I can tell that you had some serious confusion about what happened between Tashigi and Smoker. He left the attempt to capture the Straw Hats and the mystery behind Baroque Works to her if she so chose it(mostly because he realized at THAT point the marines couldnt touch Crocodile unless he was taken down and exposed somehow and chasing Strawhat was less important seeing as his life was saved by Luffy). She felt she could take the responsibility for both because she has extreme views on justice and her morals. However, once she got deeper into what was going on she realized what she could actually DO was extremely limited not only because so much was held from her but also because she wasnt strong enough to defeat anyone she wanted to punish. On top of that she was put in a position where she could either work with 1 evil to conquer another evil(in her mind at least) or she could face complete and utter failure and be left with nothing and a destroyed country that she couldnt help save. By the time she rejoins Smoker her confidence and morals have been completely tested and crushed. Tashigi having to work with the Straw Hats was for her, like a firefighter having to depend on a serial killer to save a burning house filled with helpless people. And it ends with Smoker basically saying "If you dont want to have to shed tears, then work even harder so that next time you are strong enough to defend your morals/justice without having to rely on anyone".
It's also a lovely mirror of Smokers actions back in Logue Town where Smoker allowed Buggy and Luffy's fight to play out rather than take them both on at the same time. It's a lesson for Tashigi not just in her abilities, but when and how to use them effectively. She was far too distracted by her morals and her idea of justice that she rushed things, they clouded her options. Not only did she not use her opponants rivalry effectively, she let herself and her men get injured from her short-sightedness and lack of experience.
There's a lot you can say about Alabasta, but Alabasta still stands as a solid well written arc filled with everything that makes One Piece great. From the adventure of exploring a new land and culture, the political intrigue of Governments vs Citizens, shadow organizations and military operations, to stupid hilarity of the Strawhats nonsense and their amazing determination when it counts...I could go on and on....MAN I LOVE ONE PIECE
Sunny is often used at the end of the story. Rain in stories is usually used for bad images. But the rain in this story was kind and joyful to the people. The historic battle (Kingdom vs. Rebels) ended in rain, and the never-spoken battle (BW vs Straw Hat Pirates) also ended in rain (storm). It was a really beautiful and emotional way to end the story, which fits well with the story set in the sandy country.
I don't think it was ever stated outright, so my interpretation is that, after framing King Cobra for using the Dance Powder, Crocodile sent out the rainmaking ship out to sea, so that it could keep "stealing" the rain from Alabasta and literally waste it by making it rain in the middle of the ocean - so the rain finally fell on the island after Smoker found the ship and stopped its operation. Of course, that's still - if indirectly - thanks to Luffy, who both ordered Zoro to save Smokey AND pointed him in the right direction, so it's still one single monkey (D.) wrench in the works that led to Croc's downfall.
ep 126. is absolutely stunning from start to finish #ohmygod one of my favorite episodes ever. the way luffy beats crocodile (hidden boss mafia) unknowingly "revealing" his plans, such a great closure of the conflict.
i'm looking forward to the epilogue episodes of alabasta. all the tears i cried, and it still brings tears to my eyes. my only suggestion is to make the subtitles a bit bigger.
The main reason why the story is so long is that the author (Oda) has created new characters at key points in the story to keep things interesting, and sometimes those characters take things in a new direction. The Warlords of the Sea were written to give the story weight before the final conflict. This happens with another group of characters you’ll meet in a later arc
luffy still dying of poison rocks falling hard about to cave him in..hes bleeding heavily.. girl: well done me: if he was not the main character you would be crying for someone to save him cause hes about to die...yes hes got powers but hes hurt...badly...you have no worries on how he makes it out?...or how he did after the fact cause they skipped it?...he smiles to show he is willing to die to help...so things worked out...his smile melts the heart cause he tried his best
People underestimate Crocodile so much it's not even funny. His mastery of his logia fruit is comparable to the Admirals, and he would've killed Luffy In all of their three fights if not for Luffy's incredible luck. Crocodile had to be beaten because of the plot, he could've easily turned the underground tomb into a giant sinkhole and destroyed most of Alubarna with it.
