Yeah people tend to underestimate Godzillas intelligence. He may be strong af but he hasn't lived that long through sheer strength alone. He's fought so many titans, all different shapes and sizes.
Godzilla was crazy in this because the ghidorah head kept calling out to Godzilla and he couldn’t find it which is why Godzilla kept attacking the apex facility
Yea I mean when you really look at it, he was just attacking Apex facilities ...He wasn't just randomly attacking Little Billy down the street for no reason
No, that's not it. Don't you remember seeing those mechanized pods emitting high pitched frequencies that Apex was planting in their own facilities to get Godzilla to attack? Those pods were what Bernie saw at the Pensacola facility during Godzilla's attack, but had been retrieved when he and Millie Bobbie Brown went back to the Pensacola base to investigate them. It ended up leading them to Apex's secret underground bases and interconnected tunnel network, but the pods were what Apex was using that they were now looking for. Once they got there it really didn't matter if they found more or not because they'd already struck the motherload. They discovered Skull Crawlers and Hellbats in underground birthing pods that they were using to test and refine Mecha Godzilla's capabilities with. Apex needed those minerals from the Hollow Earth since they were lacking a sufficient energy source capable of powering Mecha Godzilla for longer than just a few minutes. It was the same stone that Kong's axe was made from and could be charged with by drawing on the energy and heat of Earth's molten core. That was why Apex asked Alexander Skarsgard's character to accompany Kong and Monarch to the Hollow Earth and gave them those H.E.A.V. vehicles to use. Once they got there, the security team his daughter was leading, who were supposedly only there to "supervise" them, would doublecross them and kill them after extracting the mineral. Thankfully, Kong saw what was happening and he stopped them, but this is what was actually going on. What Apex didn't count on, however, after extracting a sample was the energy in it being sooooo gaddamn powerful that it would also revive King Ghidorah's regeneration capacities, putting the genetic memory contained in his skull in control of Mecha Godzilla altogether. Once it kickstarted his regeneration, it overpowered the human minds controlling it. Up until then Ghidorah was dead. He wasn't emitting any type of life force whatsoever for Godzilla to trace.
@@Britton_Thompson Yea those “pods” giving off the frequencies on their own like shown in the first one revealed after showing Godzilla’s first hunt for it are actually the eyes of Mecha G...well xtra versions/copies
@UCiDYJyxv8mvui09ScKJMEZg Naw i feel like ghidorah was playing possum, waiting for the energy source so he could actually control the body, he shows himself to be "alive" to soon and they may scrap the project.
"I didn't bet on Kong, but I like him." I like that mindset. He still believes in Kong even tho his bets were on Godzilla. That's the mindset I had watching this movie
Y’all need to see it from Godzilla’s perspective Imagine sensing danger for 3 years not knowing where it is or what it’s coming from but knowing it’s a major threat to you So then they push Kong out to where Godzilla can sense him and his first instinct is to put down this new titan to ensure there’s no threat He was just annoyed af and they kinda put the movie through kongs perspective and less of Godzilla’s
And while he searched for the problem source, he now have to face Kong whose species was his ancient enemy. That's why he looks so f*cking pissed in this movie
The g man really blasted a hole all the way to the middle of the earth just for the smoke and won 🤣 i don't count the first fight but the second most definitely
Glad you guys enjoyed it and understood this movie is great NOT because of the performances, but because it delivered what it promised, and the interactions between Kong and Godzilla are amazing. Long live the kings.
Yeah, a great or even serviceable performance from the characters(primarily the actors, it's a lot easier to characterise Kong and Godzilla),would be nice, but many of us came to this movie to watch COLOSSAL monsters squaring up- And the animation is fantastic in that regard
The only thing i don't like about this movie is the side story with (Eleven's) character. That whole story added mostly nothing to the plot and they didn't need to spend so much time on that. It was fine for KOTM but in this movie it just bored the hell out of me. The Asian guy that died charging Godzilla in KOTM was the best human character imo in these movies.
@@intenseowl1255 those characters were made for the audience to get what was happening inside apex. Other than that and Josh pouring alcohol on the systems, they were pretty boring.
