Having had short term vacation rentals I HIGHLY suggest you only have white sheets, blankets, bath towels and kitchen towels so you can bleach them. No matter who stays in the rental...things happen. Colored duvet, quilts etc are fine but bleachable everything else. Make sure all trash cans have liners and nothing breakable. It also helpful to have in the rental a small whisk broom and dust pan along with extra paper towels. We have two story rentals with wooden stairs and 99% of folks left suitcases on bottom floor near the bathroom. Since you have no bathroom maybe consider a wardrobe and small chest of drawers downstairs. Consider older folks, kids dragging suitcases upstairs and the considerable damage caused. HARD TRUTH: Renters will NOT care for your Bunkie like it is their own home. They just won't.

Agree with the all white linens… I work for a renowned hotels for the last 24 years… seen it all… had to launder all… bleach and cleaning peroxide will be your best friends… and extremely hot water. Don’t forget the matress and pillow protector. Thank you for taking us alongside in your journey…❤❤❤❤❤

agree totally....renters can be sooo disrespectful. I can tell you though, there is no way older people will be using the bunkie with the bedroom up a ladder, let alone bringing their luggage up. Is the sofa a pullout?

Watching you harvest the lilac brought back such vivid memories of when I was a little girl in the 1960s. My mum had a lilac tree which was her pride and joy and it looked huge to me. It was right beside the wooden gate onto the path to our house and I used to spend ages swinging back and forth on that gate beside the lilac tree. The smell was divine and even the mention of lilac transports me right back to my childhood.

I love making things out of things that other people may not think of making. I have a lilac bush and thought, unfortunately to late, that I could make jelly or syrup out of the flowers. I love different flavored jellys and jams. I use rose hips, tiny crabapple, juice from any fruit,Violets, dandelion, apple scraps. I have more than 70 different jars of jelly and jam in my collection. Strawberry, raspberry, fig, peach, apple, apple pepper, pear pepper, watermelon..i cant stop. I see fruit and immediately want to turn it into something. I'm about to try peach cumin because I got a small commercial jar as a gift in that flavor and loved it. Now i want to duplicate it.. 😂

😂when we were little, my brother and I thought God put flowers where they grew. It was up to people to take care of them. We thought some people were super good at taking care of the blessings of flowers. Sooooo….we went to the prettiest yard near where we had just moved. We picked flowers to try to please our new step-mother. A few hours later, a red-faced elderly lady was knocking at our door. 🥴That was the day we learned that people actually went to nurseries to buy flowers, and planted them in their yards. We eventually became friends and visited for tea with her as well. 🤣We liked her better than our evil step-mother anyway.

Chelsea the garden is off to a great start. Rely impressed with al the projects you and Dan have accomplished over the last two years. Still it would be great to have a geothermal and cow manure heating system to extend the season in the high tunnel. My world has come to stop. Broke my shoulder 18 months ago, that stopped all work on the boat at the dock. The pain from any movement has just started to go in the last month. This resulted in lack of exercise and range of movement. As a result of me of me sitting at my computer my circulatory system has crashed and sores on my legs have had to be treated. It is hell to be 84! But things are improving and I am able to very slowly build back some strength and increase my activity with out pain. But the lost strength, range of movement and stamina are still with me. BUT I'M STILL A HAPPY CAMPER still mobile and active at a reduced level. Bert

If you ever need more staples, gether up your old drycleaner metal hangers. Use a wire cutter and snip on each side of the hook at the top. Fold the cut edge down to the bottom and cut the bottom edge to match each cut edge from the top. You now have 2 new staples to hold down your weed fabric or landscaping hosing.

@LittleMountainRanch, from personal experience with weed barrier fabric…. DO NOT just lay it over your grass. The grass will grow up through it and at that point your fabric will be basically useless and ruined. You want to kill the grass or at least till it up before you lay the weed barrier down. Also, in the high-tunnel, when the ground is wet under the fabric, it can be really slippery, so be careful.

@suemcknight9051

Hi, Chelsea…if you are going to do weed barrier along your high tunnel after weed whacking the grass, may I suggest you really spray that grass heartily with the vinegar, salt, & splash of dish soap weed killer before you apply the weed barrier. It is a “double-whammy” on insuring yourself that those weed or grass roots will be seriously dead. I have been pretty impressed with how effective that vinegar combo is at killing vegetation. It will need to be sprayed & then left to start working in the open air & sunshine prior to putting down the barrier.
