@@drago939393 I wonder if in the 2050's people will be fondly reminiscing about SoundCloud rappers, when talking about the latest AI song being uploaded directly into their cerebral cortex.
That's because Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails had complete musical control over The Crow back in 94 and they took a lot of the fashion and such from him as well. Such a Shame Trent Reznor is now a Woke Sell Out.
@@justinlast2lastharder749 lol way to tell us you've never listened to nine inch nails. Reznor was always woke, chud. I bet you think Rage Against the Machine went woke l
I've never seen either film, just the trailer for the new one and today us when I learned there was an original; however, looking at the Original Crow and the new guy, I have to say you're 100% accurate. It makes me wonder if the film makers intended it.
@@ginnungagap9793 well for the original it was 1994 and it was based off the comic that came before that so when it comes to heath ledger that’s a long shot however I’m not sure about the new one tho apparently lil peep was a influence
The thing is the actor is great. The writing is shit. They literally took the original thing pissed on it and went along with the new one. The comic is actually a really nice story and you get to explore the original author. The new movie doesnt follow that it creates a new thing just beacause they wanted
A lot of fun action flashy stuff but, cringy storyline.. It is enjoyable action, you forgot storyline when action is happening. Fun bad movie for me is this kind of movie.
The funniest part of them trying to redesign Eric/The Crow to be more “modern” is that Brandon Lee’s swag in the original has aged perfectly with 90s-early 2000s mallgoth fashion making a comeback. Meanwhile the design they gave Bill Skarsgaard’s version of Eric looks stuck in 2017. The old design would’ve honestly fit much better with modern times and would’ve looked much less dated IMO.
@Joseph44141I’ve pulled your IP through your RU-vid account data and reported you to the local police, you absolutely disgust me and you need to be investigated by law enforcement.
Did you know The Crow is actually based on a comic book and loosely based on a true story by the writer as a way to cope with an accident with his fiancé?
I have that book. Fantastic graphic novel. The author is named James O' Barr. His girlfriend was tragically killed in a car accident when he called her to pick him up from work. He struggled with guilt and ended up drawing and writing the book by himself as a coping mechanism. It took him a long time, but it paid off. O' Barr was also on set for the '94 movie, and became close friends with Brandon Lee. Lee's freak accident on set devastated O' Barr, and he ended up believing the story of The Crow was cursed. However, he is now happily married and has children. He is at peace living a good life now and free from guilt.
Man I really dont like shelly having a personal connection to the main villain or him having power. Part of what made what happened to them so terrifying was that the villains were normal people. They’re disgusting, vile people but they are still normal humans. The randomness of their car breaking down in the middle of nowhere is what makes it so effective and horrifying, because its much more relatable that way. I really hope one day theres a faithful adaptation of the crow, because the comic is fucking phenomenal and both movies (even the good one) fail to capture what made the original story so great
Especially if you consider the context of why the writer originally made the comics, because the guy who killed his fiancée was just another person. A fucked up person, but another person who just happened to be there when she was.
It makes me so sad that this movie claims it’s related to a comic that was made by a victim of drunk driving. O’Barr’s comic was his way to cope with his fiance’s death due to a drunk driver. It just seems like the source material wasn’t looked at like- AT ALL when the remake was made, whereas the og movie was made by a fan of the comic (at least to my understanding)
@@Kamalot4701 Yeah. The OG movie is out of this world, it’s sad that the entire movie was wrapped around with so much darkness involving Brandon’s death, but his legacy lives on. RIP Bruce and Brandon man
@@Kamalot4701it’s a damn shame about the original too because they wanted to make it more accurate like adding the skull cowboy from the comics but they weren’t able to due to the unfortunate passing of Brandon Lee.
2:38 just listening to you talk about the crow murdering a man is what I imagine exactly what a Roman peasant in the Colosseum would sound like after watching a brutal fight.
I knew the movie was going to be ass when the trailer was like "This is about love." NOPE. The Crow was never about love (in that sense). It's about the grief and rage a senseless death gives you. It's about being so wronged that even in death, you cannot rest.
