He has grown from this already excellent young singer here (2017) to a world class, mature, complete artist. Dimash's works are meaningful, quite complex with lots of symbols and details. Totally art. I enjoy them deeply. The most important for me is still his voice, its pure angelic beauty, and how he uses it. FYI, Dimash was only 22 years old when he opened and won the very first episode of the I Am Singer Chinese show in 2017 with this performance of SOS - a showcase competition for well known, professional Chinese singers, with a voting audience of 500 people from the music industry. Dimash was the youngest and the first foreigner ever to be invited on the show as a wildcard and, as a total unknown in China, he wasn’t expected to last more than half the show. He astonished everyone, came second in the competition, an overnight sensation in China (600 million views of this performance) and a global phenomenon. He turned 28 in May. Dimash is university trained in classical (bel canto) and contemporary music and has been training (voice and piano) since he was 5 years old. He has degrees in voice (classical), contemporary music, completed a Masters in composition and is currently completing a PhD in musicology. He was offered a position with Astana Opera but declined to follow a career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music. His range is actually far beyond what you heard in this song. He can sing accurately deep into the 2nd octave (bass) all the way up to a D8 (whistle register). He can do some subharmonic notes into the 1st octave but it's debatable as to whether that is actually part of his singing range. Not to be too cliche but "you haven't heard nothin yet" as far as what he can do with his voice. More reactions from him are definitely recommended.

I’ve been following Dimash every day since hearing this performance 2017. I’ve flown to two other countries to see him in concert. Out of this world. Two and a half hours of opera, pop, rock, folk, etc, sung in Try Stranger which us in English or Sinful Passion or Zogni Pietra next,many languages, dancing, playing instruments, interacting with the audience. This performance was almost 6 years ago, Dimash was only 22. He is now 28, and has continued to train intensely in the intervening years. You truly need to watch some of his newer pieces. His portfolio is extensive, and every video is amazing. You will not ever be disappointed. Most every genre, Opera, Pop, Folk, R&B.. he even raps. Let us know what type of music you prefer, and we will recommend his songs that fit that genre.

Future reference: Dimash performs in several languages. So you'll want to look for English subtitles. You mentioned combining genre's without harming each one's integrity. Dimash is an absolute pro at that. With him you'll want to check out how he performs 1 song different in various performance venue's, MV vs competition vs live performance at one location vs live performance at another location. He always performs them different. To be honest, ever since my 1st experience with Dimash, he has become my standard, every song I hear on the radio, I automatically compare it to his vocal abilities. Dimash is truly phenomenal. I have seen him in concert twice this year. They were the best performances I have ever experienced in my entire 65 years. Dimash in my opinion is the best vocalist I have ever heard. He is the most mesmerizing and beautiful artist both inside and out I have ever had the pleasure of watching. This performance was in 2017 and he has only gotten better and better. Try Sinful Passion from 2018. Since he sings in many languages most of his performances has subtitles but he also sings in English so you will get some of those as well such as Stranger from 2021. Sometimes he sings no lyrics at all, just vocalizes and does it brilliantly.

Dimash has been through Vocal Training since he was 5 and even now he still perfects his craft, he is University Trained in both Classical and Contemporary Music, hence the reason why he's gifted in blending the two Elements in a Single Song. He has a 7 Octave Vocal Range and he hasn't even showcased his full Range in this Song. Dimash is also able to Sing in his Whistle Register with great Control and he's even able to perform Vocal Growls like some Bass Singers can. This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Yes, all micro-intentionality and masterful control. Dimash has been tuning his ear to perfect pitch since in his mothers womb! Both parents are well regarded singers in Kazakhstan and his mother has a particularly high & piercingly bright soprano voice. Genetics obviously plays a role here - but so does a heck of a lot of hard work. He takes nothing for granted and works daily on his craft. Dimash has been on stage since toddlerhood and was commenced into formal vocal training aged 5. From there he trained in, not only classical voice, but also musical theatre, pop, jazz, blues, the lot! He is also a multi-instrumentalist, and sings in over 14 languages. Dimash was offered a substantial contract with his country's National Opera Co. but declined in favour of exploring and developing his own style of classical/ crossover music. He has been writing songs since his teens, but I gather has recently completed his PHD in Composition. Dimash was raised in a very traditional culture and you will find numerous songs in his catalogue celebrating this. He also is keen to convey humanitarian messaging in his performances. At core Dimash is a Storyteller. Whilst others gush over his vocal colours, genre blends, range and technique, Dimash himself describes his voice as just one instrument he brings 'in service of' conveying the story of each piece. Yes, you are right, that crying vibrato is produced when he says “ why do I live, why do I cry” right there, and the staccato when he says he would like to be a bird… to see things from above. Actually, that was a diaphragmatic vibrato, not a jaw vibrato. Also I would be curious if you can name any other artist, male or female who does fusion singing between many genres of music (pop, rock, metal, folk, classical, rap, etc.), has a vocal range from C1-D8, sings in over 12 languages, whose voice is totally connected thru all registers and mechanisms, in short, have you ever heard anyone at all who can sing like Dimash? As a vocal coach what would you teach him? Dimash has 2 masters degrees in singing (Contemporary and Classical), he, as far as I know, has or will soon complete his PhD in music composition. He plays 7 instruments, has a Black Belt in Taekwondo, can act pretty well, and is very sweet and humble.

