"It's who we are. We fight, we survive, we endure. We don't need a reason. We are imperfect creatures. When we stumble, we reach for a shoulder to lean on. When we fall, we stand back up. We see the horizon, ever out of reach and still we march on... certain that the answers lie just beyond it. Because that is our way." - Clive Rosfield, Year of the Realm 878
My congratulations. Relish this victory, knowing you have but delayed the inevitable-- Your world is already dead. May you enjoy an eternity... on its blackened husk.
As soon as this song started playing literal tears started falling out. Never have I ever heard such a more beautiful version of the prelude before. This takes number one spot while Prelude Discoveries takes 2nd now for me.
The first time I heard this in-game; tears, calm, peace. To say this version is hauntingly beautiful, is a gross understatement. By far one of the best, if not the best Preludes in a long time.
Haunting is a good way to put it. Soken actually changed how the song works for this iteration of the series because he wanted it to have a touch of a foreboding quality this time.
I feel like when this song plays in the game, the shift in the story´s tone and pace starts to change. It makes you feel that there is more to this story, that there is more to discover in this fantasy. In Final Fantasy 16.
Tihis is definitely one of the better ones, but personally I think my favourite is the "world of wonder" version from FF15. Don't think that one ever made it into the game and was ever only in the trailers though.
@@iryu7288 Listened to it, and yeah that one is great as well. Another I really like is the one we got from when FFXIV got an event with Neir resulting in “weight of the world - prelude version”
Thank You! I was looking for this soundtrack since I beat the game. "In the light of the Mothercrystal" playing with gorgeous cutscene was a match made in heaven
A song worthy of requesting to be played on my deathbed and/or funeral (If I ever write a will I'll definitely make sure to do so). Can't imagine a more peaceful way to go... 🥲
I was actually reading a thing on this song that mentioned that Soken actually broke many of the past musical rules for FF16 that had been put in place by past FF games. With this one, it was the fact that Prelude is usually played with a joyful, uplifting tilt to it, the Light of the Mother Crystal inspiring hope. But for this version of Prelude, he actually wanted the song to have a kind of ominous, almost unsettling element to it not found in past games.
Dude what are u talking about cid, u mean Joshua and Jill and torgal, cid was only in the beginning of the game and in the tutorial, don't get me wrong he is a great character but not as good as the rest
@@john_7000 This first plays literally when Cid breaks the first mothercrystal. Cid Clive Jill and Torgal were there. Joshua still wasn’t even there with Clive and gang.
It is heavily implied that Clive and/or Joshua survived the battle on Origin and wrote their account of the events of the story, into a novel titled Final Fantasy. It's like how "Lord Of The Rings" was written by Frodo.