Godzilla been a hero a villain an antihero, hes force of nature a God of destruction and with all the things hes done in the 36 films hes starred in plus comic books and manga there's reason why hes called of the King of the monster.
to be fair without Kong there wouldn't be Godzilla or any of the monsters movies there is now so I've got to give my respect to Kong for doing this and making Godzilla a household name
@@RicardoPerez-rz8pu what nonsense lmao 😂😂😂 No body cares if Kong is there or not! If Godzilla had not fought Kong before Mecha, his energy drained out! He was alone fine for Mecha. Godzilla is way before than Kong.
@@nowwhytwo1636 without the original king kong vs godzilla, Godzilla might not have been as big as he is now. It was only after that movie that the franchise went into full effect.
Actually he’s been a force of nature first and foremost in the very first movie he was a metaphor for nuclear bombings of Japan. He was neither a good guy or a bad guy just mindless violence.
This movie REALLY gave Kong a lot more to work with yea...Actually had an arc and feels...Same for me I'm a die hard G fan, but it's hard not to like Kong. Godzilla was just on errands the whole movie and a bit more linear in terms of story...Literally just out to end this "presence" he feels and to end Mecha G.. That's what I like about the ending the most with Mecha G entering the scenario it allowed them to have mutual understanding and respect for one another cuz they're both defenders/protectors of people/Earth at the end of the day.
The movie gave Kong a lot of character it’s really hard to hate him at all he feels like he develops a lot through the movie so his loss doesn’t seem all that bad at all.
@@Karma-pq9fi We definitely need more monsterverse. Another solo Godzilla film and Kong film, then another team up. I think destoroyah or another top level Kaiju would be good.
The fact that a CG Giant Monke is one of my favorite characters among all of the movies I've watched recently, is mind blowing. Visual storytelling at it's best.
We still got destroyah, mecha ghidorah, Gigan, megalon, orga, biollante, space godzilla for *main godzilla bad guys* . And with this film and the whole concept of humans controlling a kaiju then they could make Jet Jaguar work.
The long, uncut shots of Godzilla and Kong fighting was such a treat. It's a shame they didn't do much with Millies character, but the deaf girl and her bond with Kong was great.
Dear Lord, I hated Millie's character and that stupid fucking conspiracies dude. Could they have made a more stupid story for those three? Two teenagers find him in a couple of hours when he's been undercover for years, hiding from people with a million times more resources and personel.. by looking for a random store that sells bleach because, apperantly, he's an even bigger idiot than I thought and actually showers with it. Is that supposed to be a racial joke or something?
@@Allexstrasza Yeah I feel like the family plot definitely brought down KvG. They were barely in the film and didn’t make much of a difference except for finding Mecha G-Man and saving Kong

Pretty sure they'll continue the monsterverse with kong but not with godzilla cause the license ends in this movie with godzilla. Kong on the other hand is american made so they'll continue him.
@@exiles4527 I think they said after movie release they could talk to them but at moment think they are still in talks but likely might not be able too. look back seems they could make a deal but they would wait to see how well the box office does for the movie so if it does good could help them with a deal
Kong's strength in this one comes with his intelligence and his axe. It reminds me a lot of how we humans work. I remember once talking with my biology teacher about how humans were "powerful" enough to have survived this long against other creatures that are naturally and instinctively stronger and were born with the tools to survive in the wild. Putting this in the context of the monsterverse Godzilla is one of these creatures. He thought about what answer to give me that day and after an hour he told me that humans in the food chain were one of the weakest, probably around fish and other small creatures, but what makes us stronger than most living beings is our intelligence and our ability to create and wield weapons. That is, our firepower and how we use it, that have the strength to be used against other creatures. In this case Kong's use of an axe to maximize his strength, power AND opportunities, along with his agility and intelligence to think on what works best during the fight.
I think it was wise to make Kong the protagonist & lead character this time. That way you can spend more time on at least one Kaiju character because he's more relatable and you can read his body language. And let's be brutally honest here.... Godzilla's first two Monsterverse movies underachieved. It's true. They did. The reason they did is because there was never enough screentime given to Godzilla or any of the other Kaiju since those types of creatures mandate extra time be spent on the humans at Monarch who are Godzilla 'experts' constantly spouting exposition the entire time just to explain things to the audience. At least with Kong you can decipher his behavior and responses yourself since he's a highly intelligent primate like us. We can see the sadness, the anger, and the compassion on his face. No further explanation needed with Kong- we get him by instinct.