I am 74 years old, grew up in Europe, lives in USA since 1980, have listened to all type of music and genres, I love all kinds of music, but….Dimash is out to the norm. He sings to your ears and talks to your soul with every song he sings. He is that complete artist that have no comparison with any other singer I have ever heard. Respected lady vocal coach Thank you for analysing our dimash i love you for loving him. Dimash was tested age 5 for perfect pitch and was sent to special school youngest of his generation in kazakstan. This is why he has perfect placement. He said in interview when normal kids school for 8hours a day on various subjects he only focused on MUSIC for 8hours a day SO IT COMES TO NO SUPRISE he is the best vocalist in the world YEP i said vocalist and not singer because vocalist i objective and singer is subjective. You can actually measure dimash voice 6octives with ammense control = objectively the best vocalist. AS for for best singer is subjective to each person to who is there favourite.

Dimash is a blessing. Honestly, every single one of his voices, notes, registers, octaves are pure beauty. And his heart matches perfectly 💝

If u analyze some of his performances, he is an "intelligent and healthy" singer with his technique on how to position his body and larynx which makes him so relaxed with no vocal strained at all, he also a great performer with his presence, body language and deliverence, a great story teller too, so much emotion poured through his words which makes the audiences can't help but intrigued even though he sing mostly on foreign language. If usually most singer "opened up" themself to the audiance what this guy does is pulling them towards him instead. Truly a master at his crafts, hundred thousand of hours training must be piled on top of his blessed talent to be on that level. I suggest you to continue "studying" him, there's ALOT and (i mean it) to see from this man, on every of his performances there would be suprise for you to see, even on a same song his deliverence is always gonna be different. What a great reaction! I've been following Dimash for about 2 years now and he still surprises me. He still blows me away with every performance. He has a Masters Degree in both Classical and Contemporary music. He is also working on a PhD in Composition although, he may have completed it by now. He actually composed his latest MV which is almost 14 minutes long and has an amazing message. It's almost like a mini movie. Anywho, I recommend starting with a few of his older performances. Sinful Passion, is a great one. His newer music is amazing as well. Ikanaide, Stranger, Okay. Otir Oter is another favorite of mine. It means "Life is Short". You can't go wrong with any of Dimash's music. I am 63 years old and can honestly say that he is the greatest vocalist I have ever heard. No one can compete with him. You have just touched the surface of the Dimash wonder. This was the first song of the first contest outside of Kazakhstan. The contest was the Chinese competition 'I Am Singer 2017' Dimash had absolutely NO chance of placing much less winning against seasoned professionals ... until he opened his mouth. There are 12 performances of different songs in this contest and he nailed them all. The only reason he got 2nd place was political. After all, a non0Chinese cannot be expected to get first place competing against Chinese professionals. Dimash has been singing since age 5, has perfect pitch, plays multiple instruments, composes, has several degrees including a doctorate in musicology. He sings in 13 languages and speaks about 7. He is also not a 'little boy' as many think, standing 6'3" tall. You owe it to yourself to listen to all 12 songs in the contest, in order. Then move on to his performance of a song he wrote when 19 years old. It's called 'Unforgettable Day' in (GAKKU). He reaches an incredible D8 here. Later listen to 'Stranger' where you will hear his baritone/bass voice. On a different note, I urge you to listen to the voice of a young woman with a tragic beginning. Abused, left abandoned by her mother with a broken collarbone and speechless at age 2/3 years old, Taken in and adopted, music was recommended for speech therapy. Today, she is not only a true contralto but polyphonic as well.
