Hello dear Tessie, about celery, I am no great gardener, still lots to learn but I on some things I plant I don"t seem to have trouble growing and on other things like strawberries, I am still learning how to succeed with them . As for celery I plant , I plant my celery plants at the end of may and have celery from mid summer till late fall. When I go into my garden, I only collect the stems that I need and the stalk is kept in the garden. Also I discovered you can grow celery by using the stump of your celery stalk, just keep the base in water for a few weeks like you did with the horse raddish, until it develops some roots and you see some stalks regrowing and replant it in your garden and it will continue to grow. About lovage, they say it is good for stews and is a perennial. Last year I bought myself a lovage plant and planted it in my garden and it came back again, Thank you for your tip about the banana peels for the roses and that clipping them will produce more roses in the season. You are blessed to get so many lemons. I like everythibg lemon from lemon soap to lemons rinf in cakes and lemmon curd, lemon water lol everything lemon I just love. Bye for now. 🥰🍋🍋🍋💕

Tessie, you truly are the "Plant Whisperer"! And your beautiful yard and garden show it. Honestly, there are times when I would declare you could produce herbs and flowers from a pile of rocks! It's a pleasure to see -- no matter how many times we see it! That's not the only "magic trick" you do either. You can produce a meal from a leftover hamburger! If even half of the population of this country lived the way you and Kenny do, I think it would transform lives. Food budgets would be lower. There would be less stress on the grid. Less waste of food and water. And I think there would actually be less depression! I feel kind of sorry for folks who will be spending a lot of this holiday weekend consuming consuming and consuming! (Sometimes consuming substances that will only end up causing a big dent in the household budget and possibly in their own health status. There might well be the unavoidable Wednesday morning wake-up call this coming week in a lot of homes. 😞 Ouch!) On the other hand, Wednesday morning, you and Kenny will look out your windows, take a big breath, and smile. Bless you!

Hi, Tessie! That was such a great way to make a meal out of a small amount of leftovers, and it did look delicious. Similar to what you did with the horseradish, I've been planting potatoes from the store and other "kitchen scraps" (lettuce and celery) along with what I've started from seed to grow even more food. Your garden is an inspiration. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said about ordinary moments and people. They are what make life beautiful.

Your horseradish is coming along well. We grow our own along with turmeric and ginger. Am so happy you are getting much needed rain. A friend of mine has the same metal garden planters as you and I have. They like you, have deer. Her husband bought some lattice panels and some 6 ft wooden posts. Then he attached some sturdy wooden posts and installed the lattice on each side and end. On one side he cut the lattice in half so that each side can lift up for her to plant, tend, harvest the beans and other vegetables she grows. The lattice protects the plants from being eaten by the deer. This is an idea that might work for you to allow you to grow strings beans and other vegetables the deer like. Am sure galvanized steel fence posts and zip ties might work as well.
