Don’t blame yourself for your cancer. We didn’t have sunscreen back then! We were encouraged to “get some sun”. Here’s to your continued good health, God bless.

I was going to say the same thing- don’t blame yourself. That’s actually a misconception. I had basal cell at 15 & never got tan. I had it again a few years ago. My dermatologist said it’s very genetic & fair skin/light eyes make it super common. Glad you got through it & look great now. It’s so scary to have them cutting into your face😳

Unfortunately you’re wrong. Sun screen is toxic. There’s nothing more healing than the sun. Vitamin d. melatonin. Much much more. People never in the sun get the most skin cancer. Farmers who are in the sun get less melanoma. More skin cancer happens on areas not getting sun. Skin cancer is lower in sunny countries. Look up pubmed. .

Even with consistent use of sunscreen you can unfortunately still get skin cancer.

Correct. I grew up in Florida and was never a sun worshiper yet I've had several Mohs surgeries. I am very light skinned from European parents. The cancer was not my fault and I consider my scars my badges of honor since thanks to those surgeries I beat cancer and others aren't that fortunate. 🙏

I had a basal cell carcinoma on my nose 6 years ago at age 64. I was sent to a plastic surgeon. He told me there was no place to "hide" a scar, so I would have one. I feel self-conscious about the scar, but most people don't even notice it. I am thankful that the surgeon got all the cancer, which was most important.

Angela my brother had the Moh’s procedure in the operating room also. I knew ( as a nurse) that it was going to be a lot since they took him to the OR.They never stopped his Coumadin (blood thinner). He looked like someone backed over him with a car. They honestly don’t prepare people for what is going to happen in Moh’s procedure.

when i was young baby oil and iodine was my drug of choice for tanning. I am in my 60s now last october i was diagonosed with stage 2 cancer on my leg they cut it out and left me a 6 inch scar then they treated me for a month with Chemo cream I go back at end of month for final check. Hopefully everythings gone. Now I don't leave my house without sunblock and covering and a hat. I wish I could tell these young people laying on the beach my experience but young people don't think anything bad will happen to them. Sorry this is sooo long but hopefully someone will read my testomonie and listen to you and wake up. I luv your videos and you are beautiful

Hi, Angela, i am 83 and have suffered for the past 50 years or so with many different types of skin cancer, including basal cell - I figure we are survivors and we should be proud that we are survivors and hold out our hands to other souls. Congratulations on being a survivor. P.s. I have a melanoma scar on my leg that when people asked about it, I would answer “shark bite”. - a definite conversation stopper!

I am a redhead -grew up in Southern CA beaches. I have had skin cancer 3 times, and 2 MOHS surgeries. My face was a 6 " football size opening-your cant even see it, my chest was a 10x4 " opening-and again, they stitched me up with little scarring. Drs are amazing! I have also had 3 laser treatments on my face. Go away cancer! After all of that healed-I had a mini lift with forehead and eye lift. Best thing I have ever done. Sun damage was brutal of rme, thank you modern medicine.

Years ago my Mom had 1/3 of her lower eyelid removed due to basal cell cancer. She had an excellent surgeon, but it took quite awhile for the black & blue & swelling to resolve. Mom was shocked at how much had to be removed, and how battle-worn she looked for weeks afterward. But in the end it looked fine, normal. Whatever you need to do for yourself, you go Girl!

Angela, Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm a bit older than you (66) & I was part of the generation that baked their skin at basically every opportunity... at the pool, in the back yard... then I also was part of the tanning bed movement. I know, crazy... Anyway, I've had to have some skin cancer appear in a number of places & have been having them treated. I had a large place on my upper back & the healing process was painful I haven't had any on my face that required any surgery, but I get checked 2 times a year, just to be safe. Anyway, thank you again for sharing your story with us. You are brave & beautiful...inside & out! Be blessed!

I had Moh surgery last year for basal cell carcinoma under my right eye. It was quite large. I'm 74. The dermatologist got it in one go. He cut up to the corner of my eye and right down the side of my nose to my nostril. The stitches were out in about 7 days. Nothing is noticeable at all. My R. eye looks the same as the other. No slack skin. A faint scar is visible down my nose but no-one would ever notice it. It's invisible when I have makeup on. I chose the dermatologist myself (Dr Dougal Coates, Brisbane, Australia) because I read on Google what an absolute star he is with this surgery. I can see from what you say how lucky I am.

Even if you hadn’t gotten cancer- who cares if you do things that make you feel better about yourself? I’m 46 and have slept on my left side of my face for YEARS! I had no idea it could flatten your face! I noticed I started to look “off”. Went to my derm a couple weeks ago and he put just a little filler in! He said let’s wait about 4-5 weeks to see if we need to add a little more (it takes about that long to settle). I probably will opt to have a titch more in a few weeks. You know what? I feel so much better about myself! I can afford to do it so who gives a crap what anyone else thinks?!! Btw- you are so adorable!!!

Back in the day we all thought a great tan made us look "fit" and "healthy" (even if we burned our bums while getting it!) You should never feel uncomfortable about something like this, Angela. The important thing is you found a remedy for the surgical scars. Maybe sharing your story will inspire people to limit their exposure to the sun, use products containing SPF, and see a dermatologist periodically.

I hope so! That way they may be able to save themselves from the same problems! ❤️

Hi Angela😍 I agree with Ellen (above) and so many other comments here. You are so lucky to have found those facial cancers early and the surgeon did a superb job 🤩❤️🙏 I would ignore any negative comments and just do what makes you feel better - thank God for modern medicine 🙏 All the best and hopefully no more cancers 🙏🤞❤️ Love your vlogs and have fun in Florida 💚🍀🥰👏🏻

Don't be ashamed at all. I get medicine every day due to metastatic breast cancer. That medicine gives me a lot of large blue marks.... Whenever someone is looking very much at me, I just tell them " he's looking even worse, I won". They really don't know what to say - but I have a great laugh for myself 😊
