Tbh none of the male characters in this show makes you feel much respect for them, especially Leonard annoys me a lot. I feel like he just goes in a circle and never tries to better himself, and it feels like hes only with penny because shes hot. Its the only thing about her he talks about in a positive way 99% of the time

Ive watched the show so many times and while i do like all the characters, i dont fault Bernadette for controlling money in her relationship or Penny feeling frustrated with Leanard. Howard behaves like a child and doesnt show her much respect at all, whines and complains instead of communicating, and expects her to do almost everything at home. When they first moved in together, he didnt wven discuss it with her and just expected her to mother him. Hes also spend hundreds of dollars on purchases without talking to his wife who earned that money. If i were Bernadette, id be worried about coming home one day and learning all the money was gone. I wouldnt trust or respect someone whose supposed to be my equal and my partner putting me in that position and expecting me to be okay or happy. And in this Ep, Penny was trying to have a conversation and communicate and instead of reciprocating, Leanord lashed out by pushing his insecurities onto Penny. She wasnt trying to be controlling, she wanted to talk about her insecurity of the financial imbalance and he immediatly called her controlling bc he didnt like what he was hearing. And he does it constantly. Its manipulative and emotionally abusive in a real world relationship for one person to push all their insecurities on their partner any time they want to communicate. I dont respect either Howard or Leanord bc i dont believe they actually respect their partners anyways Edit: all of this more or less boils down to needing to do more in order to be respected. They put in very little and expect too much. Its not fair and unworthy of their partners respect, in my mind.