Two things to remember! one, Godzilla wouldn't have attacked humanity if Apex didn't provoke him by using monster zero's head to power a mecha titan. Hong kong and that place in florida would still be okay if it wasn't for apex. They also showed us in a way that kong's kind were at war with either Godzilla's kind or with other titans in the hollow earth.
I was rooting for Godzilla from the very start. It's just every time he's on screen, I get these unexplainable goosebumps. Godzilla's very presence is chilling to me, and that design is like an eye candy, LMAO.
Kong never surrendered, he lost yes but he never yielded, when he dropped the axe that was a sign of mutual respect realizing that they are not enemies. When zillas foot was on his chest kong roared back almost as if he was saying "i am.not afraid. You can kill me but im going out a KING, BOWING TO NO ONE." Which is why he trys to get back up. Great movie.
@@snakeboy1912 Lmao, sure, let's not talk aboult all the buffing bullshit Godzilla's been getting these last few movies, hell even in this one, where was that agility when he fought Ghidorah or the MUTOs
Even with the buffs, he's still weak as hell for some reason. Even though I enjoy this movie, the result really doesn't satisfy me as a Kong Fan and no its not because Godzilla won but moreover they made Kong have so much help throughout the movie. If you're gonna fight against the King Of The Monster, then you should be able to do stuff on your own, he needed to be revived, he barely did jack shit to Godzilla and his axe did nothing. No blood, no wound, no injury, no nothing, Godzilla's not even limping. They should've at least made Godzilla dripping in blood or something but other than that I enjoyed the film
Normies, this was such an amazing reaction. Can we please get reactions { with this crew and anyone who wants to join } for "Godzilla", "Kong: Skull Island", and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" next ?
The movie really fails in showing a Godzilla perspective and giving him the explanations he deserves. He was never the villain, but he was written as one. It’s implied in articles and director things but never said in the movie but Godzilla had been stressing over Apex cuz he could sense Ghidorah in their possession and messing with him with a giant robot. Then the human threw Kong into the mix and Godzilla instinctually felt the need to make sure Kong wasn’t a problem. My mans been having a rough time lol
i get what you mean and im Team Godzilla all the way, but i could kinda see what the story was going for where you think Godzilla is going crazy for no reason but when Mechagodzilla is revealed, it makes a lot of sense why hes acting that way (even just watching the movie, and not just from the articles you mentioned), my big gripe is that i wish Godzilla had more screentime and i wish that the B Team of humans (Stranger Things and the guy from Atlanta) were more firmly on Godzilla's side and mentioned him more
Agree.... I liked this movie a lot but think it portrayed godzilla as kind of a "mischievous bully" or whatever, with all the smirks and glares and such. On one hand this kind of works because the movies really from Kongs POV most of the time, and does add to the idea that Godzilla isn't truly a protector of humanity. But I think a lot is lost from the "stoic force of nature" godzilla the other two movies show off.
@@rodanandme yeah for sure, buuuuut the idea of Godzilla randomly going against humans only worked for me in the trailers. In the trailers they made it seem like he’s BEEN attacking humans for “no reason” but in the movie he attacked Apex once and everyone just immediately decided Godzilla had to be put down. They didn’t even stop to consider Apex was up to something
@@erikbrenner5138 i think part of it is that its an american company producing this movie (i believe i actually havent checked), so i kind of went into it expecting more of a Kong-focused story since Kong is America's darling kaiju, i like that this movie made Godzilla a bit more mysterious, it would get kind of crazy if Kong, Mothra, AND Godzilla had human friends who were like "no theyre actually super sweet!" but maybe having someone be critical or super scared of Kong like in Hong Kong wouldve given this movie a lil more nuance
@@erikbrenner5138 yeah. I agree and like the fact that it was more Kong oriented cuz Gman already got two movies but I think they portrayed him completely wrong in this movie. I love the call backs to the 62 film. Boating kong, airlifting Kong, axe handle shoved in Godzilla’s mouth. Especially ripping off MGs head like in 74.
