Bought one of these off the showroom as a leftover in 1980 . It was either on the pipe or not, loved it .

Those were my favorite motocrossers ever! I loved the extremely narrow powerband and utter simplicity of them. My longest jump happened on one (not on purpose) but it's light weight helped it to end well, despite almost no suspension travel.

Had a 79 125 cr. Thing had a 23 inch front wheel that would just shake in fifth gear. Don’t remember exactly but I think it was the last year before mono shock. Thanks ✌️

I had a '78 CR250R Elsinore, back in the mid-80's once you wound it up, "get on the pipe" it was rocket! Only thing was it didn't have any low-end so the only way to ride it was "on the pipe"! Sold it about year later, then got a '81 CR450R Elsinore dealer left over stock it was new. First owner. It had a fair low and med it to was "on the pjpe" riding. It was just a bigger rocket! 😅 It chewed up rear tires and chains and spockets! I always thought that the "CR" stood for Crotch Rocket! Great memories!!

in 1982, 83, 84, I was working part time as a motorcycle salesman in a Honda shop. A very busy shop just before the Harley tariff completely destroyed the motorcycle industry in this country driving over 1100 dealerships out of business in the first two years alone, 7700 jobs were lost because of that Harley tariff.. But before the tariff when motorcycles were cheap. 1982, Honda offered its large dealerships leftover CR 125s, still in the crates, they were Unsold in the warehouses on the East Coast. Brand new you could have one of these motorcycles for $500.. that sounds cheap right now but in 1982 that was a lot of money. they also offered brand new. I don’t remember if it was the 250s or the 500s, dirt bikes. I don’t know if they were playing bikes or the motocross bikes, but they were also $500 for a brand new one, they were leftovers two years old.

I had a 1976 back in the day. Ungodly loud, came with an optional silencer for woods riding, but you lost a ton of power. Pretty much an indestructible bike.

It must have been a 1974 cr125, the first year they came out and the only year the 125 had the "expert green" colors. I raced a brand new one back in the 70's. What a great bike. I now have a pristine restored one sitting in my living room. Such living room art I can enjoy every day just looking at it. The cr250 was out in 1973 and was green for 2 years.

My first good bike! Got one of those out the crate in79 payed a whopping 625 for it. What a angry bee those are! Get her up to 10,000 rpm and go through the gears .trying to remember but weren't those 24hp? At 185lb and the gears they used you could hole shot just about any other bike. My dad bought a first year 750 virago and we raced down the street. I blew his door's until I hit the top speed of 55?60? And here he comes!!!! Was just looking at a picture of me on it as I hadn't even riden it yet. 13years old Damm I looked good ( hahaha) Anyways you riding that makes me smile and I'm hoping you love it as much as I did. I literally rode the paint off that bike and it meant so much!!!! Peace Friend

Mega cool , these CR"s (circut racer) are deadly cool , the power they produce is phenomenal.. Nothing else sounds like this bike on song . They will rip the knobs of the rear tire ,if in good tune . I had the 1978 CR 250 r Elsinore, and it would eat all other bikes ,throwing a dirt rooster tail out over 20 ft high. Sadly ,,i let it go some years back ,but i should have kept it ,,and thrashed the pants of other veteran motocrossers . CR 250 r RULZ

@@c.a.marsupial.1282 G'day mate,, I had to reply to the KTM Duke, I really like KTM , still have 250SX, The Dukes are great bikes ,I like them cause they are a cool wheelstand bike ,,,but their road bikes are cool too. The company is headin in a major cool direction,,, Im on the east coast of OZ, 50 mile south of Sydney, the mountains are close ,so i thrash up the pass & down the hill valleys, but we also have some cool bends too ,there are 5 mountain pass roads close to me . Most of the champion OZ riders come from thos area ,, Its nothin like USA, Cops dont allow bikie groups, social groups are ok ,,but do a wheelie 1k fine demerit points on licence ,,, 30 kph over 2k fine loss lic 3 month.... ,45kph over impounded loss lic 6 months 3k fine. So ,,, I dont fuckin let them catch me . Later Bro Respect
