The display of costume jewelry was fabulous. The bracelets and bangles, displayed beautifully too. I ran it back and paused about 5 times. Very pleasurable show George.
I used to live in the Tampa Bay area about 13 years ago, (Brandon) so am familiar with St. Pete and not surprised that it has a huge collectibles store…and it’s a very artsy town with the fabulous Salvador Dali Museum (a MUST SEE) and the St. Pete Fine Art Museum. I guess this store’s been there a while? But I was only an occasional vintage buyer back then and not a reseller. We did go to Ybor City in Tampa once in a while though, where they had an old building (it’s something different now I think…near the Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant that I think has closed now?) with lots of vintage/antiques/collectibles vendors as well as the downtown Ybor City area. Fun!
Thank you for the great tour. A lot of amazing furniture and lamps. I always wanted to go to a Tina Turner concert, could she move and sing! Broke Back Mountain was shot in my back yard in Canada.
The painted cabinet is a cool way to bring those cabinets in to the modern age, or revitalize them so a different customer might be interested in them. I see those types of cabinets in corners of thrift/barn sales filthy and usually broken veneers etc needing some love. When it is painted in a good way I say ok. now it is art.
Wow, that was a lot of history/info packed into that vendor's mall! Everyone had their booths, your's included, George, looking so nice! I went to a living estate sale yesterday & got a few things. She had a really nice vintage barrister bookcase in excellent condition for $75 i was tempted to get. I did get a beautiful handmade quilt in very good condition & an antique stereoscope w/ one card, a set of russian nesting dolls & a few other small things. I asked how she got her values & she said she "googled" it, which i'm not sure how that works as i check mine on ebay sold comps. Unfortunately she was pricing alot of things w/ sentimental attachment.
Good evening, George! There was a barrister's bookcase there that caught my eye. If it was a darker wood, it would've really interested me. Loved the Seth Thomas calendar clock! I spotted a Vapo-Cresolene lamp there. I have one of those with the original box. I liked that oak wall phone next to the "50 ft. Woman" poster. Love that printers' cabinet and the boat on top of it. I'd love to have one of those milkshake makers! I liked the hen and rooster set. I have quite a collection of those, and it began with sets from my grandparents. A lot of the furniture there wasn't my taste...I should've been born in the High Victorian era😂 Great tour!!! Thanks for the take-along!!! I managed to catch bits and pieces of the live earlier...had to be in-and-out, so didn't get all of it. The storms haven't hit us yet, but they are on the way. Mississippi has been taking a severe hit. I hope we don't get hit too hard😐
So glad you are okay after a day of howling winds! We had it here and it was half the windspeed you got but it triggered tornado memories. I hope it avoids you! I wanted to show a few things that were really antique, they mostly emphasize vintage there! I liked the bookcase too! I sold a Vapo with original box, you used to see them more but not so much now...you strike me as having been suited for Victorian high style.
@@TheAntiqueNomad We're starting to get the howling now - it's 9:05pm. It's going to be a long night, for sure. You know I'm going to zoom in on the true antiques🙂 Yeah, the Vapo-Cresolene lamps are getting more difficult to find; especially complete and with the original box. The High Victorian era would've definitely suited me well😂
I had so much fun walking through the mall with you. You make me want to start my own booth. It would take a lot of work and more shopping then time I have for. You are an inspiration. Maybe you'll come up to Minneapolis sometime.
George, you mentioned the black wood stove is yours. Well our Laura Caldwell is looking for a black one mid century for there new home. Can you send her a picture, that one is so nice she might be interested. Thank you.
Having a blast catching up this Sat the 23...can not wait to be at your booths and shows, going to be part of my roaming....I saw Tina several times too...live..Love her and being 62 is growing on me...wonderful eclectic show and wonderful booth. today I love the chrome fish S and P's and there is a neat plain soft turquoise form a distance vase there..not sure who made, McCoy?..love it. Wow the Hula girl I loved too and the old Pre-columbian time of Christ piece...I loved the Metal Hibiscus piece next to a picture you were showing....my goodness,,,that is something that Modernism over a century ago...I love this...thank YOU. PS...the dolphins holding the sphere,,,I have done a week class for helping with healing swimming with them forever ago in Kona...ready to do again. Thanks soo much for all the education and pure beauty and fun of it all. Dad had to sleep next to Clydesdales at 4-h barn duty before the ranch with my sister,,,I mean on a cot right next to their hooves with nothing but a gate inbetween..lololol. He was in ranch practice. What a fabulous lamp..and i love those Monks...I am sorry I can never shut up...i know jewelry is coming and excited.
Great content as always George. How do you maintain a booth in Florida when you travel so much? Also isn’t Laura Caldwell looking for a fireplace in black or white like the one you showed in this video?
I love that specific mall I look forward to seeing what's in there soooo SWANKY💋 oh yeah and thanks every Stroh's commercial is going through my head🤯from one beer lover to another 🎶
Thanks for the tour George! Great stuff and informative as always. I always learn so much from you:) We live across the bay and it’s been too long since we visited downtown St. Pete for fun. We’ll be over checking Vintage Modern out as soon as I can wrangle my husband into it:)
I am really enjoying your net presence on a variety of channels! Loved seeing your own booth! I appreciate the Oldsmobile golf poster as I live in the greater Lansing, MI area-home to RE Olds and the Oldsmobile and Diamond REO trucks. I believe you said you do some MI shows-I’ve been wondering which ones you attend. I believe you said you were born in Battle Creek? Okay: are you freaked out? We are silently watching and listening!!! I’m learning much, Thanks!
So many incredible items. My home was built in the 50s and I’m so in love with mid century items. I’m trying to stay true to the era of the home and collect those items for our decor. I could spend the entire day in that district. Thanks for sharing.
