In my mind, the CON of this system is the ice. If you continuously run hot air through it, the ice is going to melt very fast. Neat idea, but you'll basically need a ice machine on board (with power source) to run this for days on end.

Hello friend. Yeah you are right. We knew of it's limitations. We thought of other units but this one seamed to do the job. We are not wanting to put holes or try to install a unit. It has to be portable, and able to deal with outside environment like humidity, heat and rain. There is a product that we have been really considering and that is the Zero Breeze, but it has two hose to install. We could run these two hoses over the door of the Cuddy but it gets in the way and us that we are constantly in and out of the Cuddy at night checking on things just wasn't an option. Hopefully there will be a company that could come up with a battery ac unit that's compact, portable, weather proof, as for right now the cooler seams to work for our situation, we would be out of luck if we run out of ice. I wonder if dry ice would work any better or last any longer .I made one for our cuddy cruiser and run it off a 1000 cca battery where i hid the battery . My wife was looking Goofy at me ,when i was making it .But when I turned it on when she was in the cuddy , boy her face lit up with a big smile .Yes it's not as cold as real A/C would be , but it does drop the cabin temp by 10-15 degrees and not anymore then that . But that's plenty good ., Used a small cooler , blower motor 2- 90 degree pvc elbows ,put two holes in the lid .4 inches of pvc pipe to the 90 degree elbow , put it in the holes, filled full ice , turn it on and let here rip. Or do what the 2BearsOutdoors did and just buy the one they bought ,which I here works great . great video

Hello Brother! How are you. Thank you so much for watching. You know, you're the second person that has mentioned the dry ice. We also thought about it and eventually we will experiment with the dry ice concept. I bet it will work great. As for you cooler, man that's brilliant! Yes same here, it's cold coming out of the house and if you are a few feet away the the hose you can feel it very cool but like you said it's about keeping the whole Cuddy cool. I agree, I to very happy that the temperature stay at least 10 to 15 degrees cooler. That's enough for us to be comfortable inside without roasting while the heat, humidity and bugs are awaiting for you to open the hatch and door. Loll.. thanks again for your support. Pretty neat. I suppose you could increse efficiency by somehow placing another hose from cabin into inlet of cooler. It a return system now and the ice is not being impacted by 90 deg but 75 deg. Should last longer.

I just made this same addition for my old grady white cuddy cabin! I've done 3 overnighters so far and its very comfortable sleep. Only thing I can recommend is if at all possible space wise, put the whole thing in the cabin. I thought about leaving mine outside.. and running ducting like you did..but! Its cooling ambient air anywhere from 30-35 degrees, so once the cabin cools a bit its able to made colder and colder air. Only works if you can find room though! Either way its a game changer for not needing an AC or generator! Safe boating!

Yeah, we've tried to put it between us on the floor but it Bearly fits and impossible for us to get out of the cabin with it being there. Originally we had put the extension hose draping over the door with towels covering the gap. A big pain in the rear getting in and out. So yes we've tried other options and when finally coming up with a better alternative, we created the video. I'm glad the cooler has worked out for you. Thanks again for your support and commenting. Awesome video brother! I saw a video that someone did with this unit where they laid a sheet of dry ice in there, then regular ice and over the top, they cut a sheet of foam board for even more insulation. It made the ice last almost twice as long. Maybe that way you won’t have to get up in the middle of the night! We’re definitely considering this for our boat! Thanks bro! 🤙
