Financial habits are much more of a cultural thing than we might realize! What we believe about money and how we spend our money has a lot to do with what we are taught.
Growing up in Germany there are a handful of money habits that I thought were completely normal... until I realized other countries do things a bit differently. Let me share a few of these German financial habits with you today.

Hi am UK based and although we grew up frugally because my parents didnt have much money, i became an adult just as consumerism was really kicking off at the end of the 1980s. From bitter experience i learned how to save and budget and to reject the 'you need this in your life' culture. I suspect some attitudes to money maybe as much to do with generational issues as location. Really enjoyed your video thanks

Hi there. Thank you so much for sharing! I agree, generational issues have a lot to do with our money behavior as well.

I come from Poland and a lot of points is the same in my home (middle class): no ordering food or eating at restaurants, no doubts in banks, buying product by the most attractive price, zero waste (fe. re-using water from washing dishes to toilet). My mom cares about her look always, but her beauty routine is limited to hygiene care, perfume, classis Nivea face cream and nice, clean clothes and polished shoes. I would like to keep all rules learnt in my childhood, but I have to admit it's not easy, when we have the access to so many products and opportunities and we want 'use the life' after social media bombarding everyday. It required a lot of strong will

Thanks for sharing! I agree it's not easy to resist the consumerist world.

I am from Serbia which is a poor country, and I am a frugal person. I avoid debt, pay cash, save a lot of my income, rarely eat out. When I travel or buy something I save money first,.

I think that you have to be from the south of Germany. When I was in the north of Germany it was really commen to go out for food as you could get dishes in the special shops where you buy the special food eg fish shop- you could buy and eat a dish on site. In south Germany you wont find such things. The cities are smaller, the population much older, the traditional food is not good. PPl in south Germany like to stay in their home, most of them are used to have a house with garden or big balconies. Especially the region ppl stay for themself. With such a isolated habit, it is no wounder that there is no real food culter in south Germany and therefore no place for restaurants. Even for a f*ing brunch you have to search the internet and walk miles to find a provider. Doesnt happen in the north- even in f*ing small cities you have a special shop or restaurant which provides you with deliscious food and you will find it immediately and dont have to seach the internet and walk miles!
