Essentially the 10" Solo has the SD of a normal 12" woofer. I know your bighting your tongue for the sake of 8" woofers, but deep down you know "Cone is King".
Not really. The listed SD of the L7X is much closer to a standard 10" than a 12. The comp Q 10" has an area of 346 sq cm, the comp Q 12" has an area of 506 sq cm, and the L7X 10" has an area of 380 sq cm. Much less than a pair of 8s. However, a 10" can accommodate a LOT more power handling, excursion, and motorforce than an 8"
@@blakebrockhaus347 Silly me, I didn’t think it had to address the elephant in the room. The Xmax of the SOLO X 10” coupled with its Sd is essentially the same as an average 12” woofer. Since you made me go look up specs to state the obvious, here you go for comparison. As state before, essentially the same… Actually, a little better… 10” SOLO X - (Sd 380.25) x (Xmax 31.25mm) = 11,882.8 displacement 12” Comp Q - (Sd 506.71) x (Xmax 23.15mm) = 11,730.3 displacement (Better than Average 12”) 12” Comp Gold - (Sd 506.71) x (Xmax 17.5mm) = 8,867.4 displacement (Actually Average 12”)
@@JOSHUAALLEN28 all I said was that the cone area was closer to a typical 10. But that its greater excursion and motorforce is why it's louder than any 2 8s that MB has metered so far. We agree, idk why you're so hostile
@@JOSHUAALLEN28 well yeah, because you changed what you were saying to agree with me. You started out saying it had the SD of a 12, I said it didn't. Then you agreed with me
i have my solo x on a orion xtr 2500 and damn this amp is soooo underrated easily pulling 3000 watts at 12.8 volts look up the dyno orion is so good but back to the sub it sounds sooooo good compared to my sundown x10. the solo x hits every note so good especially when listen to on my level
I don't know about now, but the mid 90s, JL Audio was always the crowd pleaser. At the car shows, I would walk to the car that i could hear over all others. Most of the time it was JLs in the vehicle. Bass was clean and so rich!
they still are. I have alot of oldskool audio and alittle newer the 13w7s are indescribable but there a 20+year design all jl equipment is high asf... im making a blow thru and console for my superduty 4door (3) 13w7s for the blow thru and 3 12"w6s for my console firing down and I have 8w0 and 6w0 for my doors
I love it you really should just get 1 more and use 2 10" Kicker Solo L7X subwoofers in your stereo build. Everyone would love to see that. Invert them to make your subwoofer bigger.
They are definitely amazing subs!!! An interesting comparison would be between the solo x 10 and a Sundown Uv2 10. My only gripe is the price of the solo x. It’s went up $150 from its inception.
Just want to thank M.B.E. for putting me up on that Solo X 10. Kicker need to keep thanking YOU. EVERYTHING you said was true. Facts not Fiction. ALL TRUE. That Solo X is a Beast. Just got me one. Thank You for your knowledge and all you do for people like myself. Now I am hoping Kicker bring a Solo X 8. MBE & KICKER👍🏽🫡👍🏽🫡👍🏽
Kicker respects yr work. And they know what you do for they brand. Kicker gna build a SoloX 8 just so they can see what YOU can do with it.🤨 To prove to the industry what Kicker about.🔊🔊🔊🔊
They aren't denying they will make a solo 8.. but I'm not sure they have determined it's worth it.. if you look at this 10 you can tell they would have to totally tool everything to make an 8.. looking at the 10 from the coil to dustcap , motor , surrounding topography , etc can all be used or shared on 10 , 12 15 and even the 18 in.. but all new tooling will likely be needed for 8.. I guess we shall see.
The SoloX can compete with anything on the market today. And it will swamp alot of popular brands out there. I'm not saying it's the loudest, but it's up their with them. In my opinion it's worth every penny and it's awesome for an spl driver. We haven't even seen the 15 and 18 yet, but their coming.💯👍
It was always funny to me when ppl would shit on kicker. I have had 8 brands of subs and tbh Kicker was always at the top for me... but yeah, you have to let them breathe... putting a solo x in a 1.5 cube ported box with a small ass port and then calling it trash is crazy to me.
That sub needs over 2 cuft because of the cone area. In a 2.25 cuft or 2.5cuft box just how loud would 2 round 10s be? Say DC Audio XL 10s. Sundown X 10s or any other 10s in that same price range.
I'm really soooo curious about 8's. My last setup was two rs gold 10's in a 3.38 cu ft box at 34hz. What 8's would you recommend to get similar results?
Homie I’m new to the channel and I 💯% like your style and appreciate your knowledge. Quick question though, I’m currently doing a build of a single 12 in a Mercedes s550, what sub & box would you recommend? Thanks 🔊
Have you ever built for a 21"? I trusted someone to build an enclosure to house a dayton audio "kraken" to end up scammed after trying 3 months of my patience... from first glance I felt it was way to small but was told otherwise when i questioned him so i figured maybe he knows more than i do. Months later I start noticing flaws that were giving signs that he recycled an old box and replaced the top baffle with a 21" cut out... Fast forward i post the enclosure to an audio forum to be told immediately the box was INDEED to small and is around 4 cubic ft when recommended is 9 cubic for ported. So now i have trust issues because i want to make sure its done right the first time with hopes of playing as low as possible while maintaining some upper end also. I don't really care for much after 38hz
Ground zero Gzpw xxmax would walk all over the solo x . Theres quite a few subs that would . But the kicker solo X is it bad ass sub no doubt. But it cant hang with anything on the market
Dang king you look like a sad puppy right now. My feelings would be hurt if I had to take it out myself lol. If a child leaving a toy store kicking and screaming was a car audio video… Thanks for the joy of the #kicker #solox run. 🫡🫵🏾👑🙏🏾
