Shito ryu. (In it's Inoue Ha version). There are five versions of this kata. Three of the Shito ryu style, and two of the Goju ryu style. All of them really formidable! (The differences are minimal).
Lol its not shito ryu kata... its a kata from naha te. Goju and shito ryu have it. By the way, its not a difficult kata to learn, but a difficult one to do with constant kime.
I don't like this fashion to clap everything... The audience don't understand what they're watching, so they don't know how they must react... and then they decide to clap every fast moving, every "kiai"... I miss those times when the only clap was at the end of the performance.
Comes from Naha-te, used to be practiced in Shuri-te but was dropped in all the spin offs (Shorin Ryu, Shotokan etc.) Shito-ryu kept it as they wanted all the Kata from Shotokan through goju. Not sure if Kyokushin uses it. Ive seen a number of Shotokan guys use in tournament, but its not part of the traditional Shotokan 26
@@buckybarnes5146 . You don know nothing about karate do! This kata wasn't dropped from the Shorin ryu and the Shoto Kan. Simply there they haven't it.
It waters down the bunkai, but creates better do, so it's kind of a wash. Funakoshi would probably like it, he moved away from the combat side of karate over the years and wanted to focus on sharper technique. It was Kumite he had an issue with. Oyama would say it was a waste of time, takes too much time away from kumite. Granted the man had nice kata, but many of his students have sloppy kata as a result of his view.
