him.
This scene hits so different when you know it is the last conversation that Noctis ever has with his dad. His dad is trying to say everything he wants to tell him before he dies and Noctis is just trying to get the conversation over with and get on the road. Shit got me crying bruh.
I love how many people only start to appreciate and feel the emotions for this scene only after they know this is regis last words to his son. Goes to show how people only appreciate things only after they lose it
I've played the game all the way through, and the so very casual way they interact with one another makes me smile every time. noctis talks to his father so casually, and it makes every character so relatable. this is my favorite scene in the game because of the teen-ish way Noct speaks with his father
I have played every Final Fantasy game. This one is my favorite one, I got the most feeling for every character most from all games. This is real family and bromance what you can imagine. Beautiful overworld and soundtrack. And I live this real time fight system way more than the round based one from older titles
I agree, Yusuke : ) I'm replaying it again right now after 4 years and it's amazing! just watched kingsglaive and the brotherhood anime too. AMAZING GAME!
This story is amazing it's just told weirdly but the emotion is unreal. You form a Bond with the characters like no other or mabye it's just me but I actually enjoyed these characters and was scared if any of them died
I think in retrospect the most heartbreaking thing about this game was the relationship between regis and noct. He had to sacrifice his people knowing that noct will eventually have to die too.
noctis so naive , and his dad knew exactly what was gonna go down but kept noctis out of it in order to save him . shame that regis was not the one to slay ardyn but at least his direct descendant got to end the age long conflict
for years people have been telling me i have to play these games. This was the first one i played. It was amazing! One of my favourite games to date. But i dont know if i can play another one knowing how beautifully heart-breaking they are.
Hahah, just you wait for the next Final Fantasy :D It breaks me every single time every single game so, maybe FF16 will break you too in the future! Also, FF15 is technically my first FF games (That got me into FF and I finished the lore), and I think you might will also like FF7 too XD Wanna check it out?
Frack. I came back to watch this after the campfire scene and this is tearing me up inside. Though I suppose Noctis didn't think this would be the last time he'd see his father. I mean, I wouldn't either if I was leaving on some excursion, and was bidding my father goodbye. T___T
I notice a shocking amount of Latin in this final fantasy game like the word noctis is Latin for night and the word caelum means sky or heaven and for the word regis it means king
I always tried to diss Noctis and always preferred the original Noctis but after so many years I realized that Noctis was just young kid who was afraid of his destiny but still fulfilled it in the end.
Honestly, I wish I could call it a masterpiece, especially with that legendary ending (in the Royal Edition). Unfortunately, it had some flaws... It's still amazing in my opinion, but it could've been even better.
@@yannispirou101 I'd say the Royal Edition's ending is one of it's flaws. It's a disservice to the "true ending", which is the greatest flaw of all: Dawn of the Future should have been FFXV-2, or more movies, or _something_ . That said, Dawn of the Future still exists, and since FFXV is/was already a multimedia story anyway (something only a franchise as substantial as Final Fantasy can pull off), even before the cancellation of the other episodes, I'd say FFXV is a masterpiece.
Such a good scene. THOUGH I wish they played the awesome theme for a second after Regis tells Noctis to walk tall. Its building up to the awesome part of the song and then just ends like a trailer.
Kingsglaive really is essential to playing Final Fantasy XV. This scene is really hitting me after watching the movie first. Gonna give this game another try once I wrap up FFXVI
I'm so glad the last moments I had with my mother weren't like this. She died suddenly in a car accident, and I am so GLAD I don't have any regretful last words.
Damn, with all the pieces put together at the end of the game 1:50 is so tragic. Regis knew of the storm brewing didn't want Noctis to get caught in the thick of it, he NEEDED Noctis to be ready to abandon his homeland for the greater good and fulfil the prophesy of The Chosen King, no matter the cost.
