Welcome to my channel where it's all about making your life and your finances more simple. You'll find videos here on managing your money, decluttering, money tips for your 20s (early adulthood in general), living a more intentional life, etc. :)
My name is Rebekka, I have a university background of management accounting, finance and taxation and one of my big passions is personal finances.
Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor and the videos serve as entertainment and are for informational purposes only. The videos are not financial advice.
I definitely think some people could save a lot of money but most people probably won’t stop being poor just because they didn’t buy that 5$ coffee or $30 shirt
I have used the same refillable pen for over 3 years now and only recently bought a new one because the barrel is literally cracked and eventually broke, and yeah the difference between buying a new pen Vs buying a refill is literally 50 cents more or less, but it's one of the many ways I've tried to genuinely reduce consumption, plus that 50 cents might come in handy when I'm short on coins (it did)
This channel is a GOLDMINE! You actually spit INFORMATION and ADVICE instead of running off into tangents and talking about random things, because you actually have KNOWLEDGE. I’ll use this channel to try to understand basic money management, then talk to a financial advisor for the rest.
I'm one of these people who uses an item until it's empty, breaks or becomes unusable. I have a dress that I only use for special occasions like parties. If I don't use some clothes over a period of time; I take them to a second hand store or give it to a relative, so the clothes would be loved by someone and wouldn't be flung into the landfill. I only treat myself to some new clothes if the clothes are severely ripped, outstretched or worn in some places; IE underwear and jeans. If a pair of trousers is worn out, I would use the material for crafting.
Totally agree😊 + i’m really glad that you also talked about overconsuming content, social media … most people are not even aware of how much content they are exposed to every single day. And usually it’s all the same - 15 second video after 15 second video. No meaning. Also, what helps me with keeping this awareness is my faith and fact that the Bible in many places calls greed (is that how you say it? 😅) and pursue of more and more a sin. Also I think that social media makes us compare so much and it categorizes people into weird „cores” and „aesthetics”. And people loose their personality, hobbies and just follow trends from tiktok. Of course, it’s fun to explore different aesthetics, experiment with your style but we also need self-reflection. 🌸
We only spend on bills and groceries every month. No extras. We have no subscriptions. We don't get anything unnecessary. We have broken items in the house that we can't afford to replace. Our clothes are falling apart and we mend them. We are still falling short every month because we're not paid enough. What do you suggest we do?
Poor is not the right word. This video is correct but it deals with people having money consuming too much abd therefore having less than they would actually have. Being poor is sth totally different
Deutscher hier der in den USA lebt. Overconsumption has kicked into overdrive here, and I feel like especially since the pandemic. Lonely people are filling the void in their social life with things, so they feel something. It doesn't work though, so it's an endless cycle of short dopamine shots, that keeps going. All your points are correct! . Quick tip: when you say the word clothes, just say it like "close". The "th" followed by the "s" is weird to pronounce, so that's a cheeky way to do that :)
Great points and great questions! I've been gradually working to transition towards buying less and buying higher quality items when i do. I also recently purchased some used clothes, which i hadn't typically done in the past. I was surprised how good it felt to save a little money and know that i was offering some nice clothes additional uses. Ill continue using your points moving forward!!
this has really put some things into perspective for me! I'm going to save this video so that I can watch it again later, because i know I have a horrible memory but I don't want to forget this advice
I feel the over consumption of houses. Word for out that the area I live was very affordable. So many people moved here. Well there wasn't enough houses so land went up for sale and people bought up lots. Trees were cut down and cheaply made houses were built. When our area is no longer cool to live in those people will probably move somewhere else leaving a bunch of empty houses. We were known for having a lot of trees and for the areas nature. Now people are insisting on building over it.
Toothpaste, body wash and deodorant. I used to have lots of back ups because I had a membership to one of those skincare monthly boxes. I stopped everything a year ago and I am still working on using everything up and gifting friends & family what was not for my skin type or something I just know i has would never be able to use. I have a list of how many products I go through in a year so I know that there is no need to keep buying stuff which will only expire sitting in my cabinets.
Hi Rebecca, I am an American that is very curious to see the difference in the cost of living between the US and Germany. Is there a way I can contact you and ask a couple of questions?
I'm so fed up with all of the over consumerism it's just too much how many videos can there be about Sephora Amazon hauls it's just getting disgusting I'm fed up and it's just too much nobody needs This Much Junk for their face you only have one face
hi im watching this video after all day long thinking about buying more running shoes. i still have 20 more pairs with 100 to 150 miles of usage and still want to buy the newest released, but somehow i know what youre talking about here and i dont want to contribute more garment and plastic trash. i know it is hard to stop this habit of buying shoe and clothes. but i will try and re enjoying to run with old clothes and shoe.
Thank you for your data and analysis. For me, it is common sense. I will bookmark this channel to link it into the dozens of videos from millennials and Gen Zs that gripe about how hard the present is for them compared to older generations. To each its own 😊
I'm guilty of saying I deserve a treat to justify spending money on things I don't really need. I often try to remember that as I already have a home, clothes, food, family, and non essentials in my life, I have all the treats I need already.
They will run out as soon as they see some IG influencer promote it. I have family member that works in spa & does Botox. All the woman coming spending huge fortunes, thinking they are model or celeb. Is crazy. Especially if they have husband w/ money