The only thing that could've made GvK cooler for me is if Goji's jaw ended up dislocated after the axe hit him in the mouth, but later there's a scene where Kong prepares for an uppercut and Goji notices it, then positioning his head to that Kong's punch snaps his jaw back into place
I honestly was so happy this movie settled the argument of Kong or Godzilla cause my cousin was a huge Kong fan but I had to let him know that Godzilla is literally king of the monsters for a reason, he didn’t earn that shit simply by just being a giant lizard. So when the movie came out we were watching it together and when it shows the scene where kong submits to Godzilla after being beat up, I was roid raging with happiness and my cousin was just like “okay whatever dude” 😂😂
I like how they took nods from the Millennium era. Kiryu went rampant "AI" since it was made with '54 goji's skeleton. WAIT i just remembered they used the oxygen destroyer in this movieverse. One of Goji's most deadliest enemy was created from the weapon... Destroyah next villian?????? THOUGHTS!?
And Kiryu take so many moves like punch with the rockets, maybe take the 3 versions of mechagodzilla's maybe the spectre of Ghidorah like mg3 (Kiryu), the power like mg2 and the destruction like mg1
The original Mecha Godzilla is actually made by the "Black hole aliens" from another planet. So imagine they do alien invasion next movie that would be interesting.
Mark 31:37. Had, "Top Gun: Maverick", been released as originally planned, it would have been out before this movie. The U.S. Navy currently has 10 such ships.)
Lethal weapon 2 reference with Kong popping his shoulder back in. I wasnt a big fan on my first watch, but on my second watch It won me over, and It would be a shame if they didnt continue this series. JET JAGUAR vs KONG and GODZILLA
I like how Kong was airlifted. Reference to how it was done in the original classic King Kong Vs. Godzilla. Same with Kong sticking the axe handle in Godzilla's mouth like how it was done in the classic with a tree.
What happened on skull Island was the titans emerging caused a massive storm to form on the island which wiped out all life on the island except for the creatures in the dome

Both have mutual respect for one another now, and Godzilla knows Kong isn't a threat to the planet by any means now..His objective was always seeking out and destroying Mecha G's presence. Kong had a misunderstanding of Godzilla at first too, but they're both equally protectors/defenders of Earth.
This movie shows you how strong these creatures are, they are not at all in any way, slow or dumb. Godzilla with his length and size was able to keep up with Kong besides when Kong jumps around. He blasted a hole all the way to hollowed earth. Kong showed a lot of combat intelligence when fighting Godzilla for only the second time by using his ability to move around faster. He was also pretty good with the axe. Kong being able to use sign language even though he can't speak it's such a good way to introduce a mutual language they can communicate with. You rarely often get to see these guys go at it without almost any limitations and dark darkness.
Kong never had a chance, Godzilla is 252 million years old, Kong is barely 80. At the beginning they said Kong was still growing, but even if he is at full growth he does not have as much XP with other apex titans as Godzilla and he still has a childlike mind. We saw pretty comlex structures for an ape in his home so he still as a lot of room to grow. We will have a rematch for sure i think. After all he is known as King Kong

Mark 32:10. Gene Roddenberry's made-for-television movies of the 1970s, that weren't "Star Trek" related at all, were set in a near future, relatively that is. If I recall right, "Planet Earth" and "Genisis", are the names of two of them, that share a universe. They include a subterranean transportation system, that looks like it was inspired by the vacuum tube message system used in department stores, but the shuttles are self-propelled, unlike the obsolete ones alluded to in one of the, "TMNT", movies, that were pneumatic. The system in, "Jurassic World: Dominion", looks like it was inspired by the one in this movie and the ones in, Gene's two movies. 🤔
If mothra was in the movie I would’ve loved for this movie to take the BvS route where Godzilla has Kong pinned down and all of a sudden Kong says, “MOTHRA, SAVE MOTHRA!”
Godzilla's whole thing in this movie is that he has to be the Alpha to keep all the Titans in check, no exceptions. So he HAD to make Kong submit so the other Titans would know not to start anything, just like in the intro where it was showing all the other Titans that Godzilla has defeated between the last movie and this one. It's likely that those titans didn't submit so he had to kill them, luckily Kong was smart enough to so Godzilla was fine with leaving him alive. It was actually a pretty good way to write the story. Kong never wanted to be the Alpha, he just wants to do his own thing and protect who he cares about. So it actually makes sense for them to be able to co-exist with each other.