Just the lack of long hair on this Goth Icon the Staple of Goth community the Goth idol and they give him a balding buzz cut and face tattoos I’d summarise this whole film into that one meme “She’s bald and she’s torturing people that have hair”
3:49 i was literally at the theater when I saw the video pop up in my notifications, and I’m like “NOPE, no spoilers, I’ll suffer through it without em” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now that you've seen it, we're you surprised by out of all the spoilers he didn't mention the egregious ending of the movie? SPOILER The part where she comes back, but the timeline of the entire movie was after her funeral? So did any of that happen? Did the guys who killed her and Eric cease to exist once she was brought back? Is her Mom still alive? Horrible ending.
The original Crow Comics can allow for many kinds of revenge stories to be told and created. Honestly The Crow would make a good anthology series to see different kinds of people take up the mantle of The Crow, different people of backgrounds, race, genders, religion affiliation, class status and more possibilities
I think the author tried to make a sequel called The Bride, which ultimately inspired(?) Kill Bill but something happened and it was never published. I'm pretty sure there are many Crow variations out there too, but most of them are not by James O' Barr.
There actually was an anthology of short stories published - not a comic, a novel - that was pretty good. It covered exactly what you said, with different people from all walks of life receiving the power of The Crow. I can't remember the name of the book offhand but it should be pretty easy to find if you look for it. I used to borrow it from the library every so often because I couldn't afford to buy it.
At least the sequel crow movies change characters and background stories... are they as good as the original no. But at least they didn't use the original characters' names and then completely fuck those characters own character traits... so now instead of Eric hating drugs, he's a user?? Rubbish.
Can’t believe you actually mentioned that awful game which also came out on PS1 and PC and I’m gonna assume the PS1 port it’s worse or a itty bitty better than the Saturn port
@@kokotheclown2588 the PSX version is better I think; if I remember correctly the Saturn version has worse load times and cuts out a specific point you can continue from when you die in the middle of one particularly hard stage
Yo a CinemaSnob fan? I see you are a person of culture. Also lol as I was typing this reply I noticed your name and I've been subbed to you for like... I wanna say 15 years? I think it was the Dead Rising Movie Trailer (fake) that made me sub to you.
fun bad movies are awesome, one of my favorite movies, killer klowns from outer space, is not a horror masterpiece, but it knows its not, its campy, goofy, it plays into the absurdity and its a fun watch
I can see why Charlie liked the movie it sounds like Eric was basically Charlie when he was in college as the mysterious anime weirdo who doesn't say anything and it's just trying to be mysterious so that girls will think he's cool.
Why does this sound like the OG 1 mixed with OG 2? The second OG movie the 'boss' gets godly powers and fights the crow and speaks in tongues and uses people who can predict the future and stuff, all takes place in LA and the 'boss' is the biggest drug dealer in town and everyone uses his stuff, its like they just MOSHED 1 and 2 together.
This movie was awesome. It's not a remake, it's more of a retelling of the comic, like "Batman Begins". I'm happy to see it's starting to get a little appreciation. And yes, the last twenty minutes were wild
Just the lack of long hair on this Goth Icon the Staple of Goth community the Goth idol and they give him a balding buzz cut and face tattoos 💀 I’d summarise this whole film into that one meme “She’s bald and she’s torturing people that have hair”
@@stolenkaos6621exactly. It's nodding to Andy Biersack(may have spelled that wrong) and Chris Motionless modern goth/scene look. Traditional goth hipsters exist but it's the niche for sure. This is more appealing to the wider alternative culture today.
That's cause the word Goth nowadays is misused as style to those who absolutely still have no idea that it was made to express the negative into something that can be beautiful instead. Long hair never meant goth, but it was always an expressive way into denying others most ur face to the point it was then the "peak" look of what they thought suit the word. I assure u don't require hair at all and this is coming from a guy who's hair is down to my pelvis. I'm actually sick of hearing that common misconception.
