Alabasta remained my favorite arc for a LONG time, simply because everything from Luffy vs. Crocodile Round 1 is absolutely magical. I’ve reevaluated recently, but Alabasta remains in my Top 5 favorite arcs at WORST.

Oda made a fan-fucking-tastic villain with Crocodile. He's got backup plans for his backup plans, fights dirty when he's strong enough to not even need to, has a terrifyingly effective devil fruit, and will not hesitate to cut down his 2nd in command if he senses the slightest doubt in their loyalty. Dude is calculatedly evil to the core. To this day (nearly 1000 chapters later), he's still my 4th favorite One Piece villain.

After all the tough losses and crazy shit that Croc pulled ... seeing Luffy beat his ass and stop the war is SUCH A RELIEF. The music and animation make it feel even better. Thanks for the upload!

This is one of the best arcs in One Piece. The stakes, and tension, every time the gang was one step closer Crocodile already had a plan to undo it, make it MUCH WORST and make his victory lap and it was pure frustration. Made you want to punch him in the mouth just as hard as Luffy did

I can relate. Hearing that classical music right at the final clash between Luffy and Crocodile hit me so hard when I first watched it. Something about it all just clicks together so well. Congrats, you've made it through the first big arc of the series!

Alabasta was dry because Crocodile was in it. with him defeated rain can fall again. its obviously a beautiful symbolic thing but also its caused by his devil fruit. just like how Ace arriving in Drum island (chopper's home) made it not snow.

I can't wait for you to finish the prologue for the Alabasta Arc because I don't want to spoil anything but this arc is still my fav. I just passed episode 200 and the next main arc isn't bad, I just feel it didn't have as good of pacing as this one. Plus Crocodile was such a god damn amazing villain. He had no sad backstory or sympathy, he was just a villain who wanted power and was willing to do whatever it took to get it. I love it.

The one thing you gotta respect is Crocodiles planning, but the EVIL is finally defeated! The music choice, beating him using blood, and punching him through the ceiling/ground...it's all so good. Thanks for the video as always!

Along with Arlong Park, Alabasta is one of those "Milestone Arcs" in one piece that just hit so damn hard. I always try to convince new fans of the series to at least watch until this point in the story as this arc represents so well how One Piece tells stories moving forward. Not to say the other arcs are bad, not at all, but these feel like the pay off arcs, where everything thats been building up in the previous arcs finally comes to a conclusion. Theres a few others like it and now that youre hooked, i cannot wait to see you react to my #1 favorite arc. Its in about 5 arcs from here but the show is already setting up the stage for it. Enjoy the ride while it lasts~

Perfect final act for the battle

It's moreso overlooked information but just like how ace brought a day of sun to chopper's winter island, crocodile was using his fruit to drain as much water in the country as possible. So on his defeat it poured.

"I can change all blocks here into sand" I remember some argument that logias doesn't have awakenings because they already are awakened in a sense. so reading that kinda confirms it since one of awakening's skill is turning environments into their element

Loved the reaction, I just wish there could have been less bits cut out. A popular theory on the heavy use of classical music in this last episode is that this was One Piece's 2nd, really first, big finale to a Saga and it was a time when it was a less sure thing that One Piece's anime would be getting renewed; so the end of Alabasta went so hard because of that uncertainty. Either way, while the East Blue Saga finale of Arlong is great, the build up only really started about halfway through Baratie. With Alabasta, we've been trying to foil Crocodile's plans since Whisky Peak and the relief to finally see Crocodile, after all the smug swagger and disregard for others, get what was coming to him was one of the most cathartic moments in the anime; and still is personally. I can never make it through the parts with Pell or when Vivi sees Crocodile flying and realizes that Luffy kept his promise without crying. Leave it to Oda to turn a gag from the beginning of the arc (when they were planning and Luffy kept repeating that he just had to beat up Crocodile) into such an emotional line. Regarding the rain, remember when they teased introducing Ace with him on Drum Island? They mentioned that, oddly, it hadn't snowed at all the day that Ace showed up with his Flare Flare fruit. Then we have Crocodile who is hanging out in Alabasta and there just so happens to have been a drought for as long as he'd been there. Based off these examples, the community understands that Logia(elemental) devil fruit users have a passive effect on the weather around them. So once Crocodile got his face caved in by Luffy, the rain was finally able to fall again. Wait and see with the rest of Alabasta and you can tell that the anime played it in a way that the saga could be treated as an "end" while leaving the the show still open to continue; which we're all thankful that it obviously did. Looking forward to your reactions to the next arc and where the show goes from there.

Facts about this arc 1. Many fans hate it because of Vivi screaming "please stop fighting" being annoying. 2. Oda says that Crocodile was introduced a bit early and it was difficult writing a solution to the problem. Overall this arcs amazing in my opinion. I don't understand what people mean by fact #1 but its something thats always echod another example "Skypias a bad arc" which it isn't.

Different kind of guy to last 3 whole episodes under Luffy's ANGER. Yeah that music is nice. Never really got into classical music but I absolutely love the Irish artist Enya if you know her. Some weird middle ground between classical and pop music I guess???. But magical. Orinoco Flow and Caribbean Blue are some of the most beautiful pieces of music I know. I'll for sure start properly listening to classical someday I know it😂

It took a while but Luffy defeated his first Warlord of the Sea and an elemental Devil-fruit user at that! And it only took most his blood and a lot of determination. Those flashes of red were counting the seconds left on the clock before the bomb detonated. One thing I kind of hate with the Netflix subs is that they don't always translate Japanese text on the screen for viewers so you're clueless on what's being shown. Zoro's flaw/running gag is that he has a very poor sense of direction and will get lost very easily. He somehow ended outside of Alabasta's capital. Episode 126 is an absolute favorite amongst OP anime fans with its use of classical music and choreography. I can't wait to see you finish up the Alabasta Saga and then we can move on to the next adventure in this thrilling epic tale.
