I have a Tovala. The price of $10-13 per meal isn't high for something you only have to unpack, do minimal prep, and put in the oven. The oven does a combination of steaming, baking, and broiling for the perfect amount of time. Some food is bland, but they can't please everyone. You can adjust the food to your taste. You are paying for the service. I don't have to buy all the ingredients and end up throwing some away. I don't have to eat the same thing for a week. I love variety. And the portions are perfect. Agree that it's just a convection oven, not an air fryer. It cooks more on the right because that's where the fan is. I use it for other food. The app has recipes.

I agree. I like the fact that you get a variety and get fresh non processed meals for the week. But it does suck that it’s not exactly budget friendly for most people, which is why we eat the same thing for a week.

Honestly, the price isn't bad. It's getting to where I spend that much at a fast food place for less food of lower quality.

I just found you on collab with Daisy Sue. I love her. You seemed down to earth. So I'm here for it. I subscribed. Hit the bell to be notified.😂🤷‍♀️✌🤘🙏

Aw thanks Susan! I'm a little more abrasive over here than Daisy but I try to keep it down to earth haha

I agree with you about the price. I got $50 dollar oven deal which requires ordering six weeks of meals. I had my first meal tonight. It about $12. If they were to sell the meals locally that could make them a few dollars cheaper.

I was just thinking does it still fully cook as well when the bottom is blocked with the black pan

I really like using it for the iPhone clips. Gotta aim the lapel one better though, got a little muffled at the end.

Great review of this Papi, I didn't even know it was a thing!! I think this deff has a market but it's not me hahaha I feel like 16 is high for a chicken meal that at home I would end up with a bunch of left overs and not really any different prep than you did for one. I know part of that is my age, I'm in my 40's and sick of thinking whats for dinner, shopping it, cooking it- so if I can do all of that and have 3 days worth of chicken, broc and taters I'm happier haha

You should try and recreate fast food meals instead of buying fast food! See how close you can get to making them taste the same and probably way healthier

Solid review! I just want to leave a tip when it comes to seasoning your proteins you should be sprinkling them from a high distance and also flip the meat around to season all sides instead of plopping it on and lathering with your hands. This will result in a much more even seasoning job instead of it caked on one side and is applicable to all foods not just proteins.
@PapiEats
@PapiEats Год назад
Thanks! I typically would season all sides, but was just following the instructions to a T for the Tovala meals.

Not sure if that's a filet or not but a filet when bought in the market is now very expensive. It's apparent by the soda you are drinking and by the things you threw away that you have a paupers pallet.

If you're allergic to fish, you did right to toss the nuoc cham and carrots. I personally love the stuff but no need killing yourself.

I just ordered mine yesterday about 8 months after this vid. So I didn't get it yet. I ordered 3 orders of 8 meals over 3 weeks. I ordered at least 2 steak meals each week, and the price was about $105 each week before shipping. Maybe things have changed since 8 months ago, but I haven't seen any $10 mark up for the steaks. O did I miss it? Either way, I spend between $90 and $125 a week in groceries anyway, so figuring i some of the minor things I still need to buy, it's not much more than I normally pay. I had two concerns going in. I didn't realize these went inthe fridge so I was concerned about them fitting in the freezer. Which is not an issue anymore. The other was, I'm big guy, so I was worried if the meals were enough. But from the vids I have seen, they look fine. Especially since I wanted to cut down what I ate a little. Not a fish person but I find myself wanting to try the salmon dishes at least.

The healthier dishes usually leave me a littttle hungry, but I'm also not small and that's probably for the better since I could stand to trim down a bit. Usually the steak dishes have an added cost but I can't say for sure they're all like that. I hope you enjoy! I've got another video coming up here soon of a recent week of meals. I do really enjoy the service.

@@PapiEats Thanks for the info. My plan was to by a fresh veggie like spinach, asparagus or Broccoli and just add them to the dish. I just checked and all three weeks say $103 no matter what I ordered. But maybe because I am ordering 8 meals a week it's like that? OK, I looked closer and yes, it did add $10 for one of the steak dishes and $5 for another. In my excitement I didn't SCROLL Down. LOL. It seems they sort of low key try to hide the added money. As in, they don't make it that obvious of the extra charge. No worries, I will be more careful ordering in the future. I know I can change it but I am curious how good they taste.

completely agree, certain meals are good and flavorful but way overpriced. it was cool and new at first but over time it just wasn't worth it. also, that Italian salsa is completely unnecessary on a lot of the meals it comes with. i usually throw it out.

Why do you line your black pan and put it in there when you just have your food in the tins?
@PapiEats
@PapiEats Год назад
I likely had it lined for something else previously and it wasn’t dirty so I left it. If I recall you’re supposed to still use the tray but I’m not sure it matters. I’ve cooked without it too. Don’t want anything to splash out of the trays onto the heating element.

Loved the break down. This just wouldn't be for me. I love cooking. I cook for Mom and I, so the meals are too small and her health doesn't allow for certain foods. Meals are too expensive. I bought a 12 piece package of chicken drumsticks for $5 and threw them in a crockpot with pasta sauce, sweet red wine and Parmesan and Romano cheese. All for under $10. When I season things, I have shaker bags here I put the seasonings or my blends in, put in a steak, pork chop or chicken in and shake until it is evenly covered and not just on top. Mic sounds great.

Thanks for the review. I was think of getting one and now I'm not. Rather expensive delivered meals and doesn't cook your own food very well unless you use the right side. Thanks again, very helpful video. Safe Journey! CHOLULA!!!

@DAVIDTATLITUG

C'mon, any convection oven is an air fryer so why did you buy this? It does cook more than the meals they sale. It can scan any grocery store item that has a bar code and they have a thousand recipes on line. Tired of reviewers saying that you must buy it only if using their meals. Not true.

This product is not suited for me. I rather spend the time cooking the old fashion way. Experimenting and creating my own meals. Getting my own ingredients. Make them healthy or unhealthy as I like. I don't mind making eggs a hundred ways. Can not really recommend or unrecommend this. It's up to the individual to decide if it is worth it.
