Love this album. They're tapping into something special here. Everyone is gonna say this reminds them of My Bloody Valentine, but this actually sounds much more like My Vitriol. They're a severely slept-on nu-gaze band from England that had a huge debut in 2001-ish and then just kinda vanished. They pop up here and there, but they're super obscure. There was a moment where there was talk that they were gonna be the next big thing. Chino from Deftones was a huge fan and they influenced their sound around that era. Check em out sometime. They're very interesting.
@@lira.msc.99 coming back to a two year old comment to say I agree 100%. I have never been so equally in love with and also frustrated with any other band. They're incredible but they've only produced two albums and they're something like 15 years apart. If ever there was a "best-kept-secret" band, it's them for sure.
So glad you checked them out! Infinite Granite falls heavily on the shoe gaze side of their music and besides one or two songs, there isn't really any black metal. If you want to check out some of their more black metal influenced tracks I would recommend Honeycomb or Worthless Animal and for songs with a heavier black metal influence Dreamhouse or Vertigo(my personal favorites). Personally I think checking out the whole Sunbather album would be a great introduction into the band.
I’m coming to this late but I have to recommend Brought to the water. Their best combination of black metal and shoe gaze in my opinion. And it’s fucking epic
I adore this album, but yeah it’s definitely quite different from their previous material. They’ve been slowly heading in a more shoegaze/post-rock direction for a while, but there were still plenty of metal elements on the last two records. Imo they killed it with this style tho If you’re looking for blackened, riffy Deafheaven, then I’d highly recommend their song “Brought to the Water”
DUDE! Finally. You should check out canary yellow from ordinary corrupt human love. Its such a special song that has a lot of power and truly is the song that made me love the band in the first place,
One of the best albums of the year. Hope to see you react to “great mass of color” by them. My personal favorite. Thank you for reacting, much love dude 💙
YES! Finally! Such a great band. This is a change for the band. I would suggest listening to sunbather and their other 2 albums first and then get to this one. Glad you into them!
I love this song so much, it reminds me a lot of the cartoon Hilda for some reason. The whole album is so beautiful. Plz check out "Mombasa" if you have the chance, that song made me cry and it actually might be my song of the year
They really do this style well! However I prefer when they blend more of the metal elements in personally haha two recommendations I have are Dream House and Black Brick for their blackened shoegaze style
The drumming in this band is phenomenal, I think because they came from blast beating for 9 minutes on older albums he really mastered his craft when the band decided to calm down a bit. They were my most listened to band of the year, which is strange cause I’m normally a basic metalcore enjoyer.
Would recommend checking out Sunbather and Ordinary Corrupt Human Love on your own time. Two of my favorite albums to revisit and just listen through every couple months. Respect the band's choice to change things up and drop the extreme metal side of their sound, but I thought that without it, there wasn't enough to distinguish them or make the record memorable.
Check Devil Sold His Soul. They had my AOTY until Kin was released. Ambient post-hardcore/metalcore that has the same meandering song structure as this.
I absolutely love Infinite Granite! Such a journey of atmosphere! Check out Great Mass of Color 👍. And imo, a perfect place to start if you want to hear some of their older material, check out Dream House 🙂✌️
Most certainly not for me. I couldn't listen to this type of music on a regular basis. It sounds really good, but I feel like you have to be in a certain state of mind to truly appreciate it for what it is.
